    I’m sure there is a lot of people that will agree with me. I love the high quality edits but in all honesty what keeps me coming back is the top notch training info and observing your process. So keep making these lower picture quality high information quality videos!

    VO2Max is one major component for endurance but is genetically defined - an athlete can't really improve it thru training. The "relative endurance"/efficiency is the component that we can manage and improve. Those numbers including lactate levels are just awesome to track and indicate where your fitness is at for a specific effort. Keep those vlogs coming, they are quick and efficient! 😎

  • @mattdreeve
    @mattdreeve 2 года назад +41

    Cool data to have! It seems to me that knowing VO2 max would be really helpful if you want to capture your improvement in efficiency. If over 6 weeks your VO2 max increases, while your VO2 @ 320 W decreases, then you’ll actually be at a lower % of VO2max than you are right now. Only knowing VO2ave @320 W only tells part of the story.

    • @MrJaydalufa
      @MrJaydalufa 2 года назад

      This is a good point, even if your VO2 at 320 remains the same, if your VO2 max increases, that is also a lower percentage and may yield a lower lactic number.

    • @shaunthompson1116
      @shaunthompson1116 2 года назад +1

      Great point. Research I have seen demonstrates that VO2 max is in a large part genetic with a 5-10% training differential, and with Lionels level of training, and type of training I don't believe his Vo2 mac is going to significantly change.
      Additionally Vo2 max tests are typically performed in 8-12 minutes tests, and are highly sensitive to pressure differences. Not sure if he is necessarily in a lab setting, so data might be off. As well, a Vo2 max test on a bike tends to produce lower results as compared to running, and running produces lower results that XC Ski Trainers. This is due to the amount of muscles actively engaged and utilizing oxygen at one time.

    More please, sir
    In the words of Alanis moresette, you’ve already won me over. Every video doesn’t need to be an Ironman of epic proportions like Marvel Universe production type. No doubt, we the people want more LS in our world AND the details of your elite level training - super fascinating. More of that for sure. Applaud you for opening that to the public. Don’t care if there’s boogers. Just keeping brining content. And buy Eric something nice with the youtibe monetary/residuals. You’re a lucky man to have such a lovely ride or die! Keep pushing it all man!!

Watching how you take on so many challenges with such drive and passion inspires me to keep working to get better. Excellent and good work LS, I am a little surprised you only started know with measuring Vo2, because that is "old school" sport science (from East Germany) and well known for basic and elementary data base inputs (same as lactate). That ist the reason of high altitude training camps of Team Norway (2-3x times a year in Sierra Nevada/Spain), that is an efficient way to improve Vo2 ...
