Miss you Joe! You were a True Soul! I was so lucky to meet you and Donnie and Tu-Bardh all those years ago! What I wouldn't give for one more day together!
Im a proud Scot fae Glasgow and the pipes are the only thing that ground me empower me bless me from all the warriors before me...this song..is proudly Scottish even if you didn't go to war...we are who we are and know our enemies
Dude singing held a dirk to my neck once for a photo when I was 11. Best damn experience of my life. Was with a group of masons for a private concert that night. No holds bars these dudes were epic.
I agree, except Sgt Charles Stuart Mackenzie didn't memorialize it he lived it. In the face of danger with no munitions left the sea forth highlanders engaged the Germans in bloody hand to hand combat. Rifle butts and bayonets took this brave man out, all while trying to save a fellow highlander.... AGRA GU BAAL!
This song always brings tears to eyes it reminds me of those that gave all so that we can live free and those that still arnt free are worth fighting for it's why I served and will always uphold my oath regardless of the consequences
just wanted to qualify my previos post by saying I am an American living in the Kentucky HIghlands of Appalchia.......u never know what you can accidently stumble upon on here and this is beautiful music, that I do not lnow, but feel a connection still after over 200yrs

I am a Scot Born and bred i can track my ancestry back 1000 years i am a pure blood and proud because one day there will be none of us left and that's a fact. My Great Grandfather fought in the first world war, his bravery and sole determination is to be revered but his cause was not. He was a tough bastard that survived all 4 years with two great wounds that would get you Americans crying to your therapists the rest of your life, but not him he was a tough bastard that never said one word about it, he kept it to himself and then inevitably to his grave he was of incredible racial stock. That war ruined every western nation at the time and destroyed and robbed villages of generations of good racial stock in men there is one group responsible for these atrocities and they will go down as the biggest rats that walked the earth in history, but also inevitably they will win and we will lose our hearts were always in the right place but not when it came to the most important matters of the day and that is our Volk

I had the privilege of hearing this performed by them live at the Glasgow highland games in Kentucky years ago. I still remember it clearly.
I was there as well.
Sgt. McKenzie memorializes those who stood up in the face of adversity and did their duty. Nothing more can be asked of a man than to do his duty.
Yes

In The Cold, Cold Ground
Where Before
Many More Have Gone
Lay Me Down
In The Cold, Cold Ground
Where Before
Many More Have Gone
When They Come
I Will Stand My Ground
Stand My Ground
I'll Not Be Afraid
Thoughts Of You
Take Away My Fear
Sweat And Blood
Hide My Veil Of Tears
Once A Year
Say A Prayer For Me
Close Your Eyes
And Remember Me
Nevermore Shall I See The Sun
For I Fell To A Germans Gun
Lay Me Down
In The Cold, Cold Ground
Where Before
Many More Have Gone
Lay Me Down
In The Cold, Cold Ground
Where Before
Many More Have Gone
Where Before
Many More Have Gone

Amen! This song would be also be a fitting tribute to the 10th Mountain Division. I would change only 1 lyric "Lay me down, in the cold, cold snow"
God Bless Scotland. God Bless America, and all those who fight against tyranny and injustice. Til Valhalla, Sargeant.
Thank u for sharing this! A beautiful tribute!
Fantastic version🖒🖒
Wow...that brought an almost uncomfortable, yet strong emotion.

Is gaelic ?
Juan Pablo Aleman...... yes, it's Gaelic.
Well, the lyrics are actually being pronounced in English, but with that peculiar Scottish accent.
I'd say lowland Scots. We will Remember Them.
It was written by a Scottish soldier in World War 1
