The first time Faith no More came to Brazil I was 12. I wanted so much to go to the show but I was too young for that. I love FNM, and for me MIke is a Mith. I became a wife, a mom and professional and life made me forguet of those things. But my teaneger daughter made me remember and I came to search what Mike is doing nowadays. The best thing I could do, I am very glad to see he is better then ever.
This is one of the reasons why I cannot help but to adore Patton. Unlike a good portion of rock men, he didn’t abuse his fame and power to get his way. He just fucking loves music.
This was so educational. Amazing to listen to these metal dudes have a beautiful cultured conversation. The more you travel, the more interesting you become. Step outside of your world.
I could listen to Mike forever, bless him being kicked out of the kitchen though hahaha imagine kicking Mike out of any where lol This is a great conversation. Thanks for sharing.
@@Bablobiggins Haha Definitely! Nowadays I feel my tag line for Mike - "I'm so sorry you can't take him any where" is less likely needed... not 100% just less. He'd be a massive delight going crazy over his food. The yrs of imagining him in various 'normal' scenarios but not reaching any 'normal' outcome actually now might just be possible and soo fun...but that part was never in question regardless :)
I've experienced Patton's passion for food before performing. Many years ago before a Peeping Tom gig in Liverpool, UK. We were walking close to the venue a couple of hours before showtime. Patton walks up. We got talking. And he asked where any quality restaurants were. So we sent him to an authentic Spanish family run tapas place. Brilliant place. I just hope he found it. Oh, and he turned up on time to play the gig.
Really enjoyed this. I've watched a thousand interviews about his eccentric musical interests and range, it's cool to hear something different about my favorite musician.
Mr Bungle on a hot busy shift in the kitchen kept my friend and me's head on sideways long enough for it to not fall off.... Thank's Mike for the chaos which put our heads in to order! Great conversation. I'm really hungry now...
this was so lovely :) its been such a blessing to watch the evolution of Mike Patton over the years. And as Brit Ive just learned about so many restaurants ive never heard of and now must visit!
I visit and refer back to this video/conversation from time to time, my compliments on making this more than entertaining, but also valuable. More than once have I referred to or shared this conversation with a musician or artist (and others... ) I associate and/or partner with. And I always will have it on my list as a resource or example. I like to be able to have such a thing, no matter how invisible the value of simple conversation is in something, I save it. And it always comes in handy one day. Some are straight off valuable and those become permanent resource list fixtures. This is one of those things that from day one, shared its value. Thank you for what you do. Everyone involved, too. Money clothes the body of a not for profit. But things like this are the soul, the teachers and the uniting elements. Money cannot buy that. And an idea must persist and burn, in a slightly tortuous way... If it isn't covered and dies, its tragic. It is one less musician saved from stress induced death, One less music industry person with integrity because without knowledge, that one is just a business person, unaware of the imbalance. And so on. That said, I appreciated this and many will throughout time. 😍🤮
OMG, I'm a Chef and would love to cook for Mike Patton. Only celeb I think I've cooked for was Rodney Rude lol, oh and Screaming Jets, they played at the dive I was working at :). Mike will never read this, but, just in case.. I'm in Australia. I would happily be personal chef when you tour Australia, hopefully next year! FOR FREE!! Also agree on the Slayer thing. I saw them when I was 16. Can't actually believe I was allowed to go! Everyone should have 'attend Slayer concert' on the bucket list! Peace!
Mike should have his on show on Kitchen TV. Scouting restaurants, revisiting his favorite places and meals, or cooking his favorite meals. But that would maybe be hard to do because he wouldn't want to spend his time away from music.
Great watch. It is making me miss London haha. There is Korean spot- a downstairs fancy restaurant near one of the tube stops near central that I always love.....cannot remember the name. I really love the Fullers Pubs in Chiswick like the Old Packhorse etc. Nothing like Cask ale. So true the correlation between music and food. Same for me on the road I live for those solo adventures finding those magic spots. ....I will take a magic food discovery over a groupie or getting wasted any day of the week......age and wisdom ha ha ...It is funny I am from Norcal as well and one day in my home town of Santa Rosa I ran into Trey from Bungle at Taqueria Santa Rosa and we ate mex food and talked for like 2 hours. He is super cool as well. Mr B shows in the early 90s were good times \m/

Hhhmmm id maybe say Kubrick or Richard Linklater becuase they made so many movies totally different in style. But on the other hand hell yes becuase alot of Mike's music explores and deals with violence and he does everything with STYLE

I you ever come to Mexico 🇲🇽, please explore Baja California. I live in Ensenada and my stepfather owns a restaurant, Boules. Specializes in seafood and combines French and Mexican cuisine. His brother owns a place Muelle 3 on the Ensenada boardwalk. There’s many traditional places here and in the wine valley
About the similarities between music and eating: they’re both ultimately sensuous activities aside from artistic. While watching the documentary on Anthony Bourdain, I pointed out how being a chef was like being a musician, you work towards achieving pleasure, for someone else’s and why not, for oneself. Doing something to hopefully pleasure others. Bourdain was like a rockstar, so associations came easily. As someone who hasn’t really fostered any artistic skill, I always wonder how great it would be to make a living through such rightfully glorified indulgence.
This was such an entertaining conversation! I mean, it was mainly focused on food, but I'm Italian so I was really happy about the topic :,) I think it would be entertaining to see Mike cooking italian stuff XD By the way, that cold pasta that was mentioning Mike we would call it "pasta fredda", but the recipe is not traditional because the worchester sauce is an ingredient that I've never seen in Italian recipes, it sounded tasty though, I would happily try it, honestly!
There was a 2006 interview where he said he's been married for 14 years, and in 2016 he brought up his wife again. I don't think they ever officially separated.

I should have known Patton loved food ever since THAT sandwich interview.
I have just watched an interview of Mike Patton talking about food for almost an entire hour and it's one of the greatest interviews I've ever seen.
I was just about to comment the exact same thing!
I never thought I'd be perfectly entertained listening to Mike Patton talk about food for an hour.
Patton needs to stop apologizing for his iconic music and accept his crown as King Legend.

MP has had this thing about groupies since Day 1. But then again, he's being kicked out of the kitchen by his own wife. It's all...complicated.

I find that even the early MP's interviews (like the legendary one with Spin) were quite interesting even before all that travelling.
I'm so intrigued by that man 🔥🔥🔥
