John Bonham is arguably the greatest drummer ever. He was so good that when he died that was the end of Led Zeppelin. He couldn't be replaced.
Fun fact... lead singer Robert Plant and drummer John Bohnam were just barely 20 years old when they created this song.
No matter what song you choose it will be marvelous! This was the first song on their first album...imagine that!
Yeah, they did not invent blues-rock, but they perfected it. Starting right here with this song, they kicked off what would become the sound of the 1970s with the first of SEVEN stellar albums that still stand at the top of the heap.
WHY DO I ALWAYS SEE JULIE HERE WTH LOL
It blew my head off when I discovered this track last year, I am 53 and a huge music fan, what the hell happened I missed this??
Great show
Imagine this is the first song you hear from this new band 53 years ago. Side 1 track 1
They got on a path from which they can never escape. You get to the end, but you start again, over and over again, a thousand times, until the last day of your life... It never escapes. Congratulations.
WHIPPING POST...Allman Brothers for bluesy rock, with a Southern sound, considered one of the best rock songs ever made
Looking forward to your Zeppelin reaction.. You should try " No Quarter" and " The Rain Song" & " Babe I'm Gonna Leave you " next!! You will not be disappointed.. It is so wonderful to see you young people reacting to to classic rock. ! Zeppelin has always been my favorite band! Peace!!
This is the song Led Zep came out the gate with.
Iconic song
First song, First Album. 🔥First Album is 🔥 Congratulations…..Summertime! 🥳
Short and sweet. The very first song on their very first album!
Listening to them is a full body experience.
That drum intro was the worlds introduction to Led Zep. What a first impression for John Bonham.
Heck yeah. This song was my introduction to Zeppelin.
Another great bass part by john Paul Jones, too.
He’s a hidden gem. The sound of the drums I guarantee you’ve never heard anything like it. Plus the bass is insane as-is the rest
Yes THE GREATEST BAND OF ALL TIME I DIG THAT YOU YOUNG GUYS LOVE ZEPPELIN ROCK ON
Imagine throwing this album on for the first time... decades ago....
Yes, Summertime, and the living is easy . A song done bye Jannis Joplin ( as well as others) . She is the quintessential female rocker. Sooner or later you will get to her. Give yourselves a treat ,and make it sooner . In the meantime I am rocking with you guys on every thing. Let's have a great summer.
finally more Zeppelin! keep it comin boys
Welocme to the GOAT Rock band ever. The rabbit hole is wide & deep. Enjoy the journey!
Beautiful & Haunting At The Same Time,,
Led Zeppelin "No Quarter"
I was 15 when Zep's first album came out and I bought it with what little cash I had at the time, not sure what to expect. OMFG...and now nearly 55 years later I still am stunned at how absolutely great of a band they were. There have been 100's of great bands over the decades but as far as pure OMG music, Zep easily tops the list, IMO.
I’m glad you guys react and love Zeppelin like I did when I was 13 and as I got older! I’m almost a senior citizen and I still call Zeppelin my favorite band of all time! And yes, they were and still are geniuses!! RIP John Bonham!! Enjoy all and every song by them, they are all good!
Z & Z, you have me cracking up! This song introduced the US to LZ in 1969..by the time they played from one coast to the other... the word had traveled like wildfire, that this band is where the Beatles left off! Every album they put out brought the back catalog back in demand!
I request “What is and What Never Should Never Be”. Zeppelin is one of a kind
They all shine so bright on this track as per usual.
Congratulations on being done with school for a while! Those are some of the best days! Yes, Zep will constantly give you more and more of what you didn't even realize you needed until you hear it. I gave someone else a couple of dates to put their phenomenal talent into a little perspective; they had their first rehearsal in August, 1968. This is the first song off their first album which was released in the States in January, 1969. That means they had only been together for approximately *5 months* during which they recorded and released their first album. They were THAT GOOD!
Hey Guys! I would listen to some of your other, but time is dear. That’s why I only listen to L.Z. 70 years young, and still a giant fan!
When I see you guys loving some Jimmy Page, the whole band, it makes me so happy.
This song was recorded over 50 years ago. Listen again, to
Bonham's triplets and use of the kick tom. You ever seen his drum kit??!!!
Great reaction what a guitar solo huh, you guys should react to How Many More Times, In the Evening, No Quarter, Babe I'm Gonna Leave You and In my Time of Dying
I love these guys no stupid video... just great audio enjoyment.
Your open-mindedness and eagerness to explore music is fantastic! Kudos. May I suggest an awesome black blues harmonica player---Sonny Boy Williamson. His collaboration in 1965 with the British band The Yardbirds (with Jimmy Page, who would be so important in Led Zeppelin) is absolutely fantastic! Whoever influenced Robert Plant to play the harmonica, had to be as good as Sonny Boy Williamson! These musical influences and cross-pollination is what I love about all such music. Also, an 18 year old Eric Clapton played on this album, and I know he was definitely influenced by the blues! 😊
Jon Bonham was the greatest drummer of all time, shame he died so young but his son Jason is a drummer as well and was in the movie Rock Star with Mark Walberg years back as well lol.
In my time of dying....still....best rock blues song ever ❤️
The Mighty Zeppelin every song is good .do the Zepathon all albums in order It will blow your minds.
Imagine being one of the few who never heard of Led Zeppelin in 1969 and listening to this 1st track of the first Zep album.
This is the very first Zeppelin song.
I was only 11 when this came out so I never got to hear it. Led Zeppelin IV was just released when I first was smitten. When I bought my first ever Led Zeppelin cassette tape, it was Led Zeppelin I. It immediately became my favorite album.
I apologize to those 4 hitchhikers I picked up on Oahu when I was 18 with my Pioneer stereo in my rusted ‘66 Chevelle. I played this song just absolutely cranked. I just assumed they must love it as much as me. After I dropped them off I thought, “that was kinda loud”!
This was the very first Zeppelin song I heard in '69 , I was 17 yrs old and smitten
First time I ever heard bass drum triplets was when this album came out. The backstory I’ve heard was John Bonham got the inspiration from Vanilla Fudge drummer Carmine Apice. Congrats guys on finishing up for the summer. More Zep please. 🤘😎
track 1 side 1 album 1. WELCOME TO LED ZEPPELIN!!
First song, first album. Kind of like a Horse starting six lengths ahead in a race.
I notice you mostly react to Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Yes. They're my top 3 all time fave bands! That says a lot about great music powering its way through generations. Love you guys and enjoy the music trip you're on, just as I did and still do!
Congratulations on finishing school! I hope you spend some of your summer reacting to lots of Led Zeppelin!
They were taking and drinking pretty much everything and still created genius music.
The first introduction to the world 53 years ago and they are still riding. 😎🤘
Happy Summer break, guys! Yes, that is a LZ staple! The first song from the first album and BOOM! Led Zep is here to CONQUER!! John Bonham doing those sweet, flutter-foot triplets on the bass drum pedal! NICE! Classic!
This was The World's introduction to The Mighty LED ZEPPELIN!! BONZO with his Floor Base Triplets !! Jimmy's Blazing Guitar Solo! Roberts Voicals , And Jonsey's Bass! Keep it Going Young Lions! And Don't forget The Studio Versions of , " Babe I'm gonna Leave You"! And from their LP Physical Graffiti, In my Time Of Dying!! I Guarantee you Both Will be TRIPPING , & Jumping Out the Car!!😂 Can't Wait Guys!! Piece, & Love 💕✌️
Ah, the beginning. Album 1, track 1. Recorded in late 1968 and dropped in early 1969. Plant and Bonham were barely 20 years old, Jones was 22 and Page was 24. I recommend that you just keep going with album 1 to hear what else they knocked out at that age. Remember, no auto tune or anything else back then to "help" them along. What you're hearing is just how they sounded.
Then go on to album 2, recorded and dropped in 1969. It is widely considered to be the most influential album in the world of rock music. Geniuses is the correct word. No other way to describe them. Glad you appreciate LZ and thanks for the reaction. :)
Edit: You've already listened to a couple of songs from the first two albums, but now you have headphones. Makes a world of difference. ;)
Same face we all had back in 1969 when this album dropped in 1969, yup, I’m that old and still jamming to the boys
Nice to see we're still at it. Communication Breakdown.
For over 50 years I've tried to figure out how three instruments and one voice can do THIS over and over again. 😎
Heartbreaker ~ Living Loving Maid (Medley) is a masterpiece of classic rock riffs. You guys must listen.
Zeppelin's introduction song. The first track on side 1 of Led Zeppelin I, January 1969. They let you know what we were going to be dealing with right off the bat.
Led Zeppelin:
- Ten Year's Gone
- How Many More Time
All that matters is that you keep listening. Keep expanding your music library. Doesn't matter how, where or when you listen. Doesn't matter what anyone else says. Just keep listening.
Music is beautiful
So true! Thanks so much 🙏
Brilliant
This was the world's intro to Zeppelin, track 1 debut album.
I'd love you to check out How Many More Times. I can already see you two vibing to the groove
There is a great interview with Carmine Appice who was the drummer for Vanilla Fudge where he remembers asking John Bonham how he came up with that triple triplet fill. Appice had done something similar on a previous record that he had forgotten about and Bonham made a reference to it saying "that's where I got the idea!"
CRAZY!!
Loving your reactions it would be great if you can react to any of these songs from any of these bands I think you'll really appreciate them
The Who: who are you or Baba o reily
Jethro Tull: Locomotive breath
Creedence Clearwater revival: Born on the Bayou or Run through the jungle
Really enjoy jamming with you guys. I’m 62, and I feel like I’m 20 all over again, hanging out with friends while stationed in Fairbanks, AK getting high with my. Friends. 👍👍❤️🇺🇸
You would have fun reading how this band came together. Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones were both studio sessions musicians with Page especially playing of literally hundreds of records before ever joining the Yarbirds (which evolved latter into Led Zeppelin) Almost every hit record out of Britain in the mid 1960s had Page on guitar including The Kinks, The Rolling Stones, Brenda Lee, Dave Berry the list goes on. So by the time they formed Led Zeppelin in their early 20s they already knew how to arrange, produce, write, and everything there was to know about recording music.
This is where many drummers learned what they could do with their bass drum, including me.
Congratulations guys I can see you growing already in front of the camera you’re just totally letting yourself just be loose and free beautiful to see.
As always peace love and joy to you and yours
Peace and love back! We appreciate you!
Summer mode! Great summertime album is Boston's debut.
It's 1968 & this is the first song they hit us with.....
Back to the beginning is a good idea. This is a short tune, but has a lot of musical ideas embedded in it. Bonzo’s left foot is highlighted with
A set of triple triples. I can’t tap my toes that fast, let alone operate a kick drum. Hendrix allegedly told Page “your drummer has a foot like a pair of castenets”. Point 2: Bonzo hits the drums into overdrive. The attack produced seems to swell in your ear before it punches you in the chest. Point 3: page wrote, produced, arranged and played all these tunes. He is the riff miester! Enjoy!
Yes to everything!! Page produced all their albums!
Right foot 🦶
David Gilmour, the pink Floyd guitarist- David Gilmour- Comfortably Numb live at Pompei.
The first cut of their first album. You’re
in for a treat.
IN THE EVENING... off of their last album, In Through the Out Door...It's amazing.
Bonzo's drumming is nuts ,man. No one like him and he doesn't need a 20 or so drum kit ???????
THATS 1 KICK DRUM!! 20 year old bonham was doing that with 1 foot!!!!
You guys have asked about other bands from this era so here goes, “Black Sabbath & Deep Purple” are both amazing bands from this time period. From Black Sabbath hit their early songs “Paranoid, War Pigs, Hand Of Doom or The Wizard” From Deep Purple hit “Lazy, Child In Time, Highway Star, Space Truckin’ or Strange Kind Of Woman” 🔥♥️
You will LOVE it!
I heard this back in like....'75....and I thought the exact same thing...how is that guy playin the drums like that?
and I didn't even know who the Hell John Bonham was.
#1 on The Drummers favorite drummer list.
Wilburn Reactions favorite band was Led Zeppelin too... until he heard YES. You guys should check them out. Their first hit was Roundabout. The studio version was cut in half to make it "radio friendly" and it was a big hit, but the 8+ minute studio version is way better, so enjoy.
Zep was my favorite band too, way back when, but now it's YES : )
You guys need to watch Led Zeppelin in concert much better experience
Thanks for more Led Zeppelin 😊😊😊😊
Greeting from Cal. Yo, it's nice to see y'all gettin it! This is the way it was for us when that shit dropped! WE LISTENED TO THE RECORD EVERY DAY! We listened to records EVERY DAY. That was the deal back then. We wore out records! We wore out the needles! There was NO DIGITAL, there were RECORD PLAYERS. Listen to one side, flip it over and listen to the other. THAT WAS NORMAL! Parties on Fri & Sat nights were beer, doobies and RECORDS ALL NIGHT! Saturday was work around the house day, Sat night was party, Sunday was watchin and playin football. Repeat next weekend. Rock it up!
Enjoying your Zeppelin reactions guys, you really seem to be digging the greatest rock band of all time, unlike many of the other RUclips reactions, that seem to be doing them to get their subscriptions up. Keep up the good work, and looking forward to the next one.
Ya we just love listening to music! That’s why we do it. We appreciate you so much man! 🙏
1969...First man on the moon, Woodstock, Led Zeppelin1...!
Listen to In My Time of Dying. Make sure y'all crank it up past the 3 minute mark. Love the reactions!!
Pink Floyd- Comfortably Numb..... it's amazing.
They make kick drum pedals now that are designed to let you recoil and kick again really quickly so it’s not quite as special anymore, but they didn’t have any of that when John Bonham was using kick drum pedals. He just had impeccable timing on all four limbs, and yeah that fast muscle twitch is something else. Never heard anybody before him do it, and it was a good while, like death metal era, before I heard it after.
That's about as rockin' as it gets.
I think some other people have requested this one before. Check out How Many More Times live. It's a great video and seeing them live is a whole 'nother level.
the two Johns doing their best in this one.
There are some days when I must hear some Zepplin to get my head straight. I most often turn to Kashmir, but Bron-Y-Ur Stomp is a frequent play along with Boogie With Stu, Black Country Woman, Gallows Pole, & Ramble On also make my top Zepplin playlist. Enjoy!
John Bonhom was crowned the best with this album. He had 1 bass drum, not like today and yes he could do triplets on the 1 bass drum.
Being done with school calls for Dancing Days from their Houses of the Holy album!
I love your reactions to Zeppelin. A word of caution, Led Zeppelin (or who watches copyrights) pull videos of the whole song being played. A way around this, is what you have done before, by stopping the song to comment on something. Recently, they have eased up on blocking. But, I have seen many reaction videos taken down. Keep up the great reactions, and enjoy the discovery of the Mighty Led Zeppelin.
Blues based rock at its finest. You should check out Beth Hart and Joe Bonamassa doing I'd Rather Go Blind live in Amsterdam. One of the great live shows I have seen. Rush is a band you should check out as well. Tom Sawyer, Subdivisions, The Trees, and more.
The drummer was 20 when this was recorded. And that was from their first record…Damn
If you guys like Led Zeppelin, you’d probably also dig The Who, I’d recommend checking out “Love Reign O’er Me”, it’s phenomenal. They have a ton of other great music too.
If by law, I could own only one Zeppelin album, it would have to be the one this tune is on. But since I'm an outlaw, I'd have a couple more stashed away somewhere.
Btw, you fellas need to check out a song by the band The Outlaws, called Green Grass and High Tides.
Just so you know, they also have slower beautiful songs like Thank You and my personal favorite In the Light
Nice . . . . . short . . . . . banger . . . . .
Glad you got a "kick" out of Bonham's bass drum. Unreal. Yeah, just one bass drum, not two with two feet, like the drummer from Vanilla Fudge, Carmine Apiece , who was a friend of Bonham's, did. . Jimi Hendrix heard Zeppelin play in 1969 or something and came up to tell Bonham "Boy, you got a right foot like a country jackrabbit!" Love that story, hope it's true, lol! Probably made Bonzo's day!
Stay with this album ,there are many great songs ......so many ..
Imagine: 1968. MLK and Bobby had been killed. Riots at Chicago convention. The Tet Offensive. And you pick up an album with cover art that represents the world at the moment. And the first song on the first side is this. BAM!
Nice to see yer reacts guys...Ty for this
Keep reacting to zeppelin and your channel will blow up bros
Guys, try What is and What Should Never Be by Zep.
And also on the Blues rock trail, go to ZZ Top. The first songs to play a pair called Waiting for the Bus/Jesus Just Left Chicago. You'll love them.
Then try Hendrix, Hey Joe and Wild Thing from Monterey Pop and Johnny B. Good Live at Berkely. Unbelievable.
Then finish it off with Cream, Crossroads , Live at Winterland.
Then go forth and sin no more.
