    GMC now has the Android Auto app with the GMC Denali. Thanks to Dubby Jr for pointing this out. Curt will be pleased to know.
    Beatings will now commence....

      Full Octane Garage the gears is from 1 to 2 is what don’t like in my truck and GMC still has not idea other of that I love the truck.

    • @Fulloctanegarage
      @Fulloctanegarage  6 лет назад

      There is a computer remap that addresses it by changing the gear ratio. They don’t like to do it because it affects the gas mileage.

    This my honest review. A consumer who expects the best from the best at a reasonable price.
    I bought a GMC Denali 1500 model 2017.
    It is a beautiful truck and the performance is absolutely incredible. I elected to go with the 5.3 engine because I didn’t know how reliable the 6.2 litter are. The power of the 5.3 engine is great for my needs. I love GMC Denali; it was my dream truck. I considered other brands as well; but the luxury and comfort of this truck is second to none. One thing that I found weird is that the información of MPG is the same for both engine; since 5.3 litter is smaller than 6.2 litter, I thought the 5.3 was supposed to give you more MPG. I have used my car mostly in the city and I am getting around 17 MPG; I was getting the same in my Toyota Tacoma which was my previous truck with a considerable smaller engine.
    One thing that I haven’t still figured out yet is how to answer the phone using the components of the vehicle when I have it in. Bluetooth.
    To my surprise GMC still doesn’t offer the on start button. In opinion that feature should be a must for a truck with a price tag over 60K.
    Also, in order to increase sales GMC MUST find the way of creating more comfort in the passenger area. I have two kids, it will be more convenient to have more entertainment features. If Ford is doing it, why GMC is not. Also front wheel camera should be helpful as well
    I love my GMC and I will buy another one when the time comes. However I expect GMC to step up a little bit. Due to these facts I will give the truck 4.5 starts out of 5.
    Thanks

      You bring up some great points and specifically the lack of a start button and that leads to the lack of Keyless Entry. The one thing that does bugs me, this is the only modern car I have that I have to take the keys out of my pocket to enter and start the car. I agree, this technology has been around a long time and should be standard on the Denali. Curt

      Full Octane Garage I agreed 100% with you. If GMC does not step up they might loose educated consumers.

      Wow! great comments! I think we will put together a video concerning the phone intergration with the truck interface. A quick cheat if you are using Apple is to just say "Hey Siri, Call XXXX... " the phone will pick it up and the bluetooth will play it thru the speakers without pushing any buttons..."

      Had PB start in my last truck and didn't like it. Always bother me having to do so many steps to put my truck into acc for the radio, then it would shut off after 10 mins. Key is just better imo.

    Have a 18 Silverado High Country 6.2L it's a beast and will never go back to the 5.3L. I'm averaging 20 to 21 all day long combine and maybe 22 MPG highway that improved with the change of all fluids to Amsoil and no I'm not a dealer. Denali and High Country are very similar and the only difference is the grill and badging and magnetic ride.

    I guess the fact that you bought another one despite the shake issue speaks volumes of your opinion of the vehicle. Appreciate it as I am on the verge of buying the SLT and am comparing to the F150 Lariat, which is nice but just not quite as nice. Has a little less tech and feels a little less well appointed inside. Thanks.

    I test drove an '18 Denali yesterday, and the inductive charging pad on the console worked on my iPhone 8 Plus, but the phone was a little wider than the pad, so it did not sit flat. I think the iPhone 8 and X are the only apple phones with inductive charging capability.

    Just a tidbit, the GMC Sierra Denali also supports wireless charging (wireless chi charging) on the iPhone 8 and 10 models as well.

    • @Fulloctanegarage
      @Fulloctanegarage  6 лет назад

      Thanks! we are going to dig into this and make a video on the Android and Apple apps with GMC. I did try both my previous Iphone 6+ and 7+ with the charging cases but they did not work. I think it was because they did not fit flush in the charger. My tech savvy daughter now has the IphoneX. she said they have glass backs on the newer phones specifically to support wireless charging.

    I bought the exact truck and I have several issues. My truck has the 22 inch wheels and the ride is good on the freeway but horrible when going over bumps etc. The charger does not work on my Iphone 6+. Mine is the 6.2 and gas mileage is about 19 average. Overall I'm not disappointed but not thrilled either with my truck.

    • @Fulloctanegarage
      @Fulloctanegarage  5 лет назад +1

      right... the armrest charger will charger Iphones only in the 2018 models and forward. the Iphones must be Model8 and forward. The dealer talked my out of the 22" wheels because of potential ride issues. The 20"s are fine.

      Enrique Quintero It did not work with the IPhone8 that we tested it with. We now have a IPhoneX that we will check it with. The 2017 charger is not compatible with the IPhone. According to the dealer it was changed in 2018. The 2019 worked with both. Could have been a phone issue.Thanks for watching!

    Does the 2018 sierra have the somewhat concerning vibration/shaking issues I have heard about? Apparently pretty severe at around 60mph /100km per hour. Do the Full Octane Garage guys have any thoughts on the issue?

    • @Fulloctanegarage
      @Fulloctanegarage  6 лет назад +1

      I had the problem you mentioned really bad on my 2015 2500 Crew Cab long bed. There seemed to be a harmonic vibration issue. To be honest I do not notice the shack in my 2018 Crew Cab short bed all the way into the 80 range but when I hit about 85 I do sense a very small shake. Nothing like the 65 to 75 mph shake my 2500 used to have.

    • @Fulloctanegarage
      @Fulloctanegarage  6 лет назад

      The shaking on the 2017 started after 30K miles... not severe, more of an annoyance. felt kinda like a wheel balance issue (it wasnt) had the transmission fluid replaced and the computer remapped. seems to have helped some. We will keep you guys in the loop.

    Gent's I'm just about to pull the trigger on an 2018 1500 Denali Shortbox, brand new. The only hesitation I have is the fact the the complete lack of climate control in the back seats. I have a couple of questions for you: Have you had any issues with defrost or fogged up windows in the rear cab because of the lack of vents? And, have you actually had a passenger express being overly hot or cool if you have the climate control on auto and you take a short trip (15 min or so) to a store. Basically how bad have you missed rear climate control? A lot? A little? Hardly noticed? Etc.

    • @Fulloctanegarage
      @Fulloctanegarage  6 лет назад

      Thanks for watching, Josh! no issue with defrost or fogging... the back seat does take a while to get to a comfortable temperature. Using the remote start or the GMC app to give the h/c a head start seems to help a lot. Was not a deal breaker for Curt or me as we do not have any kids. otherwise, nothing rides better than the Denali.

Was there any major changes in the newer (17-18models) That's a must have? I would love to have Android Auto but wasn't sure if the 15's had that option. Going to look it in a few weeks if its still available.

    What’s a good down payment on a truck like this

    • @Fulloctanegarage
      @Fulloctanegarage  5 лет назад +1

      it all depends on your situation... you can typically finance 100% if needed but , of course, anything you put down lowers your payment and reduces the amount of interest paid. The good thing is they really hold their value well so the next time you buy, you should have some equity in it as a trade.

  • @salhabdullah4430
    @salhabdullah4430 6 лет назад +5

    its not the same motor you would find on corvette ,too bad, the cam shaft in the LT motor in a corvette or a camaro
    is much more aggressive , so the chevy sport cars makes away more HP compare to GMs Pick up and SUVs even if
    they have same displacement

    • @Fulloctanegarage
      @Fulloctanegarage  6 лет назад

      If we inferred it has a Corvette specific engine that was in error, we know the difference because we also have a 2014 Corvette. We were trying to highlight the fact that they are the same base platform as the Corvette LT1. If it was a Corvette engine it would have had 460HP and not 420HP :) With the truck intake and difference in head, tune and cam it is short 40 HP from our 2014 Corvette but as I recall the torque is pretty close. What I do know is that it is very quick off the line compared to the Echo Boost and other non-GM trucks I have driven. Thanks for the comment, Curt

      Actually, the truck comes with for drive modes... 2 wheel, AWD, 4x4h and 4x4L. I use 2 wheel most of the time and switch it into AWD during crappy weather . Used 4x4 a few times to get me thru some crappy job sites. The AWD mode progressively applies more power to all 4 wheels as conditions dictate. Either of the 4x4 modes puts the drive into full time 4x4 drive.

    Why on earth would you want a truck with that kind of power? To tow or to drag race? NO wonder all accidents/deaths occur in the large trucks.

    • @Fulloctanegarage
      @Fulloctanegarage  6 лет назад

      we do tow enclosed car trailers and the power upgrade certainly makes a difference over the 5.3. but to say ALL maybe a slight exaggeration ?

      @Fulloctanegarage  6 лет назад +2

      Thats fine and thanks for commenting... Gotta say tho, on behalf of all the RUclips creators out there... 10 hours of shooting and 10 hrs of editing, plus several thousands of dollars in camera equipment, not to mention the cost of the trucks......... free content for viewers (and I am one myself)... not such a bad deal. Just trying to cover some costs and improve our equipment.
      I make a point, as a creator, to watch thru advertising because I know what goes into putting content together. Again tho, we do appreciate your feedback and we consider all comments as we make more content in the future.

      I'll gladly watch a few short commercials.... so refreshing to watch informative videos not loaded with vulgar profanity and drowning in ghetto music !
      Thanks alot for all the hard work put into these and especially for filling me in on a lot of important info on the Denali pickups, I'm currently considering a '17 with the 6.2 . SUBSCRIBED!

      You rock Will! 6.2 is the way to go. We are suppose to get a 2019 in the next couple of weeks to review.
