There's a lot of guys into the hobby but this guy is the goat of slot car racing . He takes it to the next level. Very humble and sweet guy 2.Race on 😊
Thank you so much for the kind words
Brilliant, as a modeller myself since childhood (now 53) and a guy who's just getting back into slot cars as an adult cos let's face it good music, a couple of cold ones and some racing is a great fun evening I found this fantastic and inspiring and I love his dedication and passion for his hobby 👍
Truth! =]
This guy is a legend in the slot car world . His attention to detail and creativity is off the rails. Truly inspiring to all hobbyist. Thanks for your great content.
Thank you
At 55 year's old, watching this takes me back to being 10 years old playing with my cars. This made me feel exactly like I did when I was 10, not a care in the world, everything was safe, and mom and dad were in the front room watching what ever 1970's show that was on at the time while I lost myself in my world of toy cars. . I had ice cream buckets of hot-wheels ( mainly redlines ) but finally around 12 I got a slot car set and everything change in a heart beat. Life eventually got in the way as I got older and my toys of the past were just that... the past .
Well a couple months back I was lucky enough to find a guy who sold me a "HUGE" amount of 60's-70's slots cars for $600.. I'm certain they're worth a few grand but money isn't what matters when it comes to my toys. Ya see I'm a seriously collector ( although an amateur ) and have about 500 70's hot-wheels, lesney, Corgi, and the rest and now I've got about 40 slots cars and parts as far as the eye can see. Sure I could use the money by selling them but it's the one thing in my life that makes me feel like the kid I once was so I will "NEVER" get rid of them.
thanks for this awesome video, your track just makes me wanna build a time machine and got back to the early 70's. AWESOME TRACK TO SAY THE LEAST🏎
Wow! This brings back memories of my misspent youth! Haha. I grew up in rural Vt int he 50s/60s and remember slot cars being the rage for us 10to 14 year olds. I would hitch hike 20 or so miles if I couldn't con anyone to give men a ride to the closest large town that had a track. It was 1/24 scale at that time but I guess 1/32 became more popular later on. I wound my own motors for torque and top-end. Fun times. Jimmie Attard must be fro Detroit if he worked at Fords. I was born there in 1951 and had tons of relatives there. A lot of them "went by Fords" and had long careers. Thanks for posting> Love it!
Thank you for watching
Wow absolutely a treasure. Jimmy Attard you’re my new hero. Keep building sir.
Thank you for the very kind words
This is absolutely stunning..! The level of detailing, the layout, the weathering…. It really has the “right” atmosphere. This is not hobby work - it’s art..!
Thankyou Boje for the nice words
I just found your channel and must say your attention to detail is second to none. You enjoy sharing your “secrets” and assist others in their ventures with valuable advice ….a trait of a generous, down to earth , passionate and kind person I will continue enjoy watching the numerous recordings on this channel, keep up the great work all the best from Australia 🇦🇺 👋
I wish more young kids did hobbies like this these days. My kids are into RC planes and I think working with your hands and creating something is good for their character. I wish we could live near you to share your passion. I and my boys would love it! Cars and model machines building are good for character development. Simply amazing, a tribute to your skill, dedication, and character!! 👏🏼👏🏼
Very very much sir...creating with your hands is something that young people today are at a loss to do...it not only builds character and confidence, but to see that you don't need a computer to do it all is important. If you think you can't than it must be true.
@@jimmyattard1446 Yes sir. No computer simulation can give the amount of satisfaction and more importantly the feeling of accomplishment when you actually create something by hand that is physically yours. It truly makes it feel like it’s one of a kind yours. Haha, now my boys want us to build a slot car track to replace their train track. I also take my boys and track car (I have a 2019 GT350 now) to the local road race track for track days. We love cars! So many hobbies and not enough time!
I wish this guy was my dad. Most coolest, greatest, Awesome ever. So Inspiring to see we can do anything! All we need to do is put our hearts into it! Keep Creating and believing. This man is artist!!!110%
Thanks so much for your nice words Mike
@@jimmyattard1446 Mr Attard. I am better for having seen this and your nephews previous video about your slot car track. What a wonderful labor of love for cars and a joy for sharing your passion! I’m a car guy and love Ford’s (as you can see from my GT350) and I’m glad you worked for Ford. You should be proud of the hard work and joy you put into the track and hobby!!
I haven't raced a slot car since I was a kid in the late 60's & early '70s. Loved the interview!
Me too, at the time, I used race the american amasing COX´s slot racers, GT 40, Lotus 40, Cheetah 1:24 scale, and one excelent F1 BRM P61 1:32 scale, for me, one of the most beautifuls F1 car ever. I´m 68 years old and late 60´s and early 70´s were one hell of youth years!
@@mariapires7170 Try it again! The new cars can come right out of the box and be fast and fun, we don't have to build our own cars anymore.............altho modifications happen alot...........youtube has lots of slotcar content mostly older guys .
If this man painted on canvas...he would be a DaVinci. Hats off to your sir. 40 years of dedication and mastery has me in awe
I love the resilience of this guy. So cool that he has a use for everything. I'm getting better at it in my model and slot car hobbies. Been doing it for over 50 years and it never gets old and I NEVER stop learning!
This documentary is simply amazing. To hear the passion of Mr. Attard as he talks about his life's work is fascinating. Too bad this is as close as most of us will get to experiencing Jimmy's world in miniature. Perhaps this will inspire others to create their own.
Im 2 months into track building and racing 1/32 slot cars........something called me to it and I went............the new slot cars are nothing what so ever like the olden days. Digital is a big deal now especially for home tracks.............guys that come over and try it tend to go buy a car of their own.
I am so happy to see there are more Jimmy videos! You do an excellent job of capturing his passion, and know exactly what to ask him about. Thanks for making these!
Great Bart. Thanks for the kind words my friend! Thank you for following Lunch King. Please forward our work to your friends and family!
Thank you Mr. Attard for sharing your time and your beautiful track with the rest of us!!
Thank you to everyone who has responded so kindly. 2264ish thanks for the kind words too! Please subscribe to the Lunch King site to see more about the track my friends!
Derek and Ryan I can’t thank you enough for capturing my cousin Jimmy’s unbelievable work! I visited his home about 3 years ago and was totally floored by his creation. A wonderful man from a wonderful family!! Can’t wait to see more!!!
Hey Joe, great to have you over any time cuz! Thanks for the kind words!
Hi Joe! Thank you again for your great words and support. It's been a pleasure working with Jimmy. We're going to have more great content to show you guys soon!
This is just brilliant , the man hours that have gone into this must be in the tens of thousands. The detail ! Hats off to this guy , superb.
Thankyou much Ryan! And, I'm glad you made note of the manhours evolved...but very minute was fun... Ryan, forward this to your friends because the guys said they will be doing more video of the track soon. Thanks again for the nice comments my friend.
I just watched the February post co-hosted by Ryan
and now this extended cut co-hosted by Gus.
Mike Dormann said it BEST, " This man is artist!!!110%"
I'll even elaborate it further, he's a slot track GURU!
I LOVE the Attention to detail in the scenery more so
than the construction and build of the track.
As a Newbie to the " Sport " I'm new school formed
plastic track owner. The scenery has more of my interest
but, not to take away from the engineering design of the
tracks build! I mean 35years in this hobby, Mr. Attard
Is AWESOME and . . . . I too Loved the interview!
Thanks for the nice words Django. Yes the guys got the best out of me. Hope we can keep bringing you more good stuff my friend.
This absolutely made my day as a kid my passion was the AFX cars and N scale trains. I made my race track more like a detailed train layout.
To find this video and the passion this shows for a wonderful hobby is so incredibly cool. THANKS!
Thanks Mike! With n scale and AFX scale you sure can get a lot more of a bigger layout in the same space. I already had my 1/32 cars so that's what I went with on my layout. Mike forward this to your friends because the guys said they will be doing more video of the track soon. Thanks again for the nice comment my friend.
Absolutely incredible! The detailing is perfect, even the treads are worn in varying degrees on the tires used for walls and barriers, as you would expect but wouldn't think about until you see them in this magnificent display. It's a genius use of common material and the scale is spot on. The Cafe prices made me smile.
Thank you.
Hello Brian, You are the 1st to notice those snack bar prices! That was an inside joke but the scale is so small no one could read it. But with the camera work.... it's now exposed to all. Forward this to your friends because the guys said they will be doing more video of the track soon. Thanks again for the nice comments my friend.
@@jimmyattard1446 Thank you Jimmy. Your work is incredible!
The most amazing slot car track I have ever seen. This guy is an artist.
Thanks for the kind words Ruben
What a passion! Grew up with slot cars as a kid, and even raced Womp Womps and Whisper Jets at the local Slot Car track in our town. I find it wonderfull that this man's passion is as much about relationships between friends, as it is about building and racing slot cars! Thank you so much for sharing his story with us.
Words can not describe how awesome this is!
What a thrill to see all of this. In 1964/65, I was 14 or 15 years old, I worked at a slot car track selling track time and car kits and accessories. I also had a little side biz putting the slot car kits together for beginners or people who just wanted to race. I'd get them completely finished out and supertuned and ready to race. I got $5 per car which would make me $20 or $25 a week...pretty sweet money for those days.
What an incredible and innovative set up. Thank you for sharing. I just bought my first 1:32 slot car set. I will be giving it to my grandson this Christmas.
Hey thanks for the kind words ES! Please subscribe to the Lunch King site to see more about the track!
Thank you Jimmy for everything you have created and shared and being such a wonderful communicator and joy spreader! I wish you long life and good health and keep on living your dream, it's awesome. Looking forward to watching some race videos soon!!!
The way you handled the track contact with the car shoes was brilliant.
I love your smile brother and thanks for the nod to Wide World of Sports. If it wasn't for Wide World of Sports I wouldn't have seen those epic car races of the 70s.
Doctor, Thank you for your kind comments my friend. Please subscribe to my Nephews Lunch King channel and you will see racing videos here. Classic models going around the track door to door. Please forward to your friends and thanks again.
@@jimmyattard1446 Done and done and you are most welcome =]
What a great track. I'm sure lot of slot racers would like to see and run on this track.
Thank you for taking time to do the video and info.
This is exactly what i dreamed slot car racing was like or could be. This Mr Jimmy is a genius. ...
Thanks for this extended vid! I enjoyed the previous one that you posted a lot, this was more than a huge bonus. What an artist Mr. Attard is!
Yes, I agree. Thank you Mr. Attard for sharing this amazing track/work of art and for providing us with some information on how you did things and providing an explanation on how it works. However, I would have liked to see a "demonstration" on how the track works. Specifically on how you take a "slot" car and have it change lanes for blocking or passing. I find that aspect of your track very realistic and interesting and would have liked to see it in action. Great video. Loved it!
G89stang, thanks for your comment. The guys are planning more videos in the near future so go back and subscribe to LK and share with your friends. Thanks again friend!
What a great interview! His track is outstanding! The man definitely has the passion. Thanks for bringing us along
Thanks for the nice words Norm
From a Modelers stand point the execution is just remarkable and outstanding ! I'm friends with Joe Attard and would love to meet Jimmy and see the track !!
Absolutely Martin. Just dropped Joe at the airport. When he returns in a few weeks he wants to get a group of you guys together for an evening of racing.

This is a fantastic build. As a serious scale modeler myself, this is VERY inspiring work!
Utterly freaking fabulous!!! Thank you for sharing your magnificent creation, Mr. Attard! I am jealous, yes; but in the best way...respectfully envious of your diligence, dedication, and attention to detail. It must be a delight and thrill to get to race at Northline.

What a beautiful model and fun hobby.
Hello Again,
1st off thank you for each and every video of this track and the man!
The level of scenic detail is fantastic, with more and more eye candy at each location you let the camera rest!!!
I am dying to hear and see a full video class on the weathering aspect of charcoal coloring????
Please - Please - Please put one together. It is so realistic Jimmy take us to school.
Best regards and looking forward to more.

This Randomly Showed Up On My Recommended. WOW!! Wish I Was As Lucky As You Were To Have Something Like That As A Kid.
Excellent!
Great balance between precise scale modelling and sporty racing.
Very creative
Wow amazing
Your'e a great man jimmy! Absolutely stunning! The level of detail is just amazing. Being a fellow Maltese, born In Australia in the late 80s, my dad and I spent hrs at the local track racing. Nothing was ever this detailed, this is awesome, brings back great memories
WHAT AN AMAZING EXAMPLE of a TRUE MOTOR CITY MICHIGANDER. Absolutely beautiful and amazing WORKING work of Art. THE MEMORIES, STORIES and so much joy you have brought to others with so much passion and dedication. YOU SIR, are the definition of an AMAZING ROLE MODEL FOR MEN. I am so thankful I found this video. FORD, First On Race Day.
Thank you Devin...you made me blush! Forward this to your friends because the guys said they will be doing more video of the track soon. Thanks again for the nice comment my friend.
Excellent. What a nice guy and what an amazing story, thank you!
Jimmy is THE MAN. I've been admiring AC2 layouts for years and this is the guy responsible for it all... What a treat be invited into his home, hear from the man himself and see all of his detailing, imagination and craftsmanship first hand. And thanks for a great look at not just the man and his track but of his work stations as well. Nice touch, really loved it! I am compelled to make a comment about the video production.
Although the interview is wonderfully comprehensive and petty much perfect, the music running throughout the entire length of this video is not only unnecessary but after a while became distracting and then annoying. Jimmy's comments, his descriptions of building techniques and his stories are wonderful, interesting and stand completely on their own without the need of a constant, relentlessly repetitive barrage of 16th note xylophone "hey kids, it's play time with Jimmy" music behind it. I found that I needed to take periodic breaks because of it. Although this is a fun hobby for sure the interview is one of an experienced and dedicated artist and it doesn't need anything else to make it more "interesting".
That said.... Great job and many thanks for making this video, the passionate work of an artist and his living track, available to us! I loved slot cars as a kid in the 60s and began collecting cars again and building tracks as an adult during the past 20 years or so. Really appreciate it!
P.S. Sorry about the production critique. My 50 years as a musician and 30 in the MP and TV industry have obviously ruined me!
Ron - Pasadena, CA. by way of Rochester, NY
Hello Ron, I'd like to start by thanking you for all the nice words.... you made me blush man! I'm sure I can speak for Derick and say that your critiques come from the heart and are well appreciated. Everything was done off the cuff without rehearsing so Ryan's questions and Derricks editing made me sound better than I really am! Ron, forward this to your friends because the guys said they will be doing more video of the track soon. Thanks again for all the nice comments my friend.
That would make a great movie. The track comes to life when no one is around
im an airplane guy very passionate bout my hobby, even though slot cars are not my thing, the passion this guy has for his slot cars and the passion i have for flying and building planes we could be the greatest of friends on completely ends of the spectrum

Amazing
all i can say is this is really well done so cool
Absolutely gorgeous!
Beautiful - a work of art. And love.
This is really cool... imagine how many kids were kept from getting themselves into trouble because they had somewhere like this to do
great workmanship, something I've noticed, in the UK everyone had a slot car set at some time, we had VIP in the 1960s and later Scalextric, the USA also but as far as I know there hasn't been a dedicated TV show about slot cars, I see an opportunity here. . .
That's a good idea Sicks6six! Thank you for following Lunch King. Please forward our work to your friends and family!
Brilliant work & congrats. Love your track
AWESOME! I was an HO scale guy myself.
Incredible
Fantastic!
That's beautiful, especially the night time lighting!
The track you build is a work of art
On RUclips several years ago there was a story about in Italian who built scale models of Ferraris from paper scraps Your slot car track is definitely equal to those beautiful models for creativity Very very well done

This track and this man are wonderful! I grew up as a boy in the nineteen sixties going to a local slot car track in Woodland Hills, California. The track is long gone but I carry the memories with me always. I’d love to go visit this track and meet this man. Is that possible?

But on Saturday get up in the morning have a eggo waffle and race on the track till time to go to the real track. Hell I'm 54 and I'm going to go buy one tomorrow. Just to relive the time.

This is a model railroading style of prototype modeling. People really respond to the realism and attention to details. There are all kinds of landscaping materials in the train section of the hobby stores and online retailers. The nice thing about it is that your layout will never be done. That’s the whole idea behind a hobby like this.
You are right Doug! It will always be a work in progress. For me when the scale detail work is done, so is the fun. Thanks for your kind words my friend. Is there a way to show the cars running and how the lane switch works to allow passing?
Hi Todd. We are working on a new video that will highlight the actual racing of Jimmy's cars on his track as well as its operation. Please stayed tuned!
I have an idea. Now that we are in 2022 going on 2023, and the technology is really good these days. The owner should get tons of micro cameras and place them all around the track.
And on race days, do a live stream broadcast on Twitch and RUclips websites. Have someone do the controls for the live video feed while live streaming using a stream-deck
to control the view of each camera to the live stream as the races happen. Put up a monitor with a digital scoreboard for winners & mini trophies for the winners. 😁👍
The owner can also put a chip in the car and hire a Python developer to write a script, as each car will be given a specific code & number. And each time they pass the finish/start line
it would show up on the 40" inch screen on the wall as it also keeps score digitally, so no one can argue who cross the line first, as it would be electronically recorded.
Cars for a Hundred bucks! 🏁
Great video. Great track. Btw, you might want to pick up another microphone for the interviewer. The volume difference between Jimmy and the interviewer is pretty big.

There's no way this guy is from anywhere but Michigan. If it wasn't the Lions mug, saying "Ford's" with the possessive S would be a dead giveaway.
