I simply LOVE her music! Her voice is therapeutic to me. I have listened from the Southern United States to any Gaelic music I could find. I never thought of English traditional or folk music and KATE IS IT. I have a good friend in Yorkshire who is a folk musician, too, and I simply LOVE THIS MUSIC...AND KATE.
I can't begin to say enough how thrilled I am to finally get to see the inimitable Kate Rusby in concert, here in London in April. To have lived a life that has given such consolation to so many people! Oh! A true gift in this world among however many planets! Thank you, Kate! You are a working grace and are remembered with gratitude by many. And by me!
Kate Rusby is great. I love this song. "Underneath the Stars" is also a masterpiece. Look out for the video a user has posted that uses images from the Hubble Space Telescope to accommpany the song. It's nothing short of spectacular.
Love Kate's music at Celtic Colours in Nova Scotia! Wish she played longer, though : - ( ! Ah well, I cherish the memories now. And loved the photography taken a White's Point, Cape Breton! What a treat. We walked out to that amazing bit of coastline while we were there. I knew it was White Point when I recognized that one spire split off from the cliff!
There's a real girl called Kate Rusby who lives a normal life.... she pays bills and takes the kids to school and gets stressed out about this and that, just like the rest of us. She feels lonely. But there is another Kate that is only a voice in a song. There's an ethereal "Kate" that is not tethered to the ordinary "Kate". Oh, I cannot begin to tell you how badly I have fallen in love with the-Kate-in-the-song. She invites me to step into the bright clouds and dance on thin air forever. She promises that all the bad things will be left behind. She smiles through her sadness and is never ever angry. I know she's only my dream. I'm not crazy, I know she is not what she promises. The real Kate is just good at singing... that's all. She's ordinary, I suppose. But there never was a girl so delightful as The-Kate-in-the-song. Why is there a glimpse of something as beautiful as her in such a disappointing world? It is too wonderful and too cruel. I am hungry and staring through the shop window at a sumptuous display of luxuries, but there is no money in my pocket..
