    ABOUT ME:
My name is Mengy and this is my motovlog channel, Moto Mengy. I plan to upload a Goldwing motovlog every Sunday. I ride a 2018 Honda Goldwing DCT Tour but I rode Harley Davidson's for 25+ years before. I'm motovlogging with a GoPro Hero 8 Black mounted to a Bell Mag 9 open face helmet, no external mic! To me riding is wind therapy.
My goal for the channel is to motovlog Pennsylvania country roads while also motovlog exploring around America. I'll also talk about biker topics and such, probably test ride a few other motorcycles, and will definitely get lost and accidentally wind up on unpaved roads along the way.

Black dragon has got a short video 📸 it shows a goldwing going up the side of a mountain that a dirt bike would have trouble going up it is entertaining

I don't have any cameras or mounts, but I agree with you whole heartedly on the subject. I find it hard to replace a perfect working piece of technology just because something newer is available. I would also need to witness "Real World" impovement and not bench mark info or marketing retoric that would try to convince me the newer version is much better than the the one I have.

Well Tom you know the true reason why I'm not upgrading: I'm just too dang "frugal"! 😁

Thanks for the mention, Mengy! I agree, the One X3 isn't worlds better, image-quality-wise, given what I've seen.
For clarification, I only use GoPro's program to export my Max's footage in MP4 format, for reframing in Davinci Resolve :D
The problem with 360 cams is really a speed/storage/lens issue. Take 5.7k - half of that is 2.85k. So, each lens is recording about 2.7k when they crop out the stitch lines. Same thing with GoPro. Now, take the high bit rate and you need an SD card capable of really fast write speeds. Add in the other things the camera has to do between the lens and the SD card, and you've got a heat and processor problem. The faster SD cards can get quite expensive.
So, you're right - you can't zoom in, the fidelity just isn't there. And that's why. Now, if Insta or GoPro took their newest lenses, and maybe required a faster SD card [to keep the higher bit rate], you'd end up with an image closer to 2.7k instead of 1080 when you're done.
Oh, also, you can add a Sharpen effect to your 360 footage to make it somewhat better. You can't really get detail where it doesn't exist, as opposed to what every cop show on TV says. Closer things will look better, though.

I actually do sharpen my X2 footage in DaVinci. It does help a bit. 😎

I have the original Insta 360 One. I bought it when all the motovloggers were pushing it years ago. It's just one of those things that everyone got all giddy about but then after I buy it and they were no longer sponsored you rarely seen anyone use it. I had a bunch of idea but I rarely plan I just get a thought and go with it so for me it just more hassle. I'll have to dig it out and see if it even works anymore.

I honestly don't know anything about the original One, the X2 was the first camera by Insta360 which caught my eye.

I think everystate is building more wherehoues. It like malls of the 80's. I did upgrate from the x2 to te x3. The Screen was a big deal form me. I found that little circle hard to navigate. It does seem to transfer files quicker then my X2 did. I love the Insta 360 software. I do not think your missing much by not upgrading. Great talking points.

The little screen doesn't bother me because I rarely change any settings on the X2, I pretty much just turn it on and off.

The OneX2 you use is great quality imo. Definitely seems to be the next stage up from using a single GoPro

The single biggest frustration I have with the Insta360 One X2 and the Insta360 X3 is the lap of gapless recording. You can almost guarantee that something important happens during the gap. 🙄

I agree that's a huge negative. I wish Insta360 could put a "quick on" feature on it like the GoPros have.

Looks like an Amazon facility. We have two up here. Anyway, I have the Insta 360 twin pack (2 base units and a 4k boost lens and a 360 lens) and am very pleased.

It probably will be an Amazon warehouse, they have so many around here now.

Stabilization and ability to get external audio like from a Rode transmitter is what keeps me from buying the 360.

    • @MotoMengy
      @MotoMengy  11 месяцев назад +2

The stabilization on the X2 seems pretty good to me, but the audio from the built in mic is lacking compared to GoPro. I never use the audio so it doesn't impact me. I actually don't know if the X3 has better mics than the X2 has? 🤔
