If you are not confident to handle a big pike until it regains its strength just use your landing net angled upstream. Pike are a noble fish and deserve proper handling. the Horizon Liner could not agree more you are spot on. All our sportfish need looking after for our future sport and a healthy stock level. Pike are quiet delicate and like Barbel need good recovery especially in quick river water. Cheers.

Just a thought Chris perhaps you could do a short kit list of Pike essentials to take on the bank.Deep landing net, un hooking mat, forceps, pliers, wire cutters etc... You could show us some of the new kit your getting.All the best. Tony
great vid - clearest vid I have seen for how to hold a pike. love the cheeky little bag of seabrooks in the pocket in the last few seconds - beef flavour I'm guessing at a glance :-)
I tend to hold then upright for a while they regain their senses Not sure how necessary it is, but I just feel more comfortable doing it . Another good video though dude and a good tip holding them between ya legs.

Tony Ashton The only thing possibly be wrong with the way he's unhooking the fish is, why not just put a pair of pliers and its mouth and pull the hook out and then let the thing go, instead of doing all the pinning to the ground thing? Later dude.
Hi, is that a large or an extra large savage gear landing net in the video? What do you think the largest pike would be that you get in the large version as opposed to the XL? Thanks for any advice. James
Thanks a lot, I just went fishing caught about 6 pike the lake was catch and release. The largest jack I caught was close to your fish and it swallowed my spoon was hooked deep into its gills it kept biting my pliers as I didn’t know how to get it out. I’ll do this next time. I died I felt bad what a waste and a shitty way to die.

I dont need guides, how to unhook And hold fish, becausel my biggest fish is pike 1,2 kg, shedoes not need something special. I have 4 spinnings, 2 boxes of lures, And i fishing two years

I’m fairly new to Pike fishing official by local van which has 30+ pound Pike in it, and this video has helped me handle those big pike
