Ok so...
Connor won the Archery one... so he's the Welsh ranger
Joey won the Kendo won... so he's the Japanese warrior
And now we need a Muay Thai especial to consagrate Garnt as the Monk Fighter
The lore is just getting deeper and deeper… especially with Joey’s secret fighting style revealed. I can’t wait for Garnt’s one 😂 😅
😆Heck yeah, i want the boys to try Martial Arts next
Connor also went hard on the American special, he got dat hunter/sharpshooter dawg in him
So…
Connor = Zoner
Joey = Footsies
So Garnt has to round out the trio as the Brawler(Rushdown/Grappler)?
welshman that's good with bows, how original lmao.
FLASHBACKS TO THE LOST SPECIAL
What???
wait one of them got taken down? which one?
@@sadhlife I think the lore was they lost the footage or most footage from a special so we never got to see it (i think it was on Patreon tho) but i could be wrong.
@@RandomAutist
They did a similar thing but they couldn't do anything with the footage, or they weren't happy with it so they redid it
@@antonijestankovic54 They shot a kendo special in 2020 but it was scrapped it. This one is a reshoot.
That joke about “while you were having s*x I studied the blade”. But I actually skipped prom to go to kendo practice
Cringe
@@jefftraboulsy8631?
based
The replies above show the duality of man
date is temporary, blade is forever
I like how Connor was "the pilot" and Joey was "the japanese" and Garnt was just Garnt
If only they used "Anjin" instead of "the pilot" 😂
its 希望の星
@jueviolegrace2546 I think that IS a reference to Anjin (Which means 'pilot' if the Nioh video games are correct)
Garnt as the Grant
@@wchan39 I think it's a reference to people saying Connor looks like the main character (Anjin is what they call him) of Shogun. And yh I know they mean the same thing I just wanted it be more obvious lol
the sensei really putting off them "i cant teach them shit in a day, so lets just have fun" kinda vibe
Also being the hype man during the matches...
It’s still fun even if you suck.
Connor: "Are you naked right now?"
Kendo Master: O///O yes..?
3:28 😂😂
He didn’t blush…just pure awkwardness😂
😂
I did Kendo for a couple of years. Thought I was making pretty good progress. Got curve stomped by a 6 year old japanese kid at a tournament. Never recovered from the shock.
If you have the time and are amendable to it, try it out again. I took a break of a few years, came back to kendo, and found myself enjoying it more with a more mature mindset.
I’ve done it for a few years but the kids still beat me lol
I enjoy kendo no kata more because it’s just practicing traditional kenjutsu instead of just sparring
My first tournament I got attacked by a guy who played kendo like a rabid animal. He would show his teeth and squint while screaming. He went in really fast.
You must be really short to get beaten by a 6 year old. With an adults height it should be literally impossible for them.
"I don't want to yell at him, I just met him!"
Connor is a cinnamon roll confirmed.
connor has no enemies
connor is a very sweet person,
but he's also british
I have to say, kias (yelling) is somewhat strange when you start Kendo.
I guess he has bought enough to become one. 😁
Screaming is the best way to hype yourself up for a sword fight.
In general really
Just in general I''d say for a fight
The kiai really helps.
It's also somewhat practical.
Seems like monke’s every morning screaming is practical
0:34 For those wondering what Garnt's subtitle says: It's 希望の星 (kibō no hoshi) or translated "star of hope"/"ray of hope" or simply "promising talent"
Confused why they didn’t translate that or early on when they were speaking Japanese (not done yet).
Don't you mean Grant?
Garnt is the main character confirmed
It's nice to have a proper translation instead of having Google butcher all human languages again.
At 18:56 I actually thought the Champ was so good and Confident he was going in Blindfolded
Bro thinks he's a Jedi
He probably can
@@eleonarcrimson858trash taste powerscaling
He probably can if Joey kept a proper Kamae (stance) which he could use to guide his own attack
@@ellusiv5121im dead lmao 😭
Trash Taste Shogun adaptation looking great!
Can't believe they got John Blackthorne's actor to play in this.
yeah literally the pilot or Anjin, greatest reference
im telling you now yeshua the yaoi enjoyer is the fuarkin goat brah
John Blackthorne losing so fast in a sword fight. Truly a realistic adaptation.
Ahhh so thats why they called him "pilot"
The lost special has finally been found
Explain pls
@@antonijestankovic54 They've mentioned having already filming a kendo special a long while back, but they decided to not release it because they weren't satisfied with how it turned out or something
@@antonijestankovic54 so a long time ago they filmed a Kendo special but some of the footage was bad and they didn't like how it turned out so they never made a full video for it. They eventually put some of what they had on to the Patreon. This special is a new one tho I think they completely redid it.
@@antonijestankovic54 Kendo special was made a long time ago but they said they weren't satisfied with the result so it wasn't released
@@Eiji475 Patreon? Which data they released some footage of the unreleased special?
I like how on the thumbnail Joey looks like the serious mentor figure in an anime while Garnt looks like the clueless protagonist and Connor is the clown/comedic relief. Perfect.
You described them perfectly lmao
Why does Joey have a blackeye though 😂 ?
@@shravansujith6993 it's from the intense training that he went through probably haha
the epilogue to Garnt's Monk Arc
Joey's take on fighting screams is... Unique. What a revolutionary.
8:00 for that Manly shout, Conner is way too gentle 😂
Man to Boy in less than a second
It was convincing the second before he actually did it lol
Yeah, it's funny the difference he acts. Online on games, he's the most aggressive, competitive, and igaf energy, but IRL he's holding back because he doesn't want to potentially hurt someone.
The other funny and slightly triggering thing was Connor kept trying to block or parry exactly where he balloon would be exposed almost every time. 😂
I've been practicing Kendo on and off for 20+ years. What a treat this is. Thanks for the special.
Only a quarter of that over here but yes it's amazing to watch the bois in the same hobby.
Joey must've channeled his inner half of this blood cuz his strikes aren't perfect but they're surprisingly good. The other two did what everyone else does starting off: focused too much on their right arm and each hit becomes love taps rather than swings.
Man, kendo seems sick... A shame I have never heard of a place where I could try it
@@kunfupandarofl Joey's full big swing during the suburi looked pretty good for a beginner.
@@TsunZivenI’m convinced they cut out a lot because it was really good.
This really makes my day as a kendoka who’s been seriously training for 2 years
As a kendoka I just wanted to sincerely thank you for this special. It’s really exciting to see RUclipsrs with no experience trying kendo. It really helps increase its popularity in the west.
THE KENDO SPECIAL IS REAL!
CAN WE GET MUCH HIGHER?
SO HIGH!!
Joey them being polite and then Conor walks in “Damn” 😂
21:18 The kendo master against Connor be like:
"'c'mon, do something..."
When he was raising his sword he was trying to get Connor to attack as a reaction to getting attacked, he would then most likely allow himself to be attacked. It’s a common thing senseis (and more experienced sempais) do to stop a habit of hesitation and overthinking
Joey is a natural at this
He has samurai genes. The blade speaks to him.
ITS IN HIS BLOODDDD
He’s unnaturally good at this. Usually beginners struggle more than he is. His big strike was pretty clean for his first time
Yea!
It almost made me wonder if this isn't the first time trying it.
His form was the best of the three. A common mistake is hammering people by swinging with your right hand. Joey did it the least. Connor on the other hand, is going to be an example I use at my dojo of how not to do it lmao 🤣
Kendo is legitimately fun to watch. What an underrated sport.
"joey the japanese" sounds like some mid western 80's movie lol
It’s a katana…A Japanese Sword …..- Samurai cop
A movie that belongs to the number 80?
great to know how Connor prepared for his role on Shogun
6:40 the boys' reactions when he hits the guy on the head LMAO
It was quite the bonk
Lmao Connor was shocked
Connor (and Garnt) were trying so hard to get cancelled with all the comments about Kendo being in Joey's blood LOL. It is hilarious that he ended up winning both times.
And bravo to the production team! Keeping track of 3+ cameras, 3 GoPro's, all the mics, and getting that lighting set up is not an easy feat but it all blended together into a great video!
The boys shouting MEN reminded me of the episode of Fairy Tail when everyone got turned into Ichiya 😂
The first lesson for hitting each other with a sword to be how to sit and bow properly is so Japan, I love it.
"I feel like Yamcha"
How dare you. Yamcha can blow up planets, you guys can't even blow a load! XD
Oof, that first point the champ scored on Joey was god damn light speed.
This is some cross-cultural pollination
Connor screaming: MAN! MAN!
Joey screaming: meeeh~ meEeeeh~
this is the culmination of the multidimensional shenanigans of the Dark Timeline
*to bring back the fabled lost special episode*
They learned Drifting, Shooting, Archery and now Swordsmanship...
They're completing their Anime Protagonist training
Edit: The power of friendship and shouting their attacks are just the icing on the weeb cake
Equestrianism or Horse-Riding when?
🐎🐎🐎
Now they need to learn from a master gigachad on how to get a harem irl😂
@@deathdrone6988The Harem Master you are thinking of, 100% without a trace of doubt, will be Roland.
they're training to become Tokyo bat family
they should do baseball next!
Connor was at the end like Last Samurai. The visual and sound effects really enhanced the special. The anime references were just a bonus
OMG This episode was so nostalgic for me! I did kendo in high school and that was my intro to Japanese culture! I was one of two girls in the club. The debate over whether or not to practice "freedom kendo" (as my sensei called it) or to wear underwear is ancient and fraught with superstition. Kendo is also the slinkiest martial art because the armor absorbs so much sweat. Whenever I tell Japanese people I did kendo, they almost always say "ahhh, stinky!" in surprise, lol. It is a hell of a work out, running around screaming and swinging that sword over and over. Loved watching the boys go through a kendo practice. That game with the balloons was hilarious, I had never seen that before.
I'm a 1 Dan Jodan player and love seeing this kind of content. Not many people are aware of Kendo's existence in the West, and videos like these help spread awareness. Great work guys!
I wish people did, maybe the Shinsas will become closer together. Hopefully we can see some new people at dojos from this video instead of all the demon slayer fans.
I hope that boys do more activities, would be cool to see them try archery, or take a surfing lesson from Felix!
I love how Garnt doesn't have any title in the beginning credits like Joey and Connor have, just Garnt. (I was wrong, someone corrected me)
Who's Felix?
He does though. It says 希望の星, which means "star of hope."
@@penttikoivuniemi2146oh shit I'm blind... I thought they just forgot to edit it
@@destituteanddecadent9106Felix Kjellberg a.k.a PewDiePie
@@zeroenthusiasm3507 oh. He surfs? Never knew that. Never took him for a tropical guy.
No shot y'all actually have a special on something I do for once :O
4th Dan in Kendo. Nice to see the boys trying it :D
Connor as the pilot was def a shogun reference 😂
Anjin's training arc before the Battle of Sekigahara.
Editing deserves ultra credit this time round boys
The slowmo shots were greatly appreciated.
This is the MOST adorable thing I've ever seen. How excited and terrified the boys were. Also Conners sweet inability to scream in front of a stranger lol. Also loved that the instructors were having gun too.
Not going to lie, it was partially because of anime & manga that I got into fencing, so I totally understand the desire to learn kendo. Love that the boys got to actually show us a Kendo Special! And amazing work, editors!
Really love the character select screen edit. And i can only imagine how intimidating it was for Joey to go up against a champion when he's fresh from the tutorial 🤣
Glad the boys decided to redo the cancelled kendo special, I always thought it would be so fun to watch
WOOO YEAH BABY!! Banger special ❤
Glad you took your time it turned out great. Loved the visuals
It was funny and amazing to watch the boys practising Kendo...
This special was a long time coming; excited!
That intro was wicked sick then the video game character select screen though 🤣 but the training and actual beating the shit out of each other looked awesome
As a Kendoka I have been waiting for this for ages. Happiness.
I did kendo in highschool and it's so much fun. I really miss it. This was so entertaining to watch and remember 😂
That is a lot for a "first" lesson. But you guys did pretty good. With a few months I think you guys would be pretty good and train good fumikomi and suriashi
Tips:
A lot of movements with the shinai are done with the wrist instead of lifting up the shoulders. It will be faster and more efficient. For the men strike imagine just lifting your fore arms slightly and controlling the shinai with your left hand.
After hit just try to run through, hitting the back of your head is illegal and if you run into them into tsubazeriai (clashing guards) hikiwaza (backwards striking) isn't that hard if you try it a few times. (If you don't include fumikomi).
Distance is something you will have to get a feeling for. But the essential is that you begin form tips touching 😳. After taking one step you should be perfect distance to hit while taking another step (with fumikomi).
They should have been taught proper grip and that the left hand is for power and the right hand guides
Omg You guys should check out Taiko drumming!!! If you look up Kodo and their training process, it's crazy, I want to see them suffer them 🤣
We appreciate your dedication and hard work. Keep working hard.
This is awesome as a kendoka myself
Kendo for mainstream!!!
After studying Kendo for 4 years at University in Japan it's quite entertaining to see these three learning it for the first time, though I am surprised they weren't taught how to properly hold the shinai first -- maybe it's part of the content they had to cut for time constraints?
Thank you Trash Taste for doing the great kendo special! I'm doing kendo myself and was ecstatic when I saw that this video came out. Also, congrats on winning the Trash Taste Kendo Tournament Joey!
thie narrative editing on this was awesome! i thoroughly enjoyed the player selection screen.
3:55 Connor be looking like Joey's and Grant's child
Nah, that’s a violation 😂
He looks so small😂
Needed this rn!
There's quite a few foreigners practicing kendo in Japan. The next World Kendo Championship is this year in Italy. If anyone finds themselves down in Kyushu, feel free to cone join us for a practice at Ritsumeikan APU University kendo club (majority international membership, one member representing Mexico in the upcoming WKC), and let's enjoy kendo together!
Man, this was fun! I did some kendo back in uni, and it's crazy how quick some of the senseis are - I've been on Joey's side of being spawn-sniped a second into the match! I can also confirm it's sweaty as heck, even before you put on the armor. Trash Taste boys did surprisingly decently for their first time - the stiff wrists were the most obvious show they hadn't really done this before, but it was a great effort for a pretty intense sport.
As a kendo fighter of 7 years
This was my most hyped special to see in my feed.
You guys looked better than some of my junior at the very least XD
Honestly really fun to see this episode and glad to see more kendo representation in western media =D
Really surprised how good they are
That was hilarious. I swear Joey just did the best by being aggressive. As for the National champion thing, I had South Africa's as my sensei. Needless to say training was painful and brutal. Though you guys did well given you went from nothing to armour. It took me like 2 years to get into armour and that first session felt like getting a concussion from one of the sensei literally every time he hit me. You guys definitely had the spirit though, even if Connor was oddly suppressed and the balloon battle was a glorious reminder of my old shiai days. Good video tho
I’m so happy you all finally got the kendo special done right!!! This came out so beautifully, the quality is top notch in every aspect Good job boys!!!!
No matter how the bois feel about the quality of this special, I can definitely say that we can feel the love and effort you guys always put into every videos, I mean the intro alone is a BANGER. I'm glad this didn't become an actual lost special. ❤️
Bro that was fire its my fav special so far
At the beginning of Trash Taste I kept wondering who that British guy was next to Joey and Garnt. I had absolutely no idea who he was and had never seen any of his videos. But as time went on, I started to respect him more and more. Really like his character.
Besides kendo excitement, the
editing job for this vid is awesome!! 😍
That was my favorite one of the specials so far. I loved the video game edits. So nicely done. Looked like a blast. I'd love to try it.
15:13 Garnt had the higher ground, LOL
if anyone wants to a deeper look into kendo, try the manga Bamboo Blade. Its a good mix of genuine action and comedy.
LETS GOOO IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS 😭🎉
Conor is the true Pilot 😂
anjin sou desu ne
Good special! Can't wait for the next one :)
This kind of trainings are very nostalgic to me, I used to do aikido in my childhood, and we had some sort of kendo trainings.... That special makes me want to do aikido again
Joey has an advantage, not because he's Japanese, but because he has experience using a sword (knife) to kill a monster (the poor fish in the cookikg special)
Let’s gooo!! 🎉 IT HAS RETURNED
ALSO THE EDITING IS INSANE
I was gonna say I'm early, but the first thing I heard opening this video is "Are you naked right now?" and Joey screaming as if he just got spanked. Just 2 seconds in. 🤣
I used to do Kendo back in the day! The only part I didn't enjoy was having to travel super far just to take the ranking tests. I was sparing on par with 1st Kyu and even 1st Dan on a good day, but I was still totally unranked. I'm so nostalgic seeing these guys do Kendo!
Edit: I love how Connor's Do Strike is just completely wrong but he's being praised so much for it.
The struggle is real I’ve gotten to 3kyu and am the second highest ranking student, but when I was ranking up people were asking why I’m better than the 1kyu people.
I've been waiting for this one!!!
This was amazing 😆 love it great content boys 😂😂😂
THE KENDO SPECIAL IS REAAAALLL
The lost special has finally made a comeback
This was really cool, definitely fun watching the guys go against each other
Yooo! I was just going back and watching all of the specials! What timing
Despite the fact that as a kendoka I am cringing so much right now (too much right arm, not keeping a straight back, bashing instead of swinging the shinai 🤦♂). I am really glad to see kendo getting some love from our Trash Taste boys.
Honestly it’s those death grips they have are killing me
You can tell that the Sensei is having so much fun teaching & watching these lads!
Honestly I love watching more side of Japan. You never get to see the real beauty of Japan. Ps you’ve been growing more and more each time I see your page. I remember when you were just starting these Channels as well as your instagram
13:57 the edit 🤣🤣
The reveal that Mr.Koyama (national champion) is coming up to fight with the Dark Soul intro is honestly really cool, him setting up in perfect seiza like a cut scene before fighting a boss. 1v3 and still won is actually nuts.
Connor really looks like that White guy from Shogun after Schlutty mentioned it.
Cycling special is still the best one, we NEED a cycling special 2!!!
Loved this episode
I like this type of video cause I'm into martial art. Hope you guys make another one 😂
Trash Taste Sumo Special????
first comment, ik no one cares
Since they started doing these specials, I was hoping they would do a kendo special. Safe to say, it turned out great seeing them try kendo out.
Love it, looks hella fun
