I don’t recommend it. Have atleast needle nose pliers, grab gill plate carefully, don’t touch the gills, and gentle take the hook out. Also debarb your hooks. It helps you and the fish.
I hope you would consider recording how to safely do the gill hold and explain why it's safe for the fish. Thanks for the info and it was nicely done!
