I've seen some comments about how it's too upbeat to be batman but the point of the song is that he is questioning the batman persona including his darkness, so it would be weird for the song to be dark when his own darkness is what he is questioning. Almost all of his iconic enemies wear bright colours, and in the song he believes he is the same as them, hence the brightness. All my interpretation anyway , take it or leave it.
You mean the lyrics “Check my hand I guess the jokes on me I’m not laughing at the irony” It’s the pre chorus of “I am the Night” as well, pretty awesome how you use that to connect the songs together.
This song popped into my head again today, so I went back to listen to it. I first stumbled upon it around 8 years ago, along with Joker's Song, and it's stuck with me ever since. Such a powerful analysis of Batman; the chorus always made me think Riddler was singing it, but when I realized it was Bruce that was (of course) way better. There is something so chilling and awesome about hearing him question his own sanity and deeply consider what everyone else is thinking about him. And it's got an AMAZING meoldy and beat! I love how each of Batman's villains is worked in so cleverly. Definitely one of the best songs I've ever heard associated with the Dark Knight. Really holds up after all this time!
This song is genius. It comes from (in my opinion) The Riddlers Perspective of The Dark Knight. That in itself is genius, Lyrics match up perfectly with the music video and really sets the mood of Arkham Asylum.
My thought is that it's Batman starting to believe he's losing it and he "Riddle me this" is a sign of who the song is for: E. Nigma. Sort of like telling him "This is not a good time to mess with me, Ed."
Can’t believe this song is twelve years old an still an absolute banger! Man, if Gavin had released this music in the current year people would’ve thought he’s just an AI. Props to this mad lad!
This is phenomenal too. I love how you reference to the Joker with: "Do you know it when you go strange? Is your taunting true, am I as crazy as you?" And to Riddler of course At first this kind of happy tone was strange to me, but you just couldn't make a mistake, could you?
It is immpressive how he can capture the mood and style of every game he writes about, and still produce a catchy, amazing song with fitting lyrics to the game! That really is true talent!
I like how at the end where Joker flashes on screen after "Does anyone really know of the bat?" like its saying the only one who actually does is The Joker
Mt sister got me into this song LOL! I really like it when you mention the villains! "Riddle me this now, and Riddle me that" ~The Riddler. "So Poison the Ivy with your Crocodile tears" ~Poison Ivy and Killer Croc. "Do you know it when You Go Strange" ~Hugo Strange. This is an awesome song with clever lyrics! You guys did an awesome job :)
No exaggeration I still sing this relentlessly during every Arkham play through I sound like a bag of cats in a blender so I’m sure my loved ones are very appreciative of your work 😂
In my head its song split between the Riddler and Joker, Riddler is trying desperately to figure out who batman is.The Joker being the joker, is sabotaging Ed by being silly. In the end the Joker accidentally gives Riddler the nudge in the right direction. The "check my head I guess the joke's on me" part is riddler at first being unsurprised at the joker being unhelpful, then as he gets more annoyed he starts hating being compared to the joker(Is your taunting true, am I as crazy as you?) and then becomes him laughing at the irony of the joker giving him all he needs to figure out who Batman really is.
Why does Gavin have the most awesome community ever? I mean, seriously? HOW? I experience every day how absolutely humorous and kind you guys are, it's incredible. Plus you all have the same music taste, as I have. I love you guys and I love you Gavin. For you music, for you community. You are too awesome. Love from germany
I always find it interesting the way that Batman's rogues work very well as embodiments of his own psyche. Every last one that stays around works as a potential hallucination of a disturbed mind.
Oh man, I love how this references a lot of Batman's villians... Riddler, Joker, Poison Ivy, Killer Croc, Hugo Strange. And is that a subtle hint at Bruce Wayne in the lyric "Am I letting my reason wane?" Man this song is just wonderful.
this is perfect i can just picture all of the villains in their cells singing this together and the whole feel of it is just perfect miracle of sound you have made a bat geek very very happy
When I first heard the song: "Meh... It's okay." The next day: "Check my head, I guess the joke's on meeeeee, ooooh-ooooh! ...I've gotta look up that song again."
I think it's switching between Riddler and Batman singing. I see it as Riddler standing on a stage, before a legion of Batsy's villains, and talking/singing what's in the song. Then, it switches to Batman on top of the Gotham buildings, fighting various villains and goons, talking/singing.
TheDoctor2222 I see it as Riddler - Joker switching it up. Riddler is trying to find out who batman is and Joker is sabotaging him via doodling on his work and mocking him. Riddler is about to give up when he sees joker's "Goatee Wayne" picture. which makes it all click for the riddler...

I used to listen to this song a lot as a little kid, it still holds up.
R.I.P Kevin Conroy. You inspired us all as the Dark Knight. You were the true Batman.🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇

Well said
Makes sense. I thought it fit better with Dick Grayson as Batman.
I was suddenly hit with thee most ubeat music I've heard in my life expecting a terrifying darkness, nice
It's also aout _insanity,_ so a disconcertingly upbeat tune about dark subject matter makes thematic sense.
Nah mate like your version,
Because it helps fuel and warp mine😊👍
They say remembering is like living something once again, so here we are. One of your many bangers. Thanks for existing, Miracle of Sound.
yeah
The melody in that part is the same melody I used in the middle section of my other Batman song named Rise, which contains that lyrics :)
You mean the lyrics
“Check my hand I guess the jokes on me
I’m not laughing at the irony”
It’s the pre chorus of “I am the Night” as well, pretty awesome how you use that to connect the songs together.
This song is FAR too damned catchy. Good on you, Miracle of Sound, for exploring some different styles for Batman. Bravo!
His name's Gavin.
The Mind Of A Bat song was awesome feel to the Arkham Asylum game, that's why this dude and the game are both brilliant, he's the best.
Love the Puns in this song. Great Job.
"is your taunting true am I as crazy as you"- best line

Congratulations to anyone who makes it back to this song after these many years. Look to the sky at night, let's stand the highest heights.
I can't believe this isn't the most popular video on RUclips!
Awesome song, as usual. Can't get enough of music.

I saw you on I can't decide
For some reason I’m imagining Joker and Batman doing some sort of quickstep to this....
Is your taunting true, am I as crazy as you?"
And to Riddler of course
At first this kind of happy tone was strange to me, but you just couldn't make a mistake, could you?
Hu go strange
Tom M HAHAHAHA! That's rich. Good one. This gets better and better everytime I listen to it.
Yeah, that too! Fenomenal.
you go strange
Hugo Strange
I feel like it's switching between joker, riddler and batman singing.
Maybe maybe but Hugo wasn't in yet... So maybe it was joker singing that or riddler
I think it’s between Batman and joker mostly
I think Batman and joker
That’s because it is
Karaoke Night at Gotham
"Do you know it when you go strange?"
you-go strange...
HUGO STRANGE
i see what you did there
"Am I letting my reason wane?"
Wayne?
BRUCE WAYNE
Well done, Gavin, well done...
"Poison the Ivy with your Crocodile tears." Nice references there...
Vaughn Monger What does Bruce Wayne have to do with Batman?
There are some books by the name "Detective Comics" that say the rumor that Bruce Wayne is the Batman.
Bruce Wayne is Batman? No way!?!?!?

if he now how it was under the mask he would have kill brus wayn by now
To quote Joker "wheres the fun in that?"
If he did kill his nemesis he would loose most of his purpose in life, and probably end up more insane that he already is
joker doesn't know and doesn't want to know
+andreas sjotun Actually, there's a few stories where Batman dies, or seems to, and The Joker's reaction is to go SANE instead.
11 years ago this was still amazing. Batman and Arkham will forever be gold like this song remains
There's some brilliant songwriting in this. I appreciate the villain name puns.

why do I just see Edward Nygma singing this.... probably because it begins with Riddle me this...... but still... I feel like he would sing this.....

simply brilliant, all those references in the lyrics
This song is very catchy
Extremely addictive song. I first came across it this evening and can't stop listening to it. I'm going to download it on itunes.
