    Holyhead is one of our ports on our cruise this June. Was it tough walking back from the lighthouse? Looks all up hill 😆

      It was definitely a workout. We stopped part way in a bench for a few moments. Some of our friends didn’t go the whole way because it was difficult.

    We’ve watched your video of Holyhead and the Southstack Lighthouse, and we’re wondering how you booked the taxi to the Lighthouse. We’re going to Holyhead on the Princess Regal in October and after watching your video, we absolutely have to get to the Lighthouse, but there’s not much on the internet on how get there. So any details about the cab would be greatly appreciated! Love your videos….there’re extremely helpful!

    • @CruisingCanucks
      @CruisingCanucks  Год назад

      It was a challenge for sure to figure out how to get a cab. We literally walked up to a local road and started calling cab companies. It took many tries to get one that would come to the port and then to the lighthouse. We then had to insure that the cab came back on time to bring us back to the ship on time. We had to pay cash with British pounds, no credit care or other currency. Also (this may sound weird) but it was very hard to understand the Welsh!! They have a thick accent and many normal speak Welsh. Thanks for watching and good luck!

    First port already looks like it was a great trip. Would you do this cruise again? (itinerary and ship)

    • @CruisingCanucks
      @CruisingCanucks  4 месяца назад

      Yes we would do it again. We found that Carnival offered a very reasonable rate and we knew that the draw was for us to go to all the amazing locations. We could of cruised with a more expensive line but we were happy that we were able to go for a longer time period by choosing to cruise Carnival.

    Another great video! I definitely loved the lighthouse! I guess the last thing the keeper says to his relief is "Don't forget your key!" Also, I may have missed it, but when did Carnival Corp declare war on Canada?

    • @CruisingCanucks
      @CruisingCanucks  Год назад

      You wouldn't want to forget ANYTHING when heading to that lighthouse for a period of time - the walk is no joke! I believe first shots were fired by Carnival when they removed Crown Royal from the ships(edit: or should I say bars, as it was still in the shops) earlier in 2022.

    I like tendering in a lifeboat. Impressive stamina doing all those stairs and hiking. 😅 Dinner seemed underwhelming, especially that pasta and the side veg. How are you finding food on regular nights as opposed to gala nights? Do you tire of the choices after so long on a ship? Our longest cruise has been 11 days so I wonder about that.

    • @CruisingCanucks
      @CruisingCanucks  Год назад +1

      We found the food consistant and good (not great.) It often tasted better than the presentation suggested. More lavish options on formal night but still the same. One thing we like about Carnival's menu is that there's lots to choose from - so we did see repeat menus after 12 days, but there were always alternatives that we wanted to try and a couple favs we had a second time.

    Wow, Carnival really took you off the beaten path! Holyhead looks amazing!
    As you show us more of the ship, I feel conflicted. On one hand, a lot of the public spaces of the Carnival Pride look surprisingly elegant. I take it this is a ship they often use for European cruises?
    On the other, it looks a little dated compared to videos I've seen of newer ships like the Virgin ships, the Norwegian Prima, and even Carnival's own Mardi Gras. From your own experience on the ship, did it look and feel like it's been properly renovated?

    • @CruisingCanucks
      @CruisingCanucks  Год назад +2

      It was a great little spot to stop!
      The Carnival Pride was last refurbished in 2019. It's certainly dated, and the original design choices make it look even more dated than it should. They've upgraded a few spaces (like the Alchemy Bar and Bonsai sushi) that are more modern.
      We knew all this going into the cruise and considered the ports the highlight and the ship more of a hotel - we are also used to the flamboyant style of that class of ship. We are on the same class of ship again in December, and it'll be interesting to see how it compares.
