- This audit takes place outside this LDS church from the public sidewalk where we were documenting with our cameras (capturing video & images)
We had a few members from this church approach us while we were recording. The first individual was cordial but curious as to what we were doing. The second individual seemed more concerned as well as stating that I couldn't use his image in public. The third individual returned with one of the previous ones who approached earlier, this time acting as the fashion police wondering why we were dressed as weird tourists according to him. My audit partner informed him that he really shouldn't judge another on their appearance, but since he started with critiquing our fashion sense, I returned the energy telling him that I thought his brown striped 80s tie looked tacky 😂😂

People often "weaponize" things like "children" or "private information". The best way to address this is to rephrase it. For example the reply to an objection to filming "children" is that Constitutional law freedom of the press has NO restriction on age. You can record children, parents, and grandparents. You might say it is a family friendly constitution.

Of all the denominations, it seems that the Mormons (in this case you can erase the second “m”) are consistently the most defensive and most unwelcoming. I would just start telling them, “We’re doing a story on polygamy and child brides and are out gathering content.”

Yeah local goodwill or thrift shop who gave them the suits to wear(no one else wanted them, had to give them away) Hell even the rag man didn't want the suits. Good to see the suits went to needy tho.

Thank you for sharing the form letter declining your body cam request. The choice they selected could literally apply to every single encounter of this type with police. Basically police body cams are completely unreliable.

I stop going to my church 3yrs ago . I was tired of the gossipers and the hate. I thought with it being nondenomination it would be less hassels plus I don't like labels. But the corruption. Between the pastor and congregation was too much for me. I have visited a few since then. And let me tell you it was disastrous to say the least. My pastor told me the Bible was all spiritual. Nothing more nothing less. If you worship the Lord in a pasture,backyard ,living room. You can worship all day every day no matter where your at. Even on your personal thrown if you know what I mean. If God is everywhere all the time. Anyplace anytime is perfect. Talking bad about ppl in church is sacraligous in my book .
I stopped going to church over 25 years ago for the same reasons.
The inner squabbles, gossip about one another, the pastors wife on the payroll without ever seeing her and the luxurious vacations they would take and bringing politics/ elections into it.
I’m a Christian but also stopped goin to church for the same reasons,was even married to a preachers son!To me,living ur life as a decent human & treating EVERYONE with respect & common decency is far more “Christlike” then making sure I go to church whenever the doors open…but that’s jus me;)❤

Why are you citing at California law when you have a First Amendment right to press? You need to start understanding how the law works okay so federally protected rights are first then there's state laws as long as they don't interfere with those federally protected rights. If they conflict in any way then the federally guaranteed rights are the ones that stand.

When auditors explain the First Amendment and free press, they still act dumb and ask for “press credentials”, so it doesn’t matter.
When asked by church members what you are working on, I would always tell them I am doing a story on widespread sexual abuse of children in church settings, then ask if they would like to be in the video.
