The story of the first generation Porsche Cayenne is not very well known. This vehicle is without a doubt one of the biggest unsung heroes in modern auto history. Porsche did not know what to offer when developing the Cayenne, so the offered the best of everything. This in turn spawned in entirely new class of vehicle in itself, the Premium High-Performance 'Off-Road' Luxury SUV. Notice the emphasis on the "Off-Road" part; that's because unlike modern luxury SUVs, the 955/957 Porsche Cayenne was actually built for off-road performance, endurance and durability.., so much so that it absolutely dominated Rally.
