@@marswcw They seem to play it at almost every Guard Change they do. It's a very Popular March too.

Nice to see the RAF for a change. 2 bands as well. Their bright and shiny uniforms and style a marked change from the other services. With their iconic light blue colours bringing up the rear. Then with "aces high" to finish it all off. Time for me to get out the old "battle of britain" film again methinks.

Unusual to see a base in the front row of the first band

Hello Nigel, that's not a bass (tuba) in the front row of the first band, it's a euphonium.

Yay! I love to see the RAF Bands, but then I'm Biased, my Dad was RAF.
They are BIG Bands, or seem that way. Interesting to see the Cranwell Band heading up to SJP. The Drum Major is very Stiff & Formal Carrying his Staff well tucked up & the Band following him, perfectly Dressed & Drilled. I do love the way the first & second rank mark time as the rest of the Band wheels out of Marlborough Rd, then they step off beautifully, so the Dressing just naturally occurs, it looks very professional. That was why I was so surprised as they Marched down The Mall, at how low the Sound Volume got. I know it's not Mr B being deeper than normal from the Kerb, because the Audio still picked up the Sound fine, with "National Emblem" & most of "Sarafand", perhaps it was the Arrangement, or the Configuration of the Band. I did notice there was no Bass Trombone, the First rank being a Euphonium flanked by Two Trombones either side, followed by I think there's 2 Eb Tubas, 2 Sax & another Euphonium in behind, so it's all up to the Tubas to provide that Deep Meaty Bass. When they get to the Start of "Sarafand" at about 13:15, you can hear the Lack of that Bass & perhaps that's why it sounds so quiet. I'm used to hearing the Lockwood Brothers & Mr Craik announcing their presence at that point. Having said that the Band looks good & sounds good overall, just a little quiet.
I'm so Pleased to see DM Jeanette Scott leading The Central Band out of WB & up the Spur Rd to BP with the New Guard. She is another Elegant DM & a Consummate Professional & a real Pleasure to watch. The Central Band has the first Rank all Trombones, I can hear a Bass but I can't see it, unless its the one closest to Camera & a 2nd Rank full of Tubas & Euphoniums. I suspect some of those Euphoniums to be Baritone &/or Eb Tenor Horns because "Some of these things are not like the others, Some of these things just aren't quite the Same" ... but my eyesight isn't good enough to see. To me, they sound better, even when different Instruments make a Cameo, the Volume doesn't drop significantly.
Those King's Colour Squadron Chappies are rather Smart, are they not & Perfect Drill too, very Impressive!
Oh! And they've gone one better than the Guards Bands, instead of just the DM's playing Swapsies, the whole Bands have Swapped, very Sneaky!
It wouldn't be an RAF Band if they didn't throw in Aces High somewhere along the way & there it is at 30:16 but to be honest I was looking at the Police Horse Showing off, high Stepping & half passing up the Mall & almost into an Extended Trot! I noticed a couple of Shire Cross/ Dray Police Horses earlier too, beautiful Animals & just like Riding a Rocking Chair.
Brilliant Video Mr B! Just like you hadn't been away. Good to see you're in training for TTC in a couple of Weeks. Great Job with this especially as it looks to be getting to the Crazy Crowds Stage again. The Weather looks Lovely too! Thanks for Sharing it with us!

There is a Bass Trombone, nearest the camera. A very fine one at that.

@@tomchallinor Hello Tom, if you mean in the Central Band, I was pretty sure I could hear one & thought it was one the end & closest to the Camera, but the angles weren't right for me to be sure. Was that you?

Thank you Vicky, I love seeing the RAF as well, they always seem to do just that little extra, like when going past Buckingham Palace and doing the eyes left they call it "compliments" "eyes left", the counter marching up at St. James's and the little section at the beginning of the video when the guard were going on duty at Buckingham Palace, the NCO called the guards out and inspected them there before heading out to the front of the Palace. And then to finish it with one of my favourite marches made for a great Guard Change.
