Thanks for the tutorial. I’m looking at getting the Insta360 RS and all the reviews and footage is on naked bikes. As I have a tiger Explorer I didn’t know how to handle the mounting with the windshield- this is great to see I can still get shots.
So glad I stumbled onto this the night before I am of on a off-road bike trip. Just upgraded from the X to the X2 and could never managed the shots I was looking for on the bike, now I can. (hopefully) Going to the garage now to see what type of clamps I have to take along.
The new Insta360 One X2 is surprisingly way improved relative to the older One X. My big issue with the old X is its vibration sensitivity - specifically when mounted to my viby S1000RR - where it would continually crash, not only stopping the current video but permanently corrupting it. The X2 appears to fully address this. My application and need is different from yours - more focused on the sportbike experience, especially on racetracks. Here is an initial test of the X2 when mounted to the triple-clamp on some local twisties. This test mounts it to a RAM steering column ball mount to a double-socket arm. The only reframing I do is in the opening sequence. I really like the Flowstate Stabilization and the horizon leveling. The audio, color, etc. are unprocessed. Now I'm trying to figure out how to use its Bluetooth audio capability. Audio is among the more vexing problems on a motorcycle. Using Bluetooth without wires, stupid adapters, etc. could be awesome. ruclips.net/video/KJLwD8tLHbM/видео.html
Hi, I’ve just watched your video and would love to ride that machine! I know what you mean about the audio, it would make the camera complete. I never had any problems with my One X crashing but as you say it could be different vibes on different machines. That’s a great video anyway. Nice one 👍🏍🎥
@@WheelieGoodTV The vibration issue was so terrible on the One X. A high-revving inline-four superbike inherently vibrates. When the camera is mounted to the frame/triple-clamp, the vibration will be efficiently transmitted to the camera. It would only crash occasionally in the beginning, but then increasingly occur with greater frequency until after a couple of months, it would always crash. Apparently the vibration shakes something loose on the inside so its electrical connection become increasingly tenuous. I sent it in for RMA twice - the first time it acted like new, but eventually also degraded into uselessness. The second time they took three months and then did nothing to the camera. You use a soft mount - at the end of a long stick - and to your non-conductive body, and so wouldn't expect to have this problem. But the X2 is better in other ways. Little things like support for h.265 to make your videos consume about half the space add up. I wanted something for the racetrack where most track/racing orgs prohibit adhesive helmet mounts. This works really well.
Good tutorial here. Got a one x2 on order, but delayed due to weather 😡… can’t wait to use it, although I’m in Canada and stuck waiting a few months before I can get the bikes back out.

Hi, nah not dangerous as the pole would snap before you. I know this from experience.🤣🤣 . Yes with any GoPro they record in 4gb files which is normally around 15mins in HD. This is normal and welcome as I’ve lost many files over the years from dropping cameras or them coming off vehicles but it’s only the files that are still being recorded at the time which get corrupted rather than the saved ones. I’m not sure which editing programme you’re using but I use Final Cut Pro X and when you drag the batch of files in, the programme puts them in order for you. Hope that helps a bit. Cheers 🎥🏍

Thanks Claude! If you search Amazon for ‘Manfrotto clamp with stud’ it will appear. Get two of them to connect to each other then one will grip the bike whilst the other holds the selfie stick.

0:50-1:17 I was wondering what are the bracket and the helmet bag attached behind your seat? Looks really convenient, and also a good mounting spot for clamping the insta360. Really looking forward to purchase the bracket and the helmet bag. Is the helmet bag also waterproof?
Hi Steve. It’s the Insta360 own brand selfie stick and extends to 115cm. It doesn’t vibrate on my bikes but have heard it does on sports bikes. Hope that helps. Cheers
A very nice presentation! I just hate the resolution of the Insta camera... I only shoot 4K and most of the time the rendered video of an Insta seems below 1080... Pity, because the angles and versatility are very good!! Regards!
Awesome, from Texas! I traverl to the mountains of Colorado and Wyoming quite a bit. Can you straighten out the horizon enough to make the mountains look normal?
Hi Gary. The short answer is no I’m afraid. To get the horizon level you have to zoom in using the software which would make it unusable in terms of pixelation. A GoPro set in linear mode is your best chance for this. 👍🎥
Great video! I have the latest version, x2. I had a go with the software today but already stuck with it. Workflow be great! My main issue is I don’t understand how me zooming and moving view etc, does it make those changes permanent as you play the video and amend?
I will get around to doing this as I’ve been asked a few times. It does make those changes permanent to your timeline but doesn’t affect your original footage so you can go back at a later stage and select completely different angles again from the same footage. You need to use the key frame marker within the software to choose your shots. I will definitely do a demo on this.
Ha ha you nailed it. Yes I’m a Geordie and then married an Irish lass and fell in love with her Country too so have lived there for the last 17 years. Well spotted! 👍🎥🏍
I'm 71 and very behind on keeping up with technology. I would like to video riding my pro street custom. You mention after the video you make changes with the software. Can this be done adding the software to your computer? I'm still using a flip phone without all the smart technology.
Hi TreeGuru, yes it is done by downloading the free software onto your computer. To be totally honest it’s not the easiest thing to do if you’re not very technical but I’m sure if somebody shows you then you’ll be fine. Good luck.👍🎥
I just purchased an X3 and I'm doing my crash course tonight hoping to use it tomorrow. On my GoPro I put one of those foam things to help reduce the wind noise. Have you put one on your 360 camera?
Hi, no I never did that as it would show up in the picture. I also don’t use the sound from the camera now since I use these cameras only for the effect shots to edit in with the DJI Osmo Action 3 footage. The vid you watched is about 2 years old so I’ve lots of new videos explaining my setup now if you would like to watch. 👍🎥
Great video love how it lets you video yourself on the bike is it difficult to edit , can I use my GoPro 7 black footage an mix it with the 360 footage in filmora are is it only 1 are the other
Thank you for the ideas. I ordered an insta360 One X2 for my RE INT650 and my Hondas '82 GL500 & '83 GL650 Going to Vlog some motorcycle camping and wanted some ideas about mounting the camera. I also have a helmet mounted Gopro 7 Black. What software do you use to integrate Gopro and insta360 video?
Hello Johnny in Japan! I spent four months in the Ginza district of Tokyo back in 1996 and loved it! I aim to return one day.....maybe on a motorbike?🏍👍
Hi Tommy, unfortunately the software hasn’t been given an improvement but there are a few plugins for final cut X which do a great job. They are designed to take the curve out of DJI drone footage and definitely work on my footage. It’s a bit time consuming though so I only use it on really curved footage which I want to save.
Love your video. How do you get a shot where you can see the effects of the motorcycle leaning? Where the horizon goes at an angle on a tight turn. Much like you would get on a fixed camera angle. That way it captures the essence of how twistie the road s.
Hi. You can select all this in the free software with the Insta camera. It holds the horizon level giving that impact of the lean angle or you can choose the angle of horizon you like.
Hi there, lovely very interesting video. Thank you so much for the contributions and dedication. What mic moto-loggers use with an insta 360x3 that is waterproof and it’s easy to connect once you go back to the motorbike( meaning it will connect via Bluetooth directly without touching anything)?. Very important is to say bikers use thick gloves and they want to know when they decide to record( as they have the microphone inside the helmet in order to avoid the wind noise as much as possible) a mic that is easy to touch and start recording unless that has voice command( like AirPods-which seems a bit of a issue every single time you go back to the bike and you have to connected to the X3). Thank you for your time
@@Gringa_V4s Nice one. They are quite incredible devices especially for moto vlogging. The X2 which you’ve bought is also waterproof which would make me upgrade soon I think...especially riding bikes in Ireland.🌧 🏍

As long as you keep the camera horizontal you don’t feel the wind drag. Obviously I use this technique on quieter country roads where I can see there is no oncoming traffic too. 🤪👍

Congratulations on the review! I still have one doubt: since the original files seem to be quite heavy, is there a way to 'shorten' them to discard what we know we are not going to use? Either on camera or on the computer, on a trip you can accumulate a lot and it would be interesting to be able to optimize space, like we do when shorten files on our phones... especially if we plan to edit at the end of the trip when we get home. Thanks for your help!!!

Hi, I've had a insta 360 for some time now and generally mount it on a RAM mount attached to the mirror arm. As far as the first thing you showed, down the back of the jacket have got any means of stopping it slipping sideways? I know of someone using a backpack for thus shot but never seen your method before
Hi, yes when it’s down the back of my jacket I push my head back against it and that does the trick. I only ever keep the camera in these positions for a few mins until I have enough shots to overlay in the edit.
@@WheelieGoodTV yep the X2 with bullet stick have bought it at once watching your video. Btw since you've chrome and aluminium visible RE. Any video on buffing would be super helpful
Thanks for the great video and info. I, too, hate the curve videos. I am currently debating which camera to get..probably 360....but my end goal is to ride around the country side of Japan and take in the scenery so biggest view of scenery (I dont need to be in the shot), so I was wonder what the best setup for that would be. I was thinking a 360 camera because I could choose at times to use the front footage and sometimes the back...and maybe even the sides (not sure how that works). In your video you didn't have any big wife nice shots of scenery so not even sure if what I want to do is possible. Love the accent :) OH also did you not like the GoPro Max?

It does make those changes permanent to your timeline but doesn’t affect your original footage so you can go back at a later stage and select completely different angles again from the same footage. You need to use the key frame marker within the software to choose your shots. I will definitely do a demo on this.
@@WheelieGoodTV thank you, be very much appreciated! I’ve found you on Instagram now too. 🙌
Excellent video and demonstrations of how to "get the shot". Subscribed!
Thanks!🙏
Loving the information, very helpful! The accent, sounds like NE UK and Ireland. Am I close? I've never heard its like :)
@@WheelieGoodTV Got it. Working my way through various videos now. Thanks for the response.
Dave what is the length of that selfie stick if you don’t mind? 😃 This video was exactly what I was looking for
I’ve just measured it and it’s 115cm fully extended. It’s the Insta 360 selfie stick. Think it was about 25 quid?? Hope that helps. Cheers
Realy good video and helpful. Thanks sir👍
Is it legal to be riding around with a stick poking out that far? Won't you get into trouble with the fuzz?
Yeah I wouldn’t go on a main road with it sticking out the side but the irony is people think I am the fuzz with that camera.🤣
Great video love how it lets you video yourself on the bike is it difficult to edit , can I use my GoPro 7 black footage an mix it with the 360 footage in filmora are is it only 1 are the other
I use Final Cut Pro X and it’s no problem to mix as many sources as you want. It’s a superb editing platform.
Is there a link or model number for the manfrotto mount that you have on your bike? It looks so secure!
Hi Shiv, here you go!

@@WheelieGoodTV Thanks so much! I've learned a ton from this video!
What mannual settings have you used?
Brilliant video thanks
Thank you for the ideas. I ordered an insta360 One X2 for my RE INT650 and my Hondas '82 GL500 & '83 GL650 Going to Vlog some motorcycle camping and wanted some ideas about mounting the camera. I also have a helmet mounted Gopro 7 Black.
What software do you use to integrate Gopro and insta360 video?
Great thanks so much for the excellent explanation
Hello from Japan. Well done vid! I’m looking forward to more.
Hello Johnny in Japan! I spent four months in the Ginza district of Tokyo back in 1996 and loved it! I aim to return one day.....maybe on a motorbike?🏍👍
Great footage of what can be achieved with the X2! Has the software improved as far as the curving effect to smooth it out better?
Hi Tommy, unfortunately the software hasn’t been given an improvement but there are a few plugins for final cut X which do a great job. They are designed to take the curve out of DJI drone footage and definitely work on my footage. It’s a bit time consuming though so I only use it on really curved footage which I want to save.
I am too old to ride a bike. Could I drive my BMW convertible and achieve similar results? Thanx for the advice
Yes it will work perfect.
Learned so much. Thank you. 👍
🙏🎥
Really great video mate. 👍 Great tips and good to see some insider knowledge in action.
You’re very kind. Many thanks. 👍🏍
@@WheelieGoodTV you're very welcome.
@@WheelieGoodTV okay, I will try that. Thank you.
I believe if you click "Default" in the studio app, your field of view would be less fish eye on the actual turns.
Yes but you can also adjust manually too.
Thank you for your time
Hi. I use this setup with the DJI mic now for all my vlogging. I only use the X3 for my effects shots. ruclips.net/video/OZfLFgYtnwE/видео.html
@@WheelieGoodTV thank you for your time
Nice video , Thank you 🤜🏻💥🤛🏻
Welcome. Thank you. 🙏🏍
@@WheelieGoodTV I ordered my x2 today and it will arrive this week and your video helped a lot 🙏🏻
@@Gringa_V4s Nice one. They are quite incredible devices especially for moto vlogging. The X2 which you’ve bought is also waterproof which would make me upgrade soon I think...especially riding bikes in Ireland.🌧 🏍
@@WheelieGoodTV Nice. Even though it is waterproof I already bought the protective cover that also serves for water to better protect the lenses, which are very sensitive. I believe that I will have an excellent experience with this camera 😊✌🏻 It's my first 360 camera, I always hesitated but now with this x2 I couldn't resist 😅 Here in France it's not easy either, a lot of rain ... well, thanks for the words 😊✌🏻 Always safe 🤜🏻💥🤛🏻
superb content. Thanks for this
Can i connect Insta 360 in poco x3 pro
I’m not sure about that one Dipak. Sorry
Is there a top speed you'd recommend for these instances where the selfie stick is extended out pretty far like that?
As long as you keep the camera horizontal you don’t feel the wind drag. Obviously I use this technique on quieter country roads where I can see there is no oncoming traffic too. 🤪👍
@@WheelieGoodTV I was thinking of having it point up/back clamped onto my passenger foot pegs (sportbike).. kind of like a big antenna off the back. Do you think that's workable at higher speeds?
@@MotoMangia yes totally. Check the info in my blurb as you will need a strong clamp. I bought mine off Amazon and it’s rock solid.
@@WheelieGoodTV thanks. I'll be getting the cam today with the Insta360 moto mount kit... but if that doesn't cut it, I'll go for that one you suggest.
So far I've been using my GoPro for my channel.
I think the Insta360 will step it up to the next level. Thanks!
Hi aerial, yes indeed you can. Not in camera but you can choose your in and out points of what you want to save within the free software.
Brilliant! Thank you!!
Very welcome.
Just amazing 🤩.. I really liked the way you explained the whole thing
Appreciate that buddy. Cheers. 👍🏍🎥
Why is it that you do mot see the pole attached to the camera in any view? Is that removed in the software?
Yes that’s the beauty of this system. The software automatically removes the pole.
thanks Dave really helpful I just bought the go pro 360 and will be using some of these camera positions with my motovlogs big thumbs up and have subbed
Many thanks for the sub and the GoPro 360 is a superb camera. Enjoy!🏍🎥
Hello buddy from South Africa 🇿🇦. Loved your ideas and info on this camera. I am also deciding between the insta and max....
I am just waiting to see if gopro will release a max2?
it's overdue now....
I think I will be too conscious of bystanders and drivers thinking I am a "nut" placing a camera above my head like that.
Safe riding Meneer.
Hi Zunaid, I’m not sure I’ll ever buy another GoPro product ever again. I do get some funny looks alright! 🤣🤣👍
@Wheelie Good TV ok thanks for the heads I'll give it a go on a quiet road😁
The oneX team should pay you! Am buying it right away
Buy the One X2! It’s amazing!!
Hi Kickassets. You need to watch my latest vid if you're considering the 360. I am moving my entire blogging setup over to Insta360. Cheers. ruclips.net/video/XG6m2SqvlRQ/видео.html

Aaah, you were a cameraman... Makes sense. Incredibly helpful info. Question... There's complaints that this camera is only for apple users... If I edit it on Windows, does it work OK? Thanks and subbed.
Roadcraft Nottingham many thanks for the sub! Yeah I was a cameraman with the BBC in the UK for 17 years before moving to Ireland where I’m still a cameraman. I travel back to the UK to shoot Come Dine With Me but spend the rest of my time in Ireland. The camera works perfectly on windows but you need to export your chosen file clips through Insta Studio first as Windows struggles with the file sizes especially if you’re shooting at 5.7k. Hope that helps!👍🎥🏍
