    Denise Richards, it is somewhat common to see the flesh recede leaving behind a coral skeleton as a hammer grows, but you do not want to see it come all the way up to the tentacles. It's hard to pinpoint what is a healthy hammer coral sometimes because the heads may be well extended and fleshy but underneath the skeleton is in rough shape. I like to see the coral when it is retracted to see whether there is any damage or dying back of the inner polyp. Hope this helps.

    I have a hammer frag and frogspawn in my tank and they are the ONLY corals that I have had good luck with. They almost seem to prefer higher nitrates and phosphates and love two small feedings a day of reef frenzy. Just posted a vid of them on my channel.

    It's called an Australian Orange Hammer, but it is more chocolate brown with orange tips. There are Golden Hammers that are almost all orange.

    Would you guys consider doing a video on care tips for these animals like what they like to eat and suggested par levels and flow rates the wall hammer is a real finicky one to feed but I know they sometimes do eat finding what they'll eat has been my challenge

    What were the white circular dots on the glass? I noticed they also grow on frag plugs and snails shells too.

    Morgan, I suggest waiting another couple more weeks before adding coral. You want your tank to finish its cycle even before adding fish. One thing about this hobby, we have to be patient otherwise it will be a disappointment. Have fun!

    Hello, i have a question.
    i have a wall hammer but when i brought him home for the first couple of months i was slowly losing him but he ended up bouncing back, now here's the problem, his two sides have died and now full of dirt and algue. don't look like it will grow due to that. my question to ypu sir is, would it be better to just leave it and let it do it's thing? or cut the dead spots so it can grow? please help.

  • @ZachShannon
    @ZachShannon 10 лет назад +1

    Check your levels of salinity, calcium, alkalinity, and magnesium. this could be the issue. low levels of any of these will cause corals not to grow, also try replacing bulbs

    So when I cut off the heads of the torch coral branches, will new ones re-grow on the branches I cut?

    • @ConspiracySundays
      @ConspiracySundays 9 лет назад +1

      No, it's best to cut the head off 1 inch from the tissue, and then cut off the rest of the branch and discard it for asthetic purposes.

      Yes i have one and they are amongst the most beautiful, great polyp extension, usually more translucent with bright tips of the tentacles.

    Than,
    Good evening. I have a concern or question about buying hammers, and frogspawn. I live in South West Ohio. The stores close to home carry these corals, but the flesh on the stalk is often times retreated almost to the polyp head. Is that a bad sign? Should I be looking for flesh on the stalk that starts where it is mounted and continues all the way up to the polyp? The actual polyps look great on most of them, but I am worried there may be some necrosis going on, or if I were to buy one, take good care of it and feed it properly would the flesh grow back as the coral grows and then as it grows into multiple heads I may just remount it and take good care of it going forward? I've tried to take care of these corals twice a few years ago, they were of similar condition to what is available locally today and they did not do very well. I don't want to continue failing these corals. My intention is to provide a good home for them as close to nature as I can provide in captivity so that my family and I can enjoy them. What are good signs of a healthy hammer or frogspawn? Great videos by the way. Thanks.

      Some people call them water fleas but only because of the similarities in looks. No downsides to having them in a tank and 99% (probably 100%) of tanks have them
