    Flt Sgt Scott always seems to have more pep in her step when they play The Liberators. Maybe it's just because it's my favorite.

    Thanks for another excellent video, AFV. As others have said, no need to apologise - I think most of us are busy in our various ways. You've put the actual date clearly in the title, so absolutely no problem.
    Although I wasn't there yesterday (28 October) I see from someone else's video that those roadworks in the arch at Victoria Barracks were still there. Let's hope they don't take as long as the roadworks in Castle Hill!

      Thank you! I actually quite liked seeing something different as it gave me an excuse to put a rare title in! Thanks again!

    No need to Apologise at all!! I'm sure all your other Subscribers are enjoying your Videos of the London Guard Changes, I know I have Been.
    I wish to God Victoria Barracks would get those people digging up, what I consider to be the Best Acoustic part of the Windsor Guard Change, to get on with it! It's been like that for at least 2 Weeks. DM Scott leads out the Band of the Central Air Force, who sound very Good indeed & the Kings Colour Squadron look absolutely on Point. They both have done themselves Proud during their Stint at Windsor Guard Changes, I for 1 will be sorry to see them go. They have some Great Arrangements of Marches too, many that we don't often hear normally. Thanks ASV for capturing them on your Splendid Videos, so we could all enjoy the Spectacle, very much appreciated!!
    A comment from me, would not be a comment from me if I didn't mention the Band & their Music. This Band in particular I have enjoyed their Music immensely, Not only for some new marches for me, but for the way the form themselves with various positions of Instruments to suit the days Music Selection. You can hear the various Instruments individually & within each type of Instrument, you can hear them playing Melody & Counter Melody & they all come together to create the overall Melody & Counter Melody of the whole March. They do all this with no change in Volume between the Ranks, even when certain Instruments "Rest". The first Rank Eb Tuba, Bass Trombone, Trombone, Euphonium Trombone & the 2nd Rank Eb Tuba, Flute, Tenor Sax, Alto Sax & Eb Tuba, illustrate that very well as they come down close to Barracks playing "The Voice of the Guns", with the Rank of French Horns, tying them nicely to the Drums, Horns & Clarinets behind. It really is amazing how the positioning of Instruments different ways alter the Sound of the Music they play so much. As every Rank went past you could hear them all, even when some Instruments rested. Superb! Pure Musical Magic from Go to Whoa!

      Keep up the good work Vicky! I'm glad you're still enjoying listening to the music and dissecting the instrument layout in the bands, as well as all the other aspects of the parades that you cover in detail. 9.4 out of 10 for the instruments in the 2 front ranks - unfortunately not quite 10 because the "Flute" is actually a Piccolo, but very close!

      @@MikeM14-40 I was so pleased with myself too, working out the Sax. Ho Hum, back to the drawing board. It looked too long to be a Piccolo, I thought Piccolos were what the Corps of Drums played.

      Hi@@vickyRoyalHistory Sorry, but don't be too harsh on yourself! Almost always, in a marching band, such as at Windsor, it will be Piccolo(s), not Flute(s). A Flute is more for sit-down concerts and the like. The Piccolo can add great excitement to the rest of the sound of the band in a march - a classic one for me is the new tune halfway through HM Jollies. A Flute is *much* longer, about twice as long. I think (although not a woodwind expert, so happy to be corrected!) that the Piccolo plays about an octave higher than the Flute. A good view of a Flute is in the video of the concert by the Band of the Royal Yeomanry that "Mr B" uploaded this morning, which I see you've already seen and commented on. It's the instrument that the lady right at the front is playing.

      @@vickyRoyalHistory The Corps of Drums play fifes, which are slightly larger than a piccolo. They have just six holes, and no keys.

      @@MikeM14-40 Hi Mike! Yes, he's just posted part 2 of the Concert! & Bless him, he zoomed in & there's the Flute & right next to it is a Piccolo, I really can't see how I misnamed it, they're really quite different. You can hear them being different too.

    What has happened to the officers? Are they to busy to go on parades these days?

    • @vickyRoyalHistory
      @vickyRoyalHistory 10 месяцев назад

      I think that the Air Force have a different Set up to the Army but if you look at 3:08, you will see between the Band & the New Guard of The King's Colour Squadron, there are The Escort, then An Air Force Officer with a Sword, then the New Guard detachment of approx. 15, then at the Back, the Sargent Major with his Pace Stick & next to him A Colour Sargent. So they have some Officers but not as many as the Army deems necessary. Maybe it's that the Air Force are better behaved than the Army & don't need the same Supervision?🤣🤣🤣

      Each Guard has one officer. Windsor Castle Guard only has two officers when a Colour is carried when the Sovereign is in residence.
