Hey guys! I'm the dude that took promo copies of the debut album to the Faroe Islands and gave to the TUTL label to have a listen, which obviously worked as they released the album! This band blew up so fast it wasn't even funny! I also run the Wacken Metal Battle contest for bands where we find an unsigned band in Iceland to send to Wacken, and Skálmöld were thinking about participating and didn't even have to in the end as they got signed shortly after. This performance was in 2013 after the band had only released 2 studio albums and they were invited by the officially state run Icelandic Symphony Orchestra for a concert, which turned into 3 sold out evenings in a row, each in front of 1600 people. They then repeated this in 2018 and did 4 sold out shows. The orchestra does this occasionally, i.e. invite popular artists to join them for an evening or two and it's mostly pop artists that have the biggest hots on the radio, but no artist has played 7 sold out shows with this orchestra except Skálmöld, playing metal. It should also be mentioned that the first democratically elected female president in the world, Vigdís Finnbogadóttir (elected in 1980 and served as president of Iceland for 16 years) attended the 2013 concert and the current president, Guðni Th Jóhannesson, attended the 2018 concert. Oh yeah, I invited him to Wacken in 2023 and he said yes. The president of Iceland went to Wacken Open Air 2023, where 4 Icelandic bands were playing, among them Skálmöld :) Also, Sólstafir, The Vintage Caravan and Krownest.
Thanks so much for this great reaction, i was on this concert, row 3 and there is nothing like it...having a metal band that you love (Skálmöld) and about 250 people playing with them (symphony orchestra of Iceland, men's choir of Reykjavík , Kammer Choir Hymnodia and Children's choir Kársnessskóli) The power and sound coming from the stage was overwhelming at times :) ...thanks again
Yup, The Iceland Symphony Orchestra was thrilled to play with Skálmöld back in 2013 or 2012. And of course Skálmöld was honoured to play with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra. Skálmöld two previous metal albums were a big hit in Iceland and even old grannies were listening to them. Because it was different, and took us Icelanders back to the roots. Everyone loved Skálmöld. That is why everyone was so happy on stage. Everyone loved their music.
Also a note on the lyrics on all Skálmöld songs. They were written by the bass player Snæbjörn who used old writings like in the viking era. Props to him.
You do not need Viking blood to enjoy the songs from Skamold. Love your reaction. Check out Hel. The drummer plays like the muppet animal( on his set). Stay Safe.🤘
While I loved your reaction I'm saddened because most Icelandic songs from metal to rap gain most of their charisma...maybe pull is a better word, from their lyrics, for me personally. You would have loved this even more with knowledge of the story but I am very glad that you enjoyed my favorite band even without!!!

Their "Hel" from same consert is great too 🤘😊👍
The entire concert is mindblowing.

There were 3 concerts with the symphony all in the Eldborg Hall in the Harpa Concert Theater in Reykjavik
Very fun reaction! As mentioned below then you have to do Hel from the same concert. Regards from Iceland.
I like the sound of these guys. And Wintersun releasing Time 2? Fk yeah! You could say about "time".

The studio version of this song is awesome, but the oboe guy conquered this song in the symphony version
Please do their song Hel from the same concert, and even more songs from this concert. 'Loki' is insane as well (from this concert)
Look at Dimma playing with the sinfonia
You need to react to Hel from the same concert

They have not do, it was there first time
The drummer also makes his own snare drums
You two are talking way to much ! What you can't be quiet and just enjoy a great song
I wasn't spanked enough hahahaha
@@enterthecronic maybe shut it and just enjoy the entire song or tune from beginning to end. And then add your opinion
@@redburban1394 or you can run your own channel and do it your own way. That's also a really awesome idea :) I'd watch you
@@enterthecronic bless your heart
