There’s Nothing like the satisfaction, of watching a great brush pile burn… after you worked so hard, clearing up an area! It’s like A spiritual Zen with nature!
Your poor soul….
what a cringe comment
Cringe, perfect word for what Kelly Meade said.👌
What I do with my brush piles is put a section of well casing so it ends in the middle of the pile, or near it, with the end sticking outside. Then I put a section of old aluminum downspout into the well casing. Then attach a leaf blower to the downspout.
You'll burn up a pile like that in the first hour. It's astonishing how much that speeds up the burn rate. And it'll incinerate those stumps too. I've melted steel in a pile before. The ash will get so hot it will fuse into a crude form of glass.
But it will throw sparks, so you can't leave it unattended. Worth the price of admission though. :)
Music selection is spot on! Thanks for highlighting good music.
Good Morning to the Morgans!.....and Morgan fans! Have a blessed day.......
Thank you! And may you be blessed today! 📚🫖🏕🌄🌲
What a nice burn Mike. I agree the hell will chipping and much more fun. Who doesn't like firers.
I'm not so sure the local fire company would agree with you were that fire to get out of hand. Mike is probably smarter than most people, but there are folks, (ones that like "firers") who would start that same fire on a dry day with a 20 MPH wind.
Good morning from Mayberry Morgans. I agree can't chip everything just takes too much time. A good safe brush fire is a time saver.
Morning Morgan fam! I had a friend who said, “I always like to cull turkeys in the spring!” Nice fire!
Thank you for another video. I thoroughly enjoy watching your content while my trailer is being loaded.
Same here.
Waiting in line to dump corn at an ethanol plant, or the co-op.
Waiting for the grain cart.
Fantastic video!! Last night during all of our tornado warnings here in Tennessee, sitting in our safe room, I was like “Sure wish I had a Morgan’s video to watch”. Would have calmed me too. I love a great fire! Strong work Mike. ((How’s Archie, all go well?))
Morning Mike and Friends.... looks like a nice day, enjoy yours....
Pete 🇨🇦
Way to go, Mike! You appear to have the right formula for things. Just keep it going and I will keep watching your great work.
The Finnish people has something called SISU. The AVANT 860i has it too!
(strength of will, determination, perseverance, and acting rationally in the face of adversity. Sisu is not momentary courage, but the ability to sustain that courage.)
Thank you! 👍
I also use my excavator to feed brush fires. One addition I made to my hoses down around the thumb to protect them from the heat. "Steel Spring Guard Flexible Pipe Hose Protector Metal Spiral Wrap Armor Cover". Gives me a warm fuzzy feeling.
Good for you Mike for cleaning up and selling what you don’t use…Smart
Good morning Mike and Melissa. I like that Avant, it looks like a good machine. It looked like Grandma was having a great time with the grandkids! Great video!👍❤️
Morning…..have a day “brushing “ up on your avant- skills.
Another great morning coffee and muffin video. Nice to seeYou mixing in some DEF fluid for an eco friendly burn! Everything is cleaning up nicely.
we use every tree down to about 2 inches for firewood .
Everything under 3 inches I chip for chicken bedding
Using and selling are horses of a different color .
Really enjoyed my coffee, Mike, with this video. There is something about a crackling fire, that is just built in our DNA, love it. The solo, the grill, the fire places, or just just a simple brush pile. Some people wonder why do i like Channels, such as Outdoors With The Morgans, well First, to me, they are a family that Lives the American Dream. The family works together, and it draws me. If you would have asked me 5 years ago would i be interested in a channel that cuts fire wood, uses a sawmill to make lumber, and various forms of equipment to do projects, i would have laughed. I have said this before, and i'll say it again, out of the 1200+ channels i subscribe to, your #1 "Out Doors With The Morgans", to me, it is not only a Norman Rockwell Photo, it is a Norman Rockwell continuing video [movie], of how lofe should be with ALL Americans, perhaps how life used to be lived before all the govt help, and i look forward each day, i know sounds kinda sappy, but i am not prone to lie, or keep my feelings silent. Thanks Mike for the Millions of folks that have enjoyed your videos, it is well worth the effort, and gives us Hope that ALL American Folks are not bad, many good ones are around >thanks :) 💯🙏
I must say the Avant 860 really makes moving brush, trees, and stumps a lot faster. When you got back on the excavator to grab some brush i was waiting for the grapple to swivel!, lololo.
Hello Mike and family.
Glad you didn't get any severe weather. The spring cleaning is going well and glad you decided to do it. Getting rid of things taking up space that you don't use and will help pay for the other projects on the schedule. The fire was awesome as always, it's such a time saver and will help the soil.
Nice job on the clearing Mike enjoy your day be safe and have fun
Love the fire! Gotta feed the pyro tendencies once in a while!!
Mike, use your portable water tank and pump for emergency firefighter water just in case. Better to be prepared than not. Will look great in the new field with new grass.
I have a multiple trailers .7 ton 18'.6 float ,snowmobile trailer 102"by 10'and a 50"by 10' utility with 16" sides and ramp and the list goes on .
G’day Mike,
Wouldn’t it be more cost effective for you to buy a quick release 360 degree rotating head for you kubota digger, rather than the huge outlay for the Avant articulated loader?
As in the hands of an experienced operator would be an asset, not only so there would be know need to be in and out of the cab to change bucket pins, but would make the majority of your attachments more universal.
Just an observation.
Keep up the good work, love the videos!
keep up the good work
The "digger" and trackloader tear up the ground big time. Not so with the Avant
Nice fire Mike . You work the Avanti very well . Saw you backing up in the articulated machine . You probably started out likke I did , the machines did not bend in the middle . Nice to see Melissa playing with the grandchildren > Thanks for sharing . Seeya
Good late morning Morgan Family. One of my favorite things to do ever. Burning brush. So much fun!! You have some very nice equipment!!
I use a couple pales of old motor oil dumped on the top and a splash of diesel and a way she goes!
Build a 20 ft wagon to put things on. That way, you can fill it up to go where you want to.
Good afternoon Morgans and friends. We're getting more rain here today but majority is staying to the north and it appears the same for you Mike. This evening will probably be a soaker for both.
I'll happily take all the rain we can get, wont be long and things will dry up and become hot and humid.
Mike how about that small mill that's still in the crate? Did you ever do anything with it?
Tell the family hello and have a day! Thanks! Be safe and we'll see you down the road......
I really like hearing what the Morgans have to say and enjoy seeing what they are up to.
I have run so much equipment in my life, it makes me blue in the face, I do not enjoy watching it working. I do like seeing what the new stuff can do. (I like the reviews) So I skip threw this part hoping I do not miss anything Mike and Melissa have to say.
Anyhow it is a me problem and they do a good job, I have sure people love watching it work.
BTW Yes, grading out a lot is deceiving. many people do not realize how being a inch or to off eats up material and time. Road-Graders make it look easy, But a Skid-Steer, you better be paying attention to your grade or you will lose a lot of time getting it right. I bet Mike is getting a little bit a settling with the rain as well.
Great job Mike. The Avant did a great job also!
Good video, the spring cleaning is so satisfy
I understand purging/selling equipment or tools that aren't used very often, but it's been my luck/experience that when I get rid of something, it's not long before I need it and wish that I still had it.
Burning brush/trash piles is actually one of my favorite tasks. I do the same thing. Wait for a wet day plus make sure that the wind isn't blowing too bad.
Hey Mike, why is it you don't leave some of your brush piles for the rabbits. Brush piles are perfect nesting spots for Rabbits. We have multiple piles on are property and they hold a lot of rabbits.
I could just set and watch that fire. I love a fire, its just relaxing. Have a great weekend. Stay safe everybody
Good morning I always get a good chuckle when you say weather guessers
After watching you run that 860 the Manufacturer need to offer as an Option for a wide angle Camera with screen in cab so the Operators can use that thing as a Skidder and stay seated forward without constantly turning there head to see where they are going. 🤘🏼🤘🏼🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
At 10:34 of the video , on the left you can put a building , spanning the start on the ravine . A entrance at the front and an exit at the rear .
You can still go around it like you do already down the lane leading out to the clearing . Start on solid ground on both ends and drive pylons so you can build over the ravine .
Good morning y'all !!! Best wishes for a great day to everyone !
The analysis of brush burning. I love it.
Good Thursday morning Mike, Melissa and family! Hope you’re having a great, productive week. I really like that Avant wheel loader, thinking about renting one this summer. Have a wonderful day!
Nice clean up work. Been doing exactly the same thing myself.
I don't comment very often but your choice of equipment has been spot on until you got this avant. You can move more trees and limbs with the excavator and skid steer. You say the skidsteer tears up the grass but in reality you're working in the woods not on groomed lawns.
Your fan, Stanley Johnston
You should comment less
He didn't buy the Avant
Just a thought. Put the stumps on top of the pile with the excavator and let them bake. Love your vids, work ethic, family morals and philosophical musings. Blessing to all.
My Shih Tzu enjoys Sundays foods. Thanks for leading us there as he is a picky little booger.
I just sold my car hauler recently. I bought it when i bought my BX and i only ever had to move it once or twice but i didnt even have to then. I was just being a good neighbor.
I just like the fact that there is so much more room for activities.
Its still a little early but im sure your looking for the baby deers...we use to see them turkey hunting....that back area is going to be sweet when it grows its seeds can't wait to see the progress
Mike you are right there is no perfect trailer for everything but having a couple may do. I'm just glad I have one so I don't have to haul stuff like Gravel in the box of my truck
Hi Mike. That Avant got me thinking..........lol. Anyway, here's a suggestion. Get an old furnace blower and mount it on a hand truck. Then use it to "supercharge" your burn piles. You won't believe how much the extra oxygen accelerates the combustion. If you want to test it, just hit your burn pile with your leaf blower. But stand back! 😊 Shalom/gw
Good morning Morgans. I hope you're having a cool day. The heat index of coastal Mississippi is 101 degrees and its not even summer yet. The Avant machine looks handy but it is more appropriate for working in tighr yards. I think it would be a bad investment for your wide open area If you have any spare cold air send it our way. Have fun and stay safe!
Yeah it's still raining tomorrow Friday I got a tree stump to burn myself we went to Johnstown PA to see my daughter and it was downpouring I like your burn pile I was doing really good thank you for the video
Sometimes a leaf blower helps on a wet brush pile if it dies down. Great videos.
Mike, what a fire you have there man that’s a night time fire to hang out nearby till it burns down 😮😊❤
Back in Illinois before I retired to Florida I had a Ford tractor, a two bottom plow, a cultivar and some other attachments that I sold to a guy who hauled it all on a very small trailer where the tongue was almost hitting the ground. Gutsy in my eyes. Now I wish I had the two bottom plow but people are so crazy that are selling them, that I won't spend the money. Most of the ones I've seen are missing some of the parts. So I will do without. When I bought my tractor the dealer asked me what kind of tires I wanted and decided on regular tractor tires.
Sometimes you need to purge. Avant is working great.
Hi to family. Take care
Mike have you thought about a rotator grab for the digger or even a vosch grapple saw, i know you like equipment so thought I'd give some food for thought, great video's 👍🏽
That was a great video Mike, thanks, looking forward to the new trailer!
Morning Morgan's!! Mike, purging the "herd" so to speak, can be very good for the soul. Lol!!
A tornado just passed me by 5 miles east of me on Tues.
Portage Mi. hit really bad. Trees all over the place. Enough down trees to keep someone busy for a year splitting 24 hours daily.
No deaths. FedX's new building was badly damaged.
For the first time ever, I had to go into the basement as the TV said to get in a safe place, a tornado on the ground.
A tornado just missed my house near Pittsburgh Intl airport Tuesday night. EF - 1 tornado. Glad you are OK.
Love watching you do your thing with the wood piles. Is the Avanti gonna be a regular partner with ya or does it go back next week. Just wonder-in. That machine is incredible. Seems to me you could sell the Skid loader and replace it with the Avanti 860i? But I'm guessing you are sold on what that Skid loader can do also. When you work with all the machines it makes it fun to watch the channel. That's the little kid in me I suppose. God bless ya Mike and Melissa.
Morning Mike. Hey that district rep for the loader looked like your nephew with a gray beard. Also he talked about the suitcase weights for the back, I think that beet juice loaded in the rear tires would be better. Have a good day!
I guess I have missed it but what is the purpose of the clearing? A new house build? Garden? Orchard? Animals? Love your property! All those trees!!!
I have to say, the slight change in voice when he said "You should chip your brush Mike" made it for me.
Mike, you are a magician with your equipment, but it looked like you struggled with the Avant when you were picking small trees up. It seems to be a very specialized machine. Would like your thoughts.
There is definitely a learning curve on that little green thingamajig. From an armchair operator perspective, it looked like you were operating an excavator ... several missed opportunities to just rotate the grapple and keep moving.
Wish I was closer to you, I would like to "Bid" on the deckover trailer. need to replace mine since I got a bigger tractor. John
I did a spring purge this year and sold anything that was not bolted down .
Satisfying burn pile. If you do get behind it is always nice to rent a 12 inch chipper. They really make a lot of stuff disappear quickly. I can rent one for the weekend for $275. If I collect all of the stuff I want to chip ahead of time and really optimize my time with it, it is well worth it. And you can use the chips for all sorts of stuff. Thanks for the video.
Good morning to Hunter 👋👋😸 and family and friends , I love that Archie is sporting a Mohawk in his cameo 😹😸😺
Happy Purrrsday everyone 😸😺
Morning BadCat still might rain, but sunny right now.... enjoy your Pursday..
@@peteatthefarm4459 / nice clear blue skies here in Mtl this morning 👍😸
Good afternoon gentlemen. Hope all are well.
Hey guys!
@@johnsadler8637 hope your having a great day sir.
I've tried using accelerants without much luck. What I've found best is to light my Weed Burner and stick it in the base of the pile. The accelerant I use is a 75/25 mix of Diesel and Gas.
I use old motor oil.
You appear to have gotten the hang of the Avant. Pretty handy tool to have around!!
Great video Mike. Keep them coming.
Different parts of the country definitely do things differently.
Rather than a burn pile that takes a long time, why not a large commercial wood chipper that can easily be fed by an excavator or the Avant.
Benefits are you can use or sell the mulch, along with use it anytime anywhere without concern of fire.
Good Morning, Morgans
Boy Mike, I could really use your help for about a week. You know how to get things done, I have so many trees down I don’t know where to start. 😅. Plan on doing a control burn once I get the logs separated from the tops. These loggers make a mess. lol 😂
Spring burns are cleansing
Mike, I go through this over the years....buy what I need that I can afford until needs change. There has always been someone who needs what I had, so it all works out!
Another success!!!
Nice job done.👍
I enjoyed this content, Mike, thank you. The "selloff" plan makes sense. I'll be curious to see what might be done with the freed-up $ value in the sale of the Bronco.
When my father was a kid in the 1950's, when they cleared land on the farm, nothing beat a couple tires at the bottom of the brush pile. My, how times have changed.
In Germany it is already forbidden by law to burn timber in the woods, without permission by the authorities and having informed the firefighters 😢
Morning outdoors fam👋👋
Mike, if you havent already, you should put trail cameras uparound the clearing, see what kind of activity is going on out there? During the summer months.
If you sell the deck over how are you planning on hauling your heavy equipment?
@@richardchristman8913 Did you miss the part where he said he has a new trailer on order?
@@tyendor503 I must have.
Ur excavator is a really good all round machine. Every man would love to have one.
Mike, you play great music. Keep it up, love it.
Mike, I feel ya on the trailers...seems like I need 5, haha. Very interested to see what you get, and your thoughts/experiences with your new trlr.
Awesome Fire Mike Way To Getter Going!!
Keep Smiling On!!
😅👍👊❤️
Good Morning Mike, I find it amazing that you still want to burn up small wood, rather than split it into the pizza oven size, or the shorter fire wood. I think you could have an easier time quarter splitting smaller size and keep the bigger ones for regular fire wood. I Hope You Have a Better Day, Boscawen NH
It's an opportunity cost issue. You could spend 8 hours splitting a small amount of wood from small branches. But if you have the resources, you could burn the small stuff and split big stuff into the same amount of wood in half the time. For me my hourly rate at work is about $80/hour. If I save 4 hours, I saved $320. If you spend your time making little money you can't make big money. Also, it means you have to spend more time working and less time with the family (in the example an extra 4 hours to make the same cash). That's how I rationalize all my decisions. Should I DIY or hire. How much can I save in money. How much will it cost in time. What's the hourly rate that works out to. If it is more than my $80/hour I DIY.
All good advice here, "Time is money, Money is time!".
Well said
Looks like green machine is a little faster than skid-steer if you have to go back and forth any distance. For short back and forth skid steer looks a little more nimble especially in tight quarters.
Use the money from the sale of your stuff to put on the Avant 860i, and keep the skid steer. Use money from firewood sales, lumber sales, etc, to finish paying for the Avant. Both are good assets. With all the roads and trails and projects you do, you'll have plenty of work for both. That was a good fire!! Thanks, Mike.👍🚜❤️🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸
Man that pump up sprayer is a great idea! I always waste a ton of diesel, throwing it on with a bucket or can. Never thought about using a sprayer, that’s genius.
Make sure you get a sprayer rated for harsh chemicals, the cheap one doesn't do well with diesel fuel
Hi I live in the Ohio Valley and I’m 76 your RUclips posts are great
Mike have you reached out to robotec to try out a rotator/tilt? I think you said it doesn’t fit in your set up but it looks like you’re getting more into it now. You could rework all your gravel drives with it and stack wood it’s just the do everything tool
What would be interesting to see is a side by side by side comparison of the skid steer, the excavator and the Avant with all their “booms” raised up for us to see the difference between the three. Would be very informative.
It’s tuff to beat a burn pile going up in flames👩🚒! Please tell Mr Hunter, Hey from Oklahoma!
Ya, I agree with you, chipping would take too long. Plus, the ash as krazy as it sounds is good for the soil, so don't bury it spread it around.
hi there that Avant looks very handy but to much going backwards , Some one out there needs to make something like that with a swivel seat so you are not always having to turn around to pull stuff , that is why i dont skid with my Bobcat ,,
I could see using that wheel loader on the red pines down in West Virginia. If you could push over the trees, and then use the wheel loader, that would be sweet.
Yes
That avant is a swing and a miss...

In what way?
