Pet Shop Boys’ second hit single is still one of their favourite tracks and features in the current Dreamworld tour.
This track is included in SMASH - The Singles 1985 - 2020. The complete collection of Pet Shop Boys singles in chronological order. “SMASH" will be released on Parlophone on June 16th in a variety of formats including 3CD box set, 6LP vinyl box set and digitally, as well as two special limited edition formats available exclusively via the Pet Shop Boys store - 6LP white vinyl box set and 3-cassette box set. A 3CD/2Blu-ray edition will also be released which includes the complete video collection of the singles plus extras.

My first exposure to Pet Shop Boys was hearing "West End Girls" on the car radio in 1985 while a college freshman. It was just okay. But a couple months later they released "Opportunities" and THAT song spurred me to rush out and buy "Please" which I listened to over and over. But it was "Love Comes Quickly" that made me realize how musically gifted the boys truly were. Been a fan ever since.

I absolutely love the pet shop boys, I was 17yrs old when I first heard West end girls. Neil Tennant what a talent. Sweet times to be a teenager. I loved watching Top of the pops, and going to Woolworths to buy 7" vinyl records . I would not swap that time for anything, we were a lucky generation. 😀
This song perfectly captures some incredibly powerful, beautiful, and benevolent life force that has never been named but we all know.

01:04 Keyboardist Chris Lowe is so incredible beautiful. He really had a cool thing going with his jacket and BOY-cap.
What's amazing is how timeless all these songs are. This one doesn't sound specifically 1980s - someone could easily release this song now as then. That goes for nearly all their work, except when they are consciously replicating a particular style (eg I get along). Even then their songs never sound dated.
Neil 's head voice is gorgeous. One of his best renditions! Pet Shop Boys are majestic!
I saw a clip.from a radio interview with Noel Gallagher he said he loves this song wishes he had written it. A killer melody line a classic off one of my top favorite albums of all time.
