      I walked through this boat and thought the finishes were not well executed, you don't expect a poor paint job with that asking price. Also the roof light in the main bedroom made it unbearably hot. I prefer something more understated and classy. For me the Swan boats knocked spots off everything else we looked at.

      @johnmules5954 2 месяца назад

      Whilst I'm not a widebeam fan, the concepts and interior design of Lunar were great. Unfortunately, the finish was atrocious 😢 you can see the chipping of the tile edges even in the video and the sealant work looked as though it had been done by a reception class child. Ragged cuts around the porthole in the galley/saloon area and the chimney exit through the deck head looked almost dangerous. The lack of attention to detail in their show boat and self-proclaimed 'most expensive boat yet' was telling. In my eyes it was made worse by hearing the company staff running down the potential owners to people viewing the boat. There appears to be a dispute between them but the behaviour I saw and heard would put me off using them as a builder. (This my view only and is likely to go contrary to those who saw the style and missed the lack of substance)

    Not quite related to the video, but sort-of is cause I thought of it while watching this video… Why don’t narrowboats collect rainwater? In Australia where water is scarce most new build home needs at least at minimum a small rainwater tank to meet planning requirements, off-grid homes always have large rainwater tanks. You guys have to go to water points to get water and worry about running out, which can be difficult in winter… yet it rains a lot? Wouldn’t it make sense to collect the rain and filter it for domestic use?

    • @onedaymoreaboard
      @onedaymoreaboard  2 месяца назад

      Hi Cheryl, thanks for watching. We have seen one or two boats with rain tanks in their well decks. I can imagine they might cause problems with “listing” unless the same on either side. They also take up a lot of space which can be quite scarce. The alternative could be to drain into the main fresh water tank but that would contaminate the tank and then require filtering all the water from that tank. Not a straightforward answer I’m afraid but perhaps something to think about. Some new boats do have a system to filter canal water. We usually go around a week on a tank and pass water supplies every few days when moving so it’s not usually a huge problem for us. 😊

    • @beautifully_wonderfullymade
      @beautifully_wonderfullymade 2 месяца назад

      @@onedaymoreaboard I wasn't thinking why they don't have tanks, sorry my mistake. Of course there wouldn't be room etc. I forgot the "tank" is called a welldeck. I was wondering why the rain water didn't filter into the well deck like they would in an Australian tank. They have a filter before the tank to remove leaves etc, the drinking water is filtered, but often the showers, toilets etc aren't so refined as the drinking water. It is a big set-up I guess, but Australia you can't always rely on a big reservoir to supply your needs. Even in the city water is unreliable. Restrictions can mean reduced showers, being ultra conservative with washing dishes etc, carrying buckets of dishwater/showerwater to water your plants, letting the grass/gardens die. Having a rainwater tank gives a person a backup when this scenario occurs. In Australia it happens often enough to think you shouldn't rely on the "city tap".

    I felt Crick this year was lacking! The weather played its part of course, but it wasn’t the weather for me…it was the soulless shinny attempts on show? Don’t get me wrong…There were some lovely boats there, but is it me or are all the main players trying too hard? It was all too much gloss and metallic going on…the build quality too was questionable and some looked very hurried/rushed, irrespective of whether they had hundreds of people walking through them!
    The Money wanted for these vessels was alarming too, we’re does that stop…270k for a bespoke Narrowboat? I couldn’t see that money! Last year’s Narrowboat winner was a well crafted inventive, somewhat original styled boat, thankfully this year’s winner not one of the main players…but still somewhat normal in its layout and look, nicely finished and all, but thats all for me? The widebeam, well for me the classy Abode MK2 was nicer🤗.
    I fear that the waterways are being clogged up with overly shinny soulless boats that cost up of 250k, with far too much tech…lacking real character and real Narrowboat presents…for me the likes of the Ovation Boat, the Bluewater boat, even the Braidbar, or even the sailaway shell at Colecraft we’re more inline with a good, honest stylish modern narrowboat, well crafted and laid out…yet understated and real, with good open solid build quality. But hey…only a personal opinion🫣!!
    The rest of the show was off quilter, the shops, food etc….the RUclipsrs I saw/met were I am sorry to say lost in there little spotlighting moments, which lead them to be aloof, one couple in-particularly was very aloof, of which I was one of a few ‘normal’ folks at that stand who felt there attitude was off! Again…only my opinion…but come on, please don’t get lost in the whole celeb/RUclipsr thing….it don’t really wash well in todays narrow thinking world, especially when my wife and I bumped into another RUclipsr couple around a corner having a good old ding-dong, smashing the loved up illusion somewhat🥴
    I know many won’t agree, but hey…I spoke with many who felt similar…insiders, boat builder and suppliers alike who all felt there was a uneasy, somewhat trying too hard to achieve/win, to be all shine and no true substance…rather than display great original well crafted and thought out Narrowboats, with a respectful nod to the past, to the future, all delivered in a beautifully executed, designed lead innovative way…with change out of, let’s say 180k? (Yeh right😥, or at least for a good old diesel fed boat)😍
    Anyhow….as per a nice vlog, look forward to the longer edit to come…but all in all for me and others I spoke to and heard chatting, whilst walking back to the swamp, sorry car park…it wasn’t as good as last year and needs to rethink how it stages the event next year, the layout for one…all the gloss in one area is too much….space them out better and maybe they will shine better🤓!
    Over and out! 🤐😘✌🏻.

      @onedaymoreaboard  2 месяца назад

      I think you're right Helen, and we noticed the same on some of the boats. I know there is a big rush to get boats 'Crick ready' but that leads to corners being cut. I hope the builders go back and rectify after the show for the new owners. Not sure what you mean by RUclipsrs acting like celebrities? I can only speak for ourselves obviously, and hope you're not referring to us, but there was a noticeable difference for us to last year of being recognised, as our channel has grown so much in the last year. We hope we come across exactly as we do in our videos when we meet viewers, some of whom want to stop and chat and enjoy doing so, and we love putting some faces to names of some of our regular commenters 😊

      We were there on the preview day on Friday. At least we had good weather! But next year we will go on another day, although it was lovely with minimal queues to get to see the boats. If ever I bump into you I will say hello!@@onedaymoreaboard

    Like the walk through but to the side bathroom of the narrowboat but thats it 😂 Generic reverse layout are all the same now, not my cup of tea at all.

      We were saying the same thing David how there were hardly any, if any, traditional layouts! Reverse seems to be the way it is now 🙄

    A beautiful boat in almost every way. Pity the location of the statue of Lord Buddha is offensive. He should never be placed where he can see the soles of a person's feet.

      It was a beautiful boat, you're right, and I'm sure the owners wouldn't have placed Lord Buddha in such a place as you mention had they known. I have learnt something new today from you, so thank you for mentioning it. Thanks for watching 😊
