Personally, I do prefer the cluster red background over the blue

2016 GM changed GMC backlight from red to blue. Chevrolet was always blue backlight for this generation.

Did you have this cluster programmed or just plug and play?

You must have the cluster programmed or it will set codes / tamper flags. WAMS white auto media did mine but there are others the program clusters as well. You have to get a specific cluster depending on year and vin. Some offer the service with the cluster and programming all in one.

@@doctube2020 I bought mine off eBay. It came out of a 2017 Sierra 1500 Denali and that’s the same year as my Silverado. I just plugged it in to see what would happen because I heard as long as you get the same year, it’s plug and play. Everything worked fine and all the readings were accurate because I took pictures of all the menu screens on my old cluster right before I installed the Denali one. Only thing missing was my mileage. But it’s weird because it won’t show the mileage while I’m driving but if I get out of my truck, lock the door and let it set for about 15 minutes, then unlock it and open the door, the mileage pops up at the bottom of the LCD screen for about 5 seconds and disappears. Today, I took it to the Chevrolet dealer because I spoke to guy on the phone and he said they could program it for me. So I go down there and drop my truck off. They keep it for about 7 hours. A guy calls me and said they tried to program it 3 times and it wouldn’t take. I go down to pick my truck up and I have to pay 177$ for them not even fixing the problem. Guess I probably should have sent it off, they definitely got one over on me. I plugged my old cluster in when I got home just to make sure the mileage popped up and it worked just fine. Guess I can always plug the old one up for the mileage even tho it’s a headache. But if I sell or trade the truck in I can reinstall the old cluster. Or any kind of service done, it only takes about 10 minutes. Don’t most of the places who program them charge like 400$ ?

@@thedavid3737 I’ve taken mine to dealer with denali cluster a few times for normal oil changes and no one said anything or gave AF. You should call or email WAMS. They’ll need the vin of your truck and part number for Denali cluster to check compatibility. Everything works as it should in mine except engine hours started at 0 since it’s stored in the cluster. Mileage is stored in the engine or body computer so that didn’t change.
