      @@Valorius The Beretta 84 isn't that big. Smaller than the 92X compact and maybe 2 ounces lighter than your generic Glock the video said. Not to mention .380 compared to 9mm has its disadvantages but it's not a terrible cartridge. The lesser recoil makes more sense in a subcompact or micro gun than 9mm does if you can get around the .380's price.

  • @inferninx
    @inferninx Год назад +140

    Hell yeah. We can only hope .380 gets cheaper to shoot, and more rounds become available because it still gets out priced by 9mm and it’s quite annoying.

    • @dillonc7955
      @dillonc7955 Год назад +4

      That's my main reason I've stuck with 9mm. 9mm recoil is easy to handle with after a couple times of practice, so why would we pay more money for slightly less power?

    • @DShiflet01
      @DShiflet01 Год назад +8

      Yeah, around here anyways .380 costs about 50% more than 9mm so the only thing I use .380 for is an LCP Max when I want something even smaller than a micro-9.

    • @jackjohnson291
      @jackjohnson291 Год назад +4

      @@DShiflet01 That’s it for me, though with the LCPII. I only own it for having the lightest, thinnest viable option available for very specific (and limited) use. It’s actually a great shooter for what it is. I feel better armed with it than a 5 shot j-frame, especially with a couple spare mags available. And that’s saying something, considering how my introduction to shooting handguns was with a j-frame (I got pretty darn good with them, if I may say so myself).
      I like that I can throw it in a pocket holster and drop it in my pajamas without it pulling them down. It’s handy for jogging as well or situations that dictate ultimate concealability. Other than that, I’m carrying a much more viable option. Cost of ammunition wasn’t ever a consideration for me really, though I’ve put plenty of rounds through it down range (and do regularly). For me, if it’s not the same size or lighter weight, as far as 380 goes, I’m simply not interested, which is the same reason why I never adopted the Max (size and weight is the only thing allowing me to make the compromise).

    • @johnmoore8067
      @johnmoore8067 Год назад +4

      Because much more 9mm is made. 9mm is cheaper, more powerful but still low recoil, and comes in guns the same size. Makes 380 pretty much pointless.

    This same pistol, essentially, used to be sold with wood grip panels as the Browning BDA380. It was a hella nice little pistol and accurate as the day is long. I carried one in a shoulder holster as a backup for several years. I once delivered a head shot to a rattlesnake at 25 yards - the first and only shot I fired at it. Fired a round at the head of nail at 10 yards that was sticking out of a heavy beam at a broken down mine site and punched it solidly - drove that nail into the beam so far that it could barely be seen. Don't know why I ever let that BDA380 go, but I've often wished I hadn't. Nice review!

    • @rudyrod100
      @rudyrod100 Год назад

      @@RootBeerGMT It’s simple when you rack the slide a round goes into the chamber. The hammer is cocked and the weapon is in the “single action mode,” that means the trigger is real nice at about four pounds. When you use the “safety” it drops the hammer without striking the pin the weapon is now “safe,” It still has a round in the chamber and is now in the “double action mode,” The trigger now has a longer pull and it is heavier at about ten to eleven pounds. After you fire the weapon the first time and the slide ejects and loads another round the weapon is now in “single action mode,” now the trigger is back to about four pounds. For me this is about as safe as you can be while carrying a loaded weapon, Just my opinion. By the way I carry everyday and have for years. I have carried about every type of weapon out there I prefer a decocker.

    I have the 84BB with underwood ammo and I feel comfortable with my wife having it for her personal defense gun. She is recoil sensitive and shooting those light subcompact 9mms were not comfortable shooting, thus when she did shoot, she flinched. I am a little leary about paying those premium prices when I bought my 92x for $600-700 and with the LTT upgrades and Inox barrel, the 92X was a little over $1000-1200.

When this gun becomes available, I want to get one. My wife will probably want it and take it, so no real loss there if I had to buy two! A lot of my friends carried this Beretta or the Browning BDA and were very happy with them. Interesting that in todays market Beretta brought this back.
