Immensely talented band. In my opinion, Francis Dunnery is one of the greatest guitarists ever, and I've been playing guitar all of my life; I don't care if almost nobody mentions this genius among the ranks of the "usual" charts about all-time top players, to me he's nothing less than one of the very best guitarists out there.
This is such an under appreciated band, they deserve so much more recognition
Damn this is so much better than the radio version. These guys certainly kicked ass live.
One of the best band of the 80s. And Once around the world remains a masterpiece
My GOD! I loved this song back then... but like others here... being in Australia I had NO IDEA how good these guys were live.. this is off the chart!!!! Bugger me!!!!!!
"It's been a great pleasure listening to your musical excellence" 34 years and counting. Well done fellas really great track still rockin' it 🥰
Saw Francis Dunnery perform solo in the early ‘90’s at The Duchess in Leeds. Very entertaining performance and funny guy as well as talented musician.
This is beyond belief..
Incredible... Always loved this song, but did not know how incredible good the band is live
Saw this lot in a night club in Manchester about a year before this. They blew me away. Thought it might have been cos I'd sank a few, this proves what I've been telling people for years. Magnificent live band
What a performance,Loved this song back in 1986👍
Seen them at the Town and Country Club London in '89 I went home the next day as I had gig with my band and on the road to Whitehaven A595 Frank Dunnery was in the car in front of us, he waved at my drummer Charlie, I shouted out the window. "Great gig last night!", he must have either thought i was stalking him or off my nut..... Brilliant, brilliant gig though.
I am stunned. I just heard this track on the radio. Then I noticed this vid and decided to watch. I fully expected them to be dreadful live - just like many an over-produced band from the Stink, Aching and Waterworks era. They could really cut it live. Not just play instruments (ever tried that, Robbie Williams or Rihanna??), but the vocals were spot on, and that was long before auto-tune.
Thanks for uploading. It's good to be pleasantly surprised.
Who, s the stink?
@@geordiewindsor4278 stock aitken and waterman, pretty much destroyed the British music scene in the late 80's early 90's, all song sounded the same, just different people singing them.
@@lvthud I'm not sure what people were more sick of by 1990; SAW or Thatcher!
This is superb. I liked the single
also. Must check out more!
SAW were the best and defined a go getting era with upbeat poppy nonsense lyrics songs. Much better than those dreary depressing artists like Weller.
Always loved this song and DEFINITELY love the live - and extended - versions, too! Great band back in the day!!
Had the pleasure of seen them live twice.
Played with IT BITES guys at Half Moon London, they were great, the band left their lyrics in pub, Pete Reilly found out where the girls lived and returned. Love this track. 🎸
Saw them barrowlands glasgow absolutely one of the best live bands ever seen
Jeez, as far as 1 hit wonders go, this is up there with the best of them, i love this chorus, & this song.
You guys bring back so many wonderful memories of summer 86' when the tall ships came to Newcastle 1st time. I had a flat over looking the Tyne bridge . And every time it came on the radio I looked out of the window at those ships. Wow guys what an impact on my life.
Amazing dunnery! Great band!!!
Wow, they're super brilliant!
Fantastic live band
I've watched a couple of these clips from Tokyo, and Dunnery's voice is right on in all of them!
IT BITES is a great band ! i love it
Best live band I've ever seen in person loved em much missed
Why in gods name did they not make it big? Their so talented live
Class act with superb material and exceptional musicianship throughout the band. Knew from the first few bars of this song when I saw/heard them way back on top of the pops......eeeeyukkkkk!!!.....that they were special and too good to be on that pantomime. Frankie's solo albums are special too so check them out.
Fantastic band!!
What a tune
Just GREAT...........GREAT song too !
This is a REAL band excellent 👍👍
Saw them in Newport back in the day. Immensely talented and sooo pretty.
These guys can play!!
3.42 in wow Francis looove your riffs xxx
Powerfully amazing song/**love it** performance fab🤟🙌👌🎼
Just got into this band, reaaaaalllly good!!
Great prog band. As muscians untouchable
Blimey how good!
That sounds fantastic ~ I hope I helped a little when they started with my agency Andy Park Promotions back in the good old days
Andy Park... recently read yr books. Brilliant read.
Crank up that bass.......even more 😎
Now that's how you do a finale!
1 st time iv seen this , and makes me think what a fuckin brilliant band they were
Top band ... They were fantastic live in the Marquee The T&C Kentish Town back in the 80's ..... burnt brightly like a comet then crashed .... but reformed without Frank ..... They were just so f**king good and enthusiastic with it... musos with incredible playing
They reformed with him for 3yrs then mashed up again, then reunited withou him.
Fanbloodytastic, thanks for posting. 😀
Fantastic band! Back when music was good!
I have always loved this band. From the first album onwards. Such a shame they didn’t get more successful. They were too musically good, so just fell into the cult category. I still listen to their albums now. Classic, cool band.
I discovered It Bites back in 1989 after seeing a documentary on the A&E channel about the process of recording in a studio. The band was It Bites and I later found their albums in the cut-out bin of a local store. I grabbed them all and fell in love the bands big hooks, great melodies and strong musicianship. Great to see them on youtube.
I discovered them because they’re my dads favourite band, so I grew up listening to them and I’m still in love with their music :)
They hv a lot of "Yes" in them
GOOD BAND none the less
And a good dollop of "Genesis". The track "Once Around The World" in particular has sections very reminiscent of Gabriel's "posh chap" vocal as used in e.g. "Battle of Epping Forest".
Great tune
They would be big today if they reappeared!
thanks for this video very good band very talented.hope they get wider exposure! map47
すげー!カッコいい!
すげー!演奏力&歌力!
Oh wow..... really good LIVE !!!
everything "fits" instruments, vocals to bad we didn't realy hear from them again !
Fookin brill !.
4:53 What a crazy Beck's solo
great song
Also, this footage undermines the common wisdom that Kurt Cobain only arrived on the scene in the 90s lol...kidding, even when Francis' mop is in his face the doppleganger effect is killed when you notice how high his guitar is strapped on....oh and the fact that he can play the HELL out of the guitar! :)
I'm just discovering Francis Dunnery and kind of working my way backward through his catalog. This is a cool song! Only thing I'm not so hot on is the keyboard sounds. That's really the only thing that totally dates it to the 80s. Is this concert on dvd?
All nicely executed on a Squier strat😎
The best rock band I have ever seen live. I was very disappointed when they split up.
Reformed and split about a billion times since
@@Hulk2k6 The original It Bites with FD were so good.
i used to live next door to the drummer :|
That is pretty cool.
Awesome saw them in preston
Me too brilliant band live
Bass is Beast 😎🤘
東京で見ることができたんだね…あとやっぱりフランシスダナリーが好きだ
Went to see marillion live at Edinburgh playhouse, these guys were support act. pleasantly surprised.
Great band. Talented and rocking.
Should have had much more success!
このライブ行きたかったなー(T-T)
フランシスダナリーめちゃくちゃかっこよかったなぁ(≧∀≦)
I always thought francis looked like brian setzer !
Kurt kobain here
Well, maybe in 1986 before growing the hair out.
I often wondered what Kurt Cobain did before he joined Nirvana. 😊
I do this on karaoke, crowd seems to like it :)
The writing was on the wall when Frank's guitar was louder than the rest of the band.
4:26... I think this is where Frank's Irish roots come through...
Always a knockout
WOOT they re recording this for the flood fund , go on my son
.... and I wish I had hair like these guys 😪
Sadly Frank (The singer) goes for the more "cue ball" style these days. Still utterly amazing live and he's touring as It Bites this weekend.
That was even but than the studio version 👍
Egremonts finest!
I can hear mike oldfield and yes influences
This is where Kurt Cobain got his look from.
I thought this was kurt cobain
DJU Clinic Cobain has approximately one thousandth of the talent of Francis Dunnery.
Culpano thats a bit of a silly statement in fairness
lidder1973 sorry it’s dead on. 50 million smokers can be wrong. Billion new kids on the block fans were wrong and so are you.
FRANCIS DUNNERY can effing play Allan Holdsworth legato type runs while singing. And he can pick as well.
Cobain was an expert at breaking his equipment, effing retarded big girls, power chords, doing heroin, and shooting his own brain with a 20 gauge shotgun.
I did, until I noticed he could play
Frank just grew his hair out in the three years between the single's release and this performance.
is ur guitar loud enough frank
Haha, yeah must have pissed off the other band members like shit
@@BarriosGroupie That's probably lead to the first breakup!
Kurt kobain??
Guitar's a bit loud there Frank
Amazing talent....they should have gone full on Prog, Being all 'cute' doesnt work for the girl market, girls dont buy music
They went too ROCK, would have been bigger if they'd doen a Go West!... GREAT TRACK this though!
I spit on those muso wankers who dissed It Bites. These guys were all about good music and great playing and this live version sums it up.
Francis has said that he loved the real muso stuff from the 1970s and 80s, and tried to fuse that with a Pop approach; I would say he succeeded because there is plenty of high class musicanship and writing, coupled with some memorable hooks etc.
Kurt Cobain that is
Scunthorpe anyone
his shirts looks like Pat Metheney
kurt cobain? NO WAY! i can not understand what you say. F better than C exactly
Absolutely travesty that these guys didn't go on to a long and successful career. Just the wrong era for this kind of music.
I can't listen to the studio version any more - the middle section is SHIT compared to the live variation!
kurt cobain.
They were good - they were never cool.
it bites these guys were brilliant musicians but never but never really did anything and now dunery must only be scraping a living sad
Drummer gets no attention lol wtf...
Guitar was way to loud, Whoever mixed it did a shit job.
