So so beautiful but so sad . But iit rings of truth we should never for get those who gave their lives . They are our loved ones friends & family and we should honner them. They gave their all and for that I call them hero's !!
It´s your own choice! I salute every fallen soldier. But remember, there´s a difference between defending your family and your country and invading countys that are far away! Hugs and kisses to you
Given this song directly references the First World War, who do you imagine "fought to keep others safe"? The Politicians? Generals? The Solldiers? If you include the soldiers, do you mean the soldiers on each side of the battle line? It's actually an ode to the songwriter's great-grandfather, inspired by the death of the songwriter's wife. It's not a tribute to anyone who fought for anything. If it has a purpose, it's a condemnation of sensless loss, portrayed by that seen in the battlefields of France in the First World War. It's not a tune of respect to all that have fought to keep others safe. It's a lament at a tragic loss. It's not heroic. It's sad.
I did a couple of burials at sea (while in the USN), never fails that Neptune will welcome them home with perfect weather and calm seas.... We had one with a bugler blowing taps it is amazing how quiet the world gets when that horn sounds!
I am a German. My ancestors fought in WWI and WWII. They fought in France, Belgium and Russia. And they killed many Brits, French, Americans and- most of all- Russians. And still I love them. Because they are my family. And my greatest wish of all is, that there will no more war between us. I am so sorry of what happend those days.
You can't change history. You don't know how your family felt of the wars. Yes you love them. I did 2 yrs.in your great Germany in 79-81 I was in the West. I trained with the Germans. I enjoyed it. @@venividivici4253 As a Russian I made no post at all. I made my post as a German. But I know what you wanted to say. ;) Luckily our grandfathers never met on the battlefield. So they never have to fight it out.
RIP to all the brave souls that never made it home from war. The sacrifices they made will not and may never be forgotten. My sincere respect to all the veterans who served in our history's darkest times. Remember the fallen.
God bless the Scots for their culture and music. When I am laid down...I want this played. God bless our service members past, present, and future. Oorah and Semper Fidelis!
Old soldiers never die, they just smell that way... "LOL", took that from a book on the Korean War, U.S combat soldiers in Korea war making light of Gen. McArthurs speech to congress when he was relieved from C.I.C. in Korea. Front line humor...
I’m proud of my ancestors my great grandfather was a piper in the Seaforth highlanders. He and brother Ralph survived but many never came home. Being Scottish and being a soldier is part of our culture! We are warriors born and proud 🏴🏴🏴

Songs like this makes me wonder what went through my Fathers head while he was in Iraq. Even now I wonder what he thinks of the fights he witnessed and partook in, and the friends he lost along the way. And here I am wanting to follow his footsteps and join the Marines too 😵💫 Anyway, God bless you all, and the veterans who happen to read this. I thank you for willing to fight for what you believe is right.

It shouldn't matter where you are from or who you fought for, this is purely a tune of respect to all that have fought to keep others safe.

How many Tears Have Fallen
Tears so many have fallen
Through the years for the Greatest Nations ever
Tears for life liberty the pursuit of happiness
For a free world
Tears for the sons and daughters that never returned home
Warrior soldiers all
Tears wiped from the cheeks of so many wives
Shed by the children with only faint memories
Tears behind the mother's veil
On father's handkerchief
Tears at the base of the white stone
That wet the flowers and flags
Tears at the sound of taps played in the distance
For the memories of buddies
Tears at the sight and sound of dog tags boots
Empty
Tears when the aircraft flyover
Stars shining brightly
Tears as the ships sail
Anchors aweigh
Tears for those that patrol
Gaurd the dark nights alone
Tears at roll call
With no reply to a name called
How many tears have fallen
Bless Them All
