My these blokes arent megastars is fucking beyond me. Best live band ever, best rhythm section of any band. That is best piece of live music I have ever heard. One of the top 3 bands ever to come out of the UK along with XTC and the Beatles.
They certainly knew how to put on a show. Saw them a few months before this in a tiny club in Leeds, I was just a few feet from them. Amazing gig. Great players, great music. They deserved more success, but hey, the best things aren't always popular with the masses.
Am I the first to comment on this brilliant piece of music? Frank looks spangled as usual, I can't see the the other guys. Bass and drums are impeccable as usuall. The guy in the hat came out to play. I'm blown away. Have all the albums and now they are here on the Tube..incredible. B/Days etc all rolled into one. I've even got a stiffie for the first time in years. Cheers! xxxxxxxxx
Pocinos mountains in Upstate NY near Philly. There is a minimum number of people that have to be there-25. He doesn't want to come to Ricky Gervais's house and play to him sitting on the couch in his underpants sipping wine. It's very intense and fun and we're having an Indian themed party after. he sticks around for that. My friends were really surprised at how funny he is and good at telling stories the last time and were blown away by the music.. it's an incredible night!
God, the posting is 5 years older than a gig nearly 2 decades prior.Still the best noise I've heard in ages, hystorica...hysterically speaking. Frank is the dogs', but without his crew, he'd be cat. Percussion, keys and bass are a lesson to them that say "We need to learn a lesson" and "Lessons have been learned". When a Politician says "Lessons need learning", you can almost smell the bullshit...stock phrases and cant are obligatory. They are screaming on the beaches..the sea is in their living room you tosser. All in Red next, great manly guitar...most of these Politico Tintin lookalikes are ...Still too Young to Remember....da da dah dee doo wee....
Have been a real die-hard fan of Yes since they started their stop/go progress. It Bites filled what I thought was a gap, but was a band that turned out to be a whole new energy.
They were probably a bit too complex musically for the mainstream. Most of their best stuff has so much interesting stuff going on, especially the tracks on "Once Around The World". I also think there's something about them that was slightly uncool...I don't mean that as a negative. I mean that they were more interested in being musicians than in pushing an image. And their lyrical content is quite eclectic, not quite having that (bullshit) veneer of mystical authenticity that some bands have.
Somebody on here said Frank came round for a jam as well. Accessible uber musos might be the "new arena". Hope Monday goes well JTL. Am a bit jealous. Tell him I can do him a blinding curry (well not blinding...maybe eye-opening) and thank him for some great moments. It Bites, It Chewed, It Swallowed!
When you put it like that it makes sense. I was sorting of thinking along the lines of a tutorial session not a mini gig. Does he mainly live in the States now then?
Please tell me I've got this wrong. First time I've seen this live footage. 4:30 onwards I was looking forward to Mr Beck getting out his Korg RK-100 and it's like he's not playing it or "finger"-overing (like voice over but with fingers) or has some arpeggiator thingy going. What am I missing!!!!????
He is playing every key but he's got a lot of modulation in there mixed with staccato playing. Because his hand is spread out he's playing a different note per finger so it looks like he's playing a chord when he's not. Trust me, I wore the VHS tape out of the Town and Country gig learning this solo.
Frank clearly couldn't be from the same gene pool as Kurt Cobain (he sings brilliantly, and on key, and is a highly skilled guitarist unlike Cobain who was,at best, mediocre. He is also an absolutely captivating performer...amazing to watch; owns the stage!!!
You can go on his website(-his name + dot com) and sign up yourself. If he's playing to soccer moms in the burbs, i'm sure he can handle your pad. Unless you're in Borneo he'll come. All it takes is $1,000. Yes-we're having curry. My friend wants to murder me with his new indian dish-a mexican burrito stuffed with curry powder. No wonder Ghandi weighed about 45 lbs and wore a diaper! (nappy)
I absolutely love both It Bites and 90125-era Yes. If you dismiss the latter as mere "AOR", you seriously need to give the album another good listen. It's more commercial than "Relayer" or "GFT1", but it's still complex music played by musicians at the top of their collective game (oh, and the small matter of the best producer in the world...)
Seriously…This is objectively one of the greatest, guitarist performances of ALL TIME…

When music is this pure by nature, it will not attract AOR radio listeners! It’s too bad that the music s complexity is its beauty!!!!!!!.

Awesome track,class band !!

Yep, definitely a bands band,,,
He does house concerts now. Go to his website and sign up. He's coming to my house Monday and I'm no one.
This is to Prog Rock as Galactic Funk is to Fusion Live Videos

I'd say this chorus part might have been the origin of the Drum'n bass

It's MIDI-ed to his Keytar.

No, This will not attract those who bought 90125..............
