Switch back to Windows 8.1, the Windows 10 had problems since day one. To me, it is like a half-ass and baked Windows, and nowadays, we are the bug tester, not them.

I'm using a Windows 8.1 right now, also nice comparison. I'm also looking to replace my flat panel monitor with a CRT monitor from the mid 1990's or early 2000's whenever I can or if I can.
In my laptop somehow windows 8.1 works better than windows 10! As for what i use it they both get the job done, but windows 10 gets a bit slower after a while!
after using Win 10 for a couple of hours, I'm seriously considering going back to 8.1. It had its weird designs, but somehow it just felt cleaner and better to use. Altho, IMO Vista was the best Windows ever and I'm sad that it's not supported anymore, otherwise I'd use that.
I remember Windows 8.1 running much better than windows 10, but windows 10 has a much more cleaner and nostalgic look. Windows 10 is easier to use but I've had a few minor problems with it. No problems with Windows 8.1. I didn't mind the start screen of 8.1, it was all easy to see. Only minor annoyance was the scrolling on the start screen which went left for down and up for right. Really weird. I know they were trying to make the whole operating system like a touchscreen but it just didn't fit. A computer is a computer, not a touchscreen device. They should operate differently because they are different devices. I prefer the look of 8.1 but would want it to work more like a computer, like Windows 10. A lot of basic features that should be on a computer wasn't there with 8.1, and it didn't feel like a computer operating system; more like a mirrored version of a tablet. I also don't understand how or why people would be offended. This is all mostly on opinions (you do have facts though) but if people get offended then they are too sensitive. Not your fault.
I'm stuck at Windows 8.1 because of low PC specs. Windows 8.1 Pros: -UI looks nicer (Including Start screen wallpapers) -Stable -Fast even on low-end PC -Updates are Monthly -Less bloated -Takes lower resources Cons: -Inconsistent ui for first timers unless you are used to it. -Windows store apps are decreasing -Program support is bad -Driver support is bad. Lots of drivers aren't made for 8.1 Windows 10 Pros: -Has Dark Theme -Few Features that is actually useful (e.g. Multidesktop and Task View) -Better program support. -Notification Panel Cons: -Updaes like every 2-4 days -Cortana (until 20H1) -Bad ui (Looks boring in my opinion) -Inconsistent Settings (compared to 8.1, switching between Metro and Classic is required) -Takes lots for resources -Too bloated (Also, sorry for the comments/replies I made last 2 years)
I dont think progran support is bad for windows 8.1 Sure some are windows 10 only like office 2019 but alot of programs still require windows 7 or later and they work on 8.1 just fine as far as i know. Although you are right about driver support.btw I use windows 8.1 as well
Windows 7 was the best and now Microsoft is ending support for it too sadly, but anyways it is vulnerable these days and due to that, is not so good as it used to be back in 2009-2017. I used Windows 8.1 in 2014, it seemed so tablet-like due to start screen, but the performance kinda increased compared to Windows 7. I started using Windows 10 in 2016 and runs pretty much the same as Windows 7 and sometimes better than it.
13:05 Finally! Thanks for clarifying that. I use IE11 as my mail browser all the time, most websites work, and when one doesnt i just use chrome for a little while
Windows 8.1 is lightweight actually... -less security updates Just annoying windows tab but i love how the search bar is not in the taskbar so it's less clutter below
What about windows 10 and windows 8.1 in the end of 2019? I currently am a windows 7 user but in 17 days they end it's support so i want to upgrade to either 8.1 or 10.
@InFiReS MaN i went for windows 8.1. Sooo much better than windows 10. It also isn't eating up a lot of RAM, almost the same with win7. And it kinda has fast boot times even on my old 5400rpm hdd.
If your on a tablet I would recommend windows 8 If your on a computer have 3 recommendations 1: windows 7 (worst choice because of ending support) 2: windows 10 (ok but could use a little work) 3: windows 11 insider preview (if you don’t mind the occasional bug this is the best option)
Windows 8 was a necessary step in the right direction. It's the OS that made all the Surface-like devices possible, and Windows 10 perfected the vision of 2in1-s. Thank God they changed what a PC is. Btw, Windows 10 also has a tablet mode. And in your videos, you only still use the OS' with a mouse and keyboard, like they were only designed for them. But yeah, Windows 10 is hands down much better.
Well... they should be. Nobody buys windows 10 for a tablet, unless it is win10S, which is way different type of system. I don't know what microsoft was thinking back then, but nobody is going to waste 10k for a laptop-tablet, when they can have slim laptop for 500$. Tablet-like display is not intuitive, distracting, and overall not helpfull to someone used to classic windows. And those dedicated for graphics, their users would not be happy to waste their $$$ panel to just move trough windows. In short: majority of users won't use their pc as tablet, and for majority it's just annoying if something is made with it in mind.
i prefer windows 8/8.1 more. windows 10 tracks telemetry and by default you dont get chromium edge??!! you know people like chromium. and you know there is classic shell dude. you might like to say Omg this start screen what hapened. no way dude. why because uhhh windows 8.1 and 10 still have boxes. and windows 8/8.1 mixes the aero and metro UI You kind of ya know when ya select something in the file explorer yeaah you get that partly aero vibe. so yeah i prefer downgrading from windows 10. and of course you can install the chromium edge web browser in case you want edge if not then i dont know. i use it on my windows 10. when i was stupid to use windows 10.
my first computer was on Windows 8 and I loved it! it turned into a tablet as well! now I have a MacBook Air (which I LOVE) and I got the Virtual Machine and loaded up 8.1! I get nostalgia from it now. good times...
Windows 8.1: runs smoothly, great graphics, new features, added start screen, easy personalising Windows 10: runs very smooth, great graphics, more new features, several apps added to store, start menu resizing and start screen, new notification area Windows 10 is my favorite operating system. (Windows 10 is also the operating system used on my computer)
@@arandomchannel1101 They added a shit ton of stuff better Xbox companion app with Streaming, windows store has a lot more use than 8, the new edge browser with chromium is honestly one of the best browsers out, 50x better than chrome, and of course they have cortana which I don't really like, they have a ton more stuff, but those are just some of things I can name off the top of my head
Not to mention that Windows 10 returning the start menu was released on the 20th Anniversary of the first version of Windows that used it in Windows 95 (maybe not exactly on the 20th Anniversary, but I find that time in between rather interesting).
till mid 2015, i was peacefully on windows 8.1 until a mysterious windows icon appeared at the taskbar section. then later i realized that it was an update option to Windows 10, and i was like super excited to use it... ( happiness doesn't even last a week ) after successfully upgraded to win 10 , i reverted back within a week... Windows 8.1 ❤️
Me too - i tryed now again with Win 10 but still Win 8.1 is better in my opinion. Especialy the look of Win 8.1 is better all the icons and also some funktions.
@ItsTalha THE BLOATWARE??? CANDY CRUSH SAGA IN THE START MENU, AND WINDOWS 10 IS SLOW! IT IS REALLY ONLY GOOD FOR GAMING. BUT OTHERWISE IT IS JUST A MASSIVE BLOATWARE OS. SEE PEOPLES REVIEWS AND TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK!
@ItsTalha true, that was also the main reason why I upgraded finaly to Windows 10 - now it seem that everything works fine on the OS side. Some bugs are solved others not but time will tell and I gues some improvements will come over the time.
I'm sure you've implemented Barnacles's advice on how to disable all the telemetry crap in windows 10. So I've got a question, have you encountered any other major bugs in the past 2 months? E.G: Windows sound apps hogging 100% of the CPU. I ask because Luke from LMG made such a claim a while back & that it was the reason why he was gonna leave 10. If you could get back to me on this I'd greatly appreciate it as I'm building my first PC in a couple months. So I need to decide if I should go through the long hassle of trying to get an older Windows from online & create my own bootable USB or simply get a Win 10 retail usb.
My laptop has 4 gb of ram... It's on Windows 8.1 pro before and I updated it to Windows 10..When it's on Windows 8.1, the available ram is 3 gb. Means 1 gb used. After updating to Windows 10, the available ram is 1 gb.
You know, I had Windows 7 and I wanted to update directly to Windows 10 after Windows 7 support ended but it wouldn't update, so I thought to update to Windows 8.1 and THEN to Windows 10, and my first impression was pretty bad, firstly, all my apps where deleted but thankfully not my files, the log screen is visually unappealing, same with the minimize etc buttons, it took time to actually log in and the cursor was clunky, but one day later (6/11/2020) it totaly changed (because drivers might got installed or smthing) and now its super fast, and now I got used to the buttons and login screen. Final opinion: Windows 8 / 8.1 is hugely underrated and its definelly better than Windows 10, its faster, better looking and more capable to do things like multitasking Also for those who are complaining Windows 8 / 8.1 is just made for touch screen oh boy they're WRONG
I agree I personally use windows 8.1 on my main laptop and it works perfectly. Although i do use classicshell and a vista theme not because i hate the windows 8.1 metro ui and start screen just i prefer a menu and a skeuomorphic design aesthetic. I agree thats its very underated and yeah people think its just for touch.
Already tried switching the OS between win 10 and win 8.1 many times,,my conclusion win 8.1 is better, faster, smoother even compare to the latest version win 10 1809
The only issue I have with Windows 8.1 is the awful start screen. Thankfully I can change how start looks and now Windows 8.1 is slowly become my favourite Operating System to use.
I had Windows 7 before updating to windows 10 on all my computers. Never really used 8, but I like how 10 is more like 7 than 8 was. It's sad to see 7 going away in the distance, because its what I rmember using for years when I got my first computer.
I liked this video and really value your opinion, which I use to help me make up my mind. But you must stop apologising and worry whether others may differ from what you think. It’s your video, your opinion and experience. Nothing wrong with that.
Why do people hate Windows 10? If it can’t run good, just get a new PC and stop using your old 10 year old computer. Trust me, Windows 10 looks way more modern and has better UI. Ahem, plus the start menu is better on Windows 10!
Disabling Lockscreen in Windows 10 (sort of): Search netplwiz in start search and launch the first thing. Untick the password requirement box. Now you will boot right into the desktop.
9:47 - The Microsoft App Store also wasn't intended to be used exclusively on a desktop PC. Microsoft intended Windows 8/10, the App Store included, to be used across all devices (laptops, tablets, phones, etc.). They were aiming to provide a single OS platform that could eventually be compatible with any device out there. The App Store isn't ideal to most with desktop PCs, but that's not the point. It's available to all devices, including desktop PCs, and some might actually like the occasional App Store app on their PC (me included). I bought an airline flight tracker on the App Store because I live far away from loved ones and they fly in all the time. I would have fun tracking their flight in real-time on a map with my PC while I'm doing other stuff. Then when they get close, I opened the app on my tablet and kept track of the flight as I headed toward the airport. Pretty nifty. Just one of a million examples I'm sure.
I would like windows 10 but there are some problems: - I can't uninstall those garbage applications that are automatically added to your pc. They will get restored pretty fast. - I can't disable windows update and they force me to do it even if I don't like it. On windows 8/8.1 I could disable that. - I can't disable windows defender. Whatever I do, he eats half of my computer ram/cpu and that sucks. There are ways of course but Microsoft disabled most of options for disabling that or updates. - I can't disable annoying Cortana that has no function at all. If you try to disable/delete her, your system becomes instantly unusable and unstable making it almost crash. Why is this happening I wonder? - Tons of new shit options and apps added that nobody but almost nobody will ever use. - More laggy, requires more resources and the fact that they are tracking me even more is concerning. More over, Windows 8.1 is far more better. You get lots of options, more customization and more rights to disable whatever you want. You don't want updates? No worries you can disable them. But say ''nope'' in Windows 10 about that. I just hope they don't end support for that too fast like they did for Windows 7.
i have windows 10 and im ok with it but i dont like how third party software is needed to fix some of the worse issues. early win 10 versions were bad and the start screen looks too flat. some comment i found idk if its on this video compared the start screen to a fisher price toy and i gotta agree
Windows 10 have too many problems, I prefer to come back to windows 8.1 or windows 7. Windows 10 Fall Creators Update have gave me too many blue screens and the mouse doesn't work well.
Not gonna lie, done two clean resets for both my laptops each in windows 8.1 and 10, and I am pretty impressed with the memory usage of windows 8.1, with 4gb ram only 35% LOL, whereas in windows 10, 4gb ram 55-60% memory usage, I cant believe windows 10 has soo many memory eaters when compared to older windows like 7, etc
I've upgraded my Windows 8.1 to 10 twice on the same laptop, then downgraded to 8.1 after a week, because 8.1 is so much BETTER and runs smoother. 8.1 > 10
Edge is actually the fastest browser today, and blew both Chrome and Firefox out of the water in synthetic benchmark tests. For POWER USERS who have many many tabs open, that's a big deal.
I could say the same about you being a Microsoft fanboy. Microsoft's browsers lack in features that a standard browser should always have. The only people who use IE are my grandparents.
I moved to windows 10 and i really like it. I feel it found the sweet spot between windows 8.1 and 7. The initial free upgrade was buggy as hell, but a reinstall and some updates later it works very well. The app store is nifty, but has like nothing useful. I have only downloaded one app from it, Kodi, and that has been really nice.
Never used Windows 8/8.1 before, but I use Windows 10,so after watching this video,I like Windows 10 as the same as Windows 8.1,can't wait to try it out.
I like to compare on an ageing laptop with integrated gfx to get an idea of performance. The CPU usage was lower on my laptop with 8.0 and 8.1. One of the last major updates to 10 felt like updating an old phone to the last workable OS (everything afterwards felt too slow). 10 used to boot up quite fast, about the same as 8.1, but no longer. It also feels rather bloated out with features I'll never use.

I've always wanted to try Linux but I'm worried about ruining my computer xD what would be the advantage though, of using Linux instead of Windows 10? I use the computer for basic stuff, like searching the web, youtube, hulu, etc. and playing pc games, but is there anything better on Linux, or is it more for programmer's?
Jdm262 the good thing about linux is it's security, most hackers wouldn't even atempt hacking Linux systems because they have security updates very often while it would take Windows months. The drawback is gaming, Linux can't play every game there is like windows. And the performance would just be better on windows. If you like gaming then I'd recommend using Windows, if you just like browsing the web then use linux.
Taylor Irving Thank you for the reply :) yeah I'll definitely stick with Windows. When I get enough money for a personal laptop, maybe for work or school I'll most likely switch over to Linux.
For some reason though, Windows 10 like to lock up on the log in screen all the time. Then you have to reset the pc, and reinstall everything again, that is so much fun.

Switch back to Windows 8.1, the Windows 10 had problems since day one. To me, it is like a half-ass and baked Windows, and nowadays, we are the bug tester, not them.

Windows 10 is my favorite! But 8.1 is also better than 8.
Yeah windows 10 is better than windows 8.1 but I hate the theme on Windows 10 it's look ugly
Richard Storey I like 8.1 because the ui is fresh and it works well on touchscreens and is fast. Windows 10 was okey, but now I kind of loath it.

@@kebab_hill k
after using Win 10 for a couple of hours, I'm seriously considering going back to 8.1. It had its weird designs, but somehow it just felt cleaner and better to use. Altho, IMO Vista was the best Windows ever and I'm sad that it's not supported anymore, otherwise I'd use that.
Windows 7 is basically Vista without the gadgets and is still supported.
8.1 has extended upto 2023
8+ startup and shutdown sound IS SOO GOOD I LOVE IT SO much.
10 = Lag, unstable fps 8.1 = The king of iron fist tournament
Windows 8.1 Pros:
-UI looks nicer (Including Start screen wallpapers)
-Stable
-Fast even on low-end PC
-Updates are Monthly
-Less bloated
-Takes lower resources
Cons:
-Inconsistent ui for first timers unless you are used to it.
-Windows store apps are decreasing
-Program support is bad
-Driver support is bad. Lots of drivers aren't made for 8.1
Windows 10 Pros:
-Has Dark Theme
-Few Features that is actually useful (e.g. Multidesktop and Task View)
-Better program support.
-Notification Panel
Cons:
-Updaes like every 2-4 days
-Cortana (until 20H1)
-Bad ui (Looks boring in my opinion)
-Inconsistent Settings (compared to 8.1, switching between Metro and Classic is required)
-Takes lots for resources
-Too bloated
(Also, sorry for the comments/replies I made last 2 years)
I dont think progran support is bad for windows 8.1 Sure some are windows 10 only like office 2019 but alot of programs still require windows 7 or later and they work on 8.1 just fine as far as i know.

Windows 10 uses more power and ram on $300 laptops, windows 8.1 eats less power and ram, but with less features. Who wins, Windows 8.1

you can get rid of cortana and all useless features that consume too much power, also there is still a way to delete cortana just much more tedious

In short: majority of users won't use their pc as tablet, and for majority it's just annoying if something is made with it in mind.
i prefer windows 8/8.1 more. windows 10 tracks telemetry and by default you dont get chromium edge??!!
you know people like chromium. and you know there is classic shell dude. you might like to say Omg this start screen what hapened. no way dude. why because uhhh windows 8.1 and 10 still have boxes.

yeah, the testers should test, not be laid off. Ask Barnacules.
I watch his videos all the time. That's partially where I based my claim off of.

Thats because new versions of windows use different storage units. You are using the same amount it just looks different
Final opinion: Windows 8 / 8.1 is hugely underrated and its definelly better than Windows 10, its faster, better looking and more capable to do things like multitasking
Also for those who are complaining Windows 8 / 8.1 is just made for touch screen oh boy they're WRONG

I would like windows 10 but there are some problems:
- I can't uninstall those garbage applications that are automatically added to your pc.
