Why we will still telling artist to rely on streaming services in 2024? The main game is direct sales ya get your money all around but streaming should not be the main focus.
Because focusing on direct sales is not smart. It’s literally like selling sand at the beach. How much music have you bought this year? I know I haven’t bought anything in years & everyone I know that has bought music only bought it to support a friend or relative. They don’t even listen to it. Streaming is promotion that pays royalties. Nobody said only do streaming, but it is a springboard into other things because it drives awareness, engagement, and retention.
Saw Beatz in your name so I’m guessing you’re a producer. Different rules for you. There’s demand for the product, people need beats to sing & rap over. No music listener needs a song.
Yup, & for most of those people it’s a form of charity. They’re buying vinyl albums with no record players, cassette tapes with no cassette players. I have a friend that was selling cassettes, fan reached out after buying one asking “what do I do with this?”

Ain't nobody buying music. According to the data, about 5% of a person's fan base will buy their music.
