See the shadow of your better half following on her pushbike, important to have good back up, brilliant. Interesting to see wheels day and how your custom cars/trucks are the same but different from ours over here in the US.
It's been a long hard slog building this car and I raise my glass to him. Completing it without spending the "Bolivian National Debt" has only been achieved with hard graft and perseverance. The commitment to work late into the night, in an unheated garage in winter, is the indication that this guy is a "doer" rather than a dreamer. If he doesn't get his MOT I shall eat my hat, and its a bit hat!
thanks as always Steve, coming from someone who is also building a a very Austin special too, I really appreciate the complement ....be nice to see them together mate
I happened upon this channel accidentally, and on my day off instead of cutting my lawn because the wife had a list of crap for me to do I grabbed a beer and power watched the entire build! Loved every real world second of it! I'm am a new subscriber and can't wait for future builds . Thanks a lot.
Drives like that are what it's all about. Minimalist, visceral roadsters or specials or speedsters are the best little cars one could play with. Yours is one fine ride.
Awesome stuff! Brilliant feeling getting to drive a project after so much work and effort into it. Well done that man 👍👍😎. This is right up my street and kind of problem solving I love doing and watching other folks doing the same. Keep at it Brian . 😎
The Rat really drives well. I was amazed at how (relatively) little snagging was needed - especially with the brakes and throttle linkages. A great result.
mate it was pretty much as easy as that ...i love the brakes, the steering runs real straight and is super precise and light...theres a few little jobs want looking at but most is finishing stuff off ...well happy mate ...cheers dude
To say it's not really a hot rod is not the truth . You don't have to have a V8 with a blower and big fat tires to be a hot rod . This little rascal is definitely a hot rod . And a lot of people don't know what a rat rod is . This little car is full on rat rod as well . You my friend are a artist and that little hot rod is a masterpiece. Nice job man 😎👍
Great video, I have really enjoyed watching these video's over the past year. I love to see how we all do stuff different ways. Was good to meet you at wheels day and have a chat. I remember seeing you old Hotrod at Shaky all the years ago. I'm sure I was in the crowed that day too. thank you for the stickers too going on my tool box...
Thanks for the entertainment, really looking forward to the next wild project from you, it's been fun, the excitement and following your experiences, whether it's been downhill or you've had success, and your always infectious mood
Another really great video Bryan sorry I missed wheels day I know the feeling of taking something fresh to a show your face said it all. Well done for getting it there...it drives great and certainly looks the part😎
She pulls along well! As others have said, that smile on your face is quite something! I still got that BMW 2L straight six if you want it, but appreciate it's a bit new.
Lots of little "cut and shut" bits done✅️ Fuel system sorted✅️ Brakes fettled ✅️ Show attended✅️ Run down the lane✅️ A Million Smiles Per Gallon✅️ Good on yer, Bryan!👍👍👍
Looking amazing,Bryan really gets the look of a thirties hill climber.wish my roadster was progressing so quick but these old bones making progress glacial.hoping to drop engine and trans in very soon .😢
Alright buddy, loved the video, sad to think the Rat is nearly done, been compulsive watching for me, it will good to see what you add the Oak Swamp touch to the 12, have put the 10 on the back burner to build a cafe racer for my grandson from a er5 kawa. Catch you in the next one.Dave 🏴
What a bumper episode. So much good stuff. Really great to see you getting to share it with the people at the show. One tiny thing that might be worth adding - a couple of little handles or things to hold on to for the passenger. The driver can hold onto the wheel but the passenger can easily get distracted and inadvertently stick their hands in the spokes or elbow on the tyre - ask me how I know :)
thanks Stefan, yes I intend to do exactly that...maybe some little fenders to stop elbow tyre interaction too ! I felt the tyre tickle my elbow a couple of times..😁
I think either a flying 'A' badge from an A35 or the holy grail Motometer winged thermometer would look awesome on the rad cap of Ian, for the shocker dogbone bushing I have some 2" round hard nylon stock that I made bushes for a mate's Range Rover off-roader if its any help to you Bryan. Great job finishing him off!
The Rat looks "right" bumping along that lane. Let me know if you're going to take it for a run to Brooklands, I'll tag along. It would be a great place for some photos if you can get the Rat on the banking.
I love this car. Not looking forward to it being finished (ie there will be less vids on it; hopefully it'll be a project that's never fully finished, if you know what I mean). Top work :)
@@oakswamp yep, appreciate that's he way things roll (and sadly on the wrong side of the planet to become his owner). Will totally still enjoy your channel, even if nothing hits the spot quite like Ian.
I put a Dodge 6 flathead in my A roadster, on the 104.5 wheelbase. The 230 block isn't as long as a stovebolt but if I had put an extra 4 inches in the chassis the whole build would have been much easier and quicker.
Im also using a mopar flathead 6.truck engine and trans in a 23 chevy 1/4 eliptic springs and a 23 t roadster body.75% done with fab work.looking foward to driving it some day soon, aka this summer hopefully.
I also used front and rear axles from truck.neat units.motor trans and brake pedals and master are 1 unit.solves many problems and mounts in with 2 mounts in front and 2 bolts and mounts on bellhousing..very simple .

really loving how this has come together, have you considered a really cut down rear arch to give a tiny bit of elbow protection? in my head a single rear arch from a motorbike, cut down so it just covers the front corner, maybe only 12" long and going about half way across the tyre? just enough to stop the driver from catching their elbow on the tyre? and any chance of a long sleeve t-shirt option? (better for protecting my arms from grinder sparks!)
hey mate yes been considering like a little fender ...but it hasnt been an issue so far ... ive felt it tickle on my shirt a couple times...i think baggy cothes ...and long hair , like my mate Joe who sat in it pose an equally scary threat🤣. ill look in to long sleeves dude
