"is it cats fighting??"
"no, no, it's just mike patton."
i mean, yeah, pretty accurate. 😂
I never thought I would ever hear a human capable of emulating the sound of fax machine signal.
Fun fact: Mike Patton supplied the voices/vocal effects for the zombies in the Will Smith movie "I Am Legend".
That's not a joke either.
He's also done "sounds" for multiple video games......
He also did the soundtrack for Jason statham's movie Crank 2 high voltage. All the music in that movie is his. It's awesome!
And voices of several infected in Left 4 Dead 2.
Also the voice of The Darkness in the video game
He was in a movie too, he played 2 characters in it.
6 octaves. Not many that can boast that. Absolutely legendary and in my mind, cemented as one of the greatest singers that has ever lived.
6x2 maybe. But it’s actually estimated somewhere between 8 and 10. Just a fucking beast…
This STILL hardly showcases the ranges of technical singing he can do.... This is AGAIN just one aspect of what he can does.... MONDO CANE is what you need to feature with a full orchestra backing him!
Like "deep deep down" by Mondo Cane or something along that spectrum?
@@tmartin5644 That be the obvious choice but I think other songs on that set list might showcase more vocal abilities possibly 🤔I think We are not Alone live performance on the Henry Rollins show with Peeping Toms would be awesome as well!
It blows my mind that so many of these vocal coaches doing reaction videos on RUclips, rarely know who Mike Patton is. He is basically a vocal god with his octave range and vocal abilities. He is certainly the voice of my generation!
Mike Patton is one of a kind. He can do these kinds of mental noises that no one else would even attempt, but he's also one of the best down to earth singers you will ever hear. His voice is just incredible.
Those wild noises are actually pretty controlled and repeatable for him. If you look up the Moonchild Trio 'song' Litany IV live, with variations as Moonchild Solo, you will see him perform a 9ish minute vocal solo along those lines, with sheet music he is referring to the whole way through. It is pretty consistent between the recorded versions and the various live recordings. Astonishing stuff.
This vocal range and this creativity in one single organism. It is not fair at all... :)
I really haven't heard anyone except for Mike Patton that can reach these extreme highs and at the same time has such solid low notes, can put Dimash here as well but just haven't heard such screams from him.
He moved to Italy, so he could sing in Italian more...music is the most important thing in his life.
no he moved there because his wife was italian lmao
I'm glad you are checking out more Mike Patton. You said some of his sounds are terrifying - well he did some voice acting for the monsters in several games and in a movie (I am legend and The Darkness eg). I hope you'll check out another compilation, that covers his whole range, not just the high notes.
Greetings from Germany
12:49 Glad you had the chance to experience Patton and his vocal range, which doesn't even do him justice as far as just how far his range can go, high notes, but he also can go lower than most can. He had no vocal coach, just fell into it by covering for a friend who was sick for the bands show, so he filled in. He never considered himself a singer, believe it or not, but my God he's the best there is!!!
He's really not the best singer. He is without a doubt the best vocalist to exist however. His singing is fantastic, don't get me wrong, but he doesn't come close to the best singers. He's not a singer in the traditional sense though. He's a vocal artist.
@@j800r_aswell I suppose you think Lionel Ritchie is the best?
Patton is one of those artists who doesn't create according to established rules. Like a painter who decides to use ketchup on concrete instead of paint on canvas, if it serves the purpose and achieves what he wants he'll do it. He screams, he sings opera, he sings in different languages, he sings or screams through a megaphone, he shoves the mic in his mouth, he uses a kids electronic toy... doesn't matter what it is, if there's something he feels he needs to do to express something a certain way he'll find that method and do it.
No surprise he's now a movie score composer.
There's a few songs from Faith No More that I particularly enjoy his vocal performances on.
Caffeine
Zombie Eaters
Smaller and Smaller
And they do a great rendition of "War Pigs" from Black Sabbath.
Mike has been taught by John Zorn and his Saxaphone.
What you are hearing is classical instrument mimic pitch.
I think you'd enjoy Mr. Bungle's California album.
Mike also does the screams of the "living dead" on the movie, I Am Legend.
Sooo … it’s not actually a skinwalker in the woods behind my house, daring me to find it. It’s just Mike Patton getting in some practice. 😂❤️🤘
"Is that cats fighting?.... No, it's just Mike Patton" LOL 7:03
OMG, what an incredible voice❣
Not sure if it was a Grammy or an MTV award he'd received? . But when the camera panned to him after his name was announced he looked almost bored too tears as he meandered to the stage then said "All hail the golden dildo", holding his award aloft. Then exited the stage. 😂
Patton is a Mad Scientist of Voice
What I like about Mike is that he is genetically gifted with his effortless range and he will try anything; he’s about what can be achieved. An artist.
Oh he shows off… without trying. So, let’s not split hairs. lol.
I don't know that anyone has been in more bands/projects than Mike Patton ha. I'm not entirely convinced he's human at times. He must have been messing about one day & went like hey that's cool I can do that 😂
I feel you would love Mondo Cane , ( italian songs with orchestra) , maybe you can start with Deep Deep down , but if you want to see crazy go for Urlo Negro ♡
If you would like to experience yet another side of Mike Patton, he recorded and performed a collection of classic Italian songs, called "Mondo Cane". This is a live performance of one called "Storia d'amore" I feel confident you'll truly enjoy. ruclips.net/video/HmgO1H6fkG4/видео.html
He kind of rewrote the book the book on modern vocal...possibilities. He has an album from earlier in his career called Adult Themes for Voice that is just a collection of sounds he can make. It's not enjoyable to listen to but if I was a vocalist I think it would be my bible.
A lot of the end stuff was from a title called Moonchild. It's just hime using his voice to perform. He also has it written down in notation.
It's sounds like the screams from hell goosebumps 🥶
Mike Patton can scream like a maniac and then sing like a baby in he next heartbeat
besides of all this crazy shit he is doing he had a very nice collaboration with björk on her "medulla"-album. not so easy accessible, but it contains some true gems of her music. favourit pieces of the album: who is it and vökuró
Thanks for making me aware of that!
Mike patton te Best vocalist of te time
"he´s a vocal savage."
yes.
Some of it's a bit otherworldly and seems inspired in the moment. He is a great straight vocalist but it seems he gets bored with it. He does have a very strong faithful following that goes back decades.
The operatic bit you heard near the beginning was likely Mondo Cane, which is a project he put together with a 100 piece orchestra. But he’s done avant-garde opera as well with John Zorn’s Astronome. But yeah, as you noticed probably 2 examples later, there’s nothing between avant-garde death metal and Burt Bacharach (not a random example) he hasn’t done. He’s worked with everyone from Dillinger Escape Plan to Nora Jones. The only thing I’m actually surprised by is that to the best of my knowledge he’s never done anything with Diamanda Galas, who has his range beat by like half an octave.
Hey weirdo, could you please give me a source, if possible? Because the revised article with the ranking of largest vocal ranges (2014?) had to remove Axl Rose from #1 -> Mike Patton became #1. I believe the incredible Diamanda Galas was ranked a bit lower. Is there a more recent reliable article published with a new ranking? Thank you.
I think that operatic stuff at the beginning was from the soundtrack to a short indie film that Patton did the soundtrack for. I can't bring the name to mind right now. It's not from Mondo Cane.
“Is that a pterodactyl or a humpback whale?” “No, it’s Mike Patton.”
I lol’d
He supposedly has a 5 octave range according to some study/ measurement
Filmed at 15fps?
Ken, to be honest, I wake up every night because I seem to hear some singer like Camila Cabello or Ed Sheeran outside my window and I think that's a much worse scenario...
I've never been a fan of Faith no More but I respect Mike.
👍👍
you should listen to Demetrio Stratos, solo and with Area
Mondo Cane is SO BADASS
I swear to Satan OttoPhil......
A Roland 808 or something he uses for effects
Sorry Korg AP-2 sorry mixing my musicians 😆😊
You need to react to Golden Hour cover by Voiceplay
MP does it.
He has a six octive range
Hey Ken if you have a friend doctor would be great to the show see both of you comment extreme singers like Patton from your perspective as a coach and singer and from what happens to the body. Uh! that would be interensting. Greetings from Chile!!
react to the video "vocal range of Mike Patton"
Pranzo Oltranzista = get involved 😉🤗✅
He is the 😈 himself
If someone wants to be able to sing like Mike Patton, the best advice I would give is buy the best quality microphone, then return it, buy a shovel to dig a ditch to lie in
Ken I cant watch your videos as they as so choppy all of a sudden.
I like your reaction but one thing that is your editing is just like ... I don't know what to say but is not well😁
He is commercially successful...faith no more.
That's pretty neat... I don't need to watch the whole thing.
Mike Patton is without doubt the greatest vocalist alive today. What he can do with his vocals is just phenomenal. He's not known as the man of a thousand voices for nothing. The are many great vocalists and then there's Mike Patton.
More Mike Patton reactions!!!
Do some Mr Bungle or Mondo Cane!!!
Mike Patton is THE vocal God. Whilst he's more widely known for FNM, he's involved/was involved in numerous other projects that has given him the chance to play around with his vocal abilities and really showcase what he can do. It's mind-blowing to me. The power and control he holds is unbelievable. I've been lucky enough to meet him and he's a great guy.
What is going on with your videos lately? There’s a lag and jumpiness to them. Something is wrong in the editing/uploading process. It’s almost nauseating jumping.
Mike P aka Mr. B Is incredible at Polyphonic singing, among SO much more! These short snippets Don't touch his capabilities.
When he was much more serious in the beginning, he showcased his voice And it's incredible!
Mr. Bungle Mr. Bungle. You must listen
Finally...welcome to the Patton universe
he's a legend, one of a kind, absolutely influential generational musician.
"Vocal acrobatics" is accurate I would say. Many of his side projects are just avenues for him to incorporate those acrobatics into the music he creates with others.
yes, back to mike patton! he is so crazy.
how about some susanne sundfor for your pue enjoyment? there is "when the lord" to mention. even if its not a soft one. or "the brothel" live at cigalle, "undercover" live or "sound of war" live from barbican.
some more high notes? then more eivor please!
"wake me up" live is a stunner, as well as "boxes" live 2012
or slor london solo sessions!
He voiced the zombies from the movie “I am legend” with will smith
You NEED to do a whole song with Mike, not just short clips.
I suggest either Faith No More - Cuckoo For Caca (Optimus Alive, Lisbon, 07/08/10) or Tomahawk - God Hates A Coward (live)
Would love it you did both tho.
Mike Patton did the zombie sounds for the movie i am legend.
When Ken said "this is terrifying" I came here to point this out.
Patton is amazing...you should check out Kyo from Dir En Grey...he also does a lot of vocal gymnastics in songs and is often compared to Mike Patton
"Giving the middle finger to everything that's so-called vocal coaches"... You got that right.
Imagine you have a band
It has a bassist, an electrical guitar, drums and a violin
For example
The amount of sounds that those instruments can produce are very numerous.
There are all kinds of effects and drum skins and factories that manufacture all kinds of musical instruments
And then you have singers
You can practice an instrument for years on years
And you can play with other musicians for years on end
And it is very clear that that's what Mike has done since he was a teenager
Practice his pipes
And in my opinion has never been the most important member of a certain project
He's never been the lead Singer
The lead man
He has always been another member
Another instrument
This file you found with Mike Patton's high notes doesn't do him justice
It's fun I get it
But its taking him out of context
His projects
His songs
Should be taken from start to finish
And the rabbit hole of Mike Patton is extremhly deep
I have listened to him since I was 15 and I don't known it all by a long shot. I'm 39
Listen to some faith no more. Come on, you must have heard "Easy"
You mentioned the middle finger. That's pretty much how you sum him up when it comes to most things institutional.
Barely scratching the surface
wow I'm a huge fan and never heard some of these parts, his work is amazing and extensive.
He has a fantastic range of sounds and notes and probably would be best to react to a couple of songs in full, also because Faith No More music is pretty nice, besides Mike's vocals. The compilations videos are fun but they don't really tell much of story and screams in isolation are just... well, screams, even if nicely done.
still cant wrap my head around the fact that he is self taught
Probably need to hear not just compilations but actually some songs.
Hi. Can u react to Siti Nurhaliza - Seindah biasa (Mtv 2005) ?
"Is it cats fighting? No it's just Mike Patton" haha
