I’ve seen tests with 1gb cards but I don’t usually go over 128 using a sandisk extreme because I don’t like risking the loss of footage - check on the insta website for recommended cards
I use the rode wireless go with the one r and will be testing it with the on x2 soon, just waiting for the mic adaptor to arrive. I made this video on the Rode Go mic ruclips.net/video/_z6Wur_HdoQ/видео.html
I haven’t had any over heating issues with this camera and you should be able to record for around 50 min in 360 on one battery. I haven’t tried beyond that to be honest. Thanks for the sub.
Hi, thanks alot for your Videos with very good explanations.I've got a question about the Live Stream Feature. If I've to connect the One X2 with the Smartphone over WiFi, how wil the Cam stream to the internet? Always over the Mobile Data connection? Or is it possible to use an second WiFi for the stream? Thanks and greating from Berlin.
Hi Rich, you mentioned the lens guards which I believe will be vital to protect the camera lens. On that, how securely fastened to the camera are they ( you said push on) and once fitted do they produce a secure waterproof seal so you can shoot underwater without worrying about moisture Ingres or them falling off? Thanks for your video. Take care, stay safe and catch you later. Pete.
Hi Pete, I would think they are secure but they won’t be water tight so no good underwater. I will test them once I get them and put a video up. Thanks, Rich
Thanks for that Neil. I did buy a set in the end but was very disappointed with them as they degraded the image quality so much I may as well have covered the whole camera with cling film to protect the lens. The lens flare and distorted picture round the edges were abysmal!….threw them away in the end…total waste of money. Take care. Peter
Hi Rich, hope you're seeing this - thanks for the work, loving this camera and currently waiting for one of Shanil's poles :) Quick q I can't get answered anywhere - how can I get high quality stitched/reframed ie tiny planet etc, stills? The closest I can get is a snapshot jpg from the desktop Studio app that I then denoise, colour correct etc in Lightroom. Other than that the only.dng I can output from Studio seems to be a useless equirectangular thing. Any tips on a workflow to actually use the raw/dng files as tbh I can't see much use for them right now. Thanks Rich!
@@EatSleep360 excellent, thanks so much, I'll give them a look. Do you see what i mean though? As it is right now yes we can shoot RAW but...what's the advantage? Better processing in-camera? I don't get it...

Thanks for the video. I am expecting my X2 in the first week of September. Besides the Quick Start Guide, where can I download a detailed user manual for the camera, preferably in the PDF format?
Nicely briefly described. Good job. I want to ask if the camera can charge via USB-C and use an external microphone at the same time? Is this possible? Thanks for the reply.
I will do a comparison soon but in headline the extra you can do is shoot higher frame rates and higher resolution in single lens action camera mode, shoot active HDR, higher res photo, 6k widescreen mode. I prefer the one x2, it’s more compact, simpler design and pocket friendly. Hope this helps for now.
@@EatSleep360 Yes, I do not have any action camera so I was looking for both at some point but now a 360 camera for mapping out campgrounds. I do have a Mirrorless camera that I can use from some vlogging.

Hi, congratulations on the great content! I have a GoPro MAX at this moment but HATE the workflow and the mediocre software features on Windows. I was thinking about switching to Insta360 ONE X2 but I have a couple of questions: 1 - Is there a gap between the files generated for long video recordings? That was a problem for me with the ONE R where there would be a 2-second interruption every time a new file was created. 2 - Is it possible to use the camera without the battery, using ONLY USB power? I use this technique to be able to record long concerts without overheating issues. Thanks!!
Thanks for the comment - I haven’t tested how long the gap is in between files but it definitely stops and starts but I can’t tell you for sure. Yes you can power the x2 with a power bank without the battery.
I've been following for a while - find your reviews comprehensive and suctinct. Great work. However, unless I've missed it I can't find any any mention of the voice control with the Insta360 One X2 - Does it work? How close do you need to be? How does it perform in noisy conditions? I'm interested in either Insta360 One X2 or GoPro 10 for paddleboarding where the camera will be around 2m away and it might be noisy conditions. GoPro vocie commands seem to work well in revies, but I would have to manually re-frame occasionally with the 360 I wouldn't need to re-frame but would need to to get up and down to the camera to switch it on and off if the voice commands don't work. Any thoughts?
The voice commands do work but I haven’t tested them under noisy conditions or at any distance to be honest. You could consider the insta360 remote which you’d wear on your wrist. It’s 49.99 though so not cheap. I got one secondhand on eBay. Hope this helps.
How long I can go live on insta 360 one x2 and the second question is it possible to plug in the charger while on live Is there any way to go live with Mich adaptor and the charger at the same time
Hi Rich Please can you make a exclusive comparison at video and photo test, with the One X2 and the One r, but using the 1" mode? Because all comparison right now are related to photos between this cameras but using the 360 mod. Thanks in advance, and great video resuming the X2!!
I'd like to how how long the gap is between 30 min recordings when recording continuously at 5.7k 360 and in Steady Cam mode - any chance you could test that please? Recording a stopwatch is how I did it with the One X.
Hi can you run a test on this camera. To exhaust the battery recording 360 without it overheating. I think this is a design fault with every single one. Please send reply if you manage to test this. Or try without battery still overheating Thank you Les
Silly question I’m interested in a 360 camera but is it always in the fish eye view when playing back footage or can you edit it to make it look like a standard point of view ?
RUclips Search: "insta360 one x2 without phone" results to your video FIRST. So, do you need a smartphone with Data On to operate the camera. Or can I leave the phone in the car? Thanks
No you don’t need your phone you can use the camera on its own but having your phone is useful for better playback and setting up your shots but not necessary 👍🏼
I've only seen my bitrate at 75M not 100 or 125M. How did you get that bitrate? Would be great if I could also so my footage would look a lot clearer and more crisp
I have mentioned this to insta360 and other youtubers - for some reason it’s inconsistent and I can’t figure out why - sometimes I get 75, sometimes 100 and 125. Try editing in stories as this can give you different options on export.
Hi, I have watched many of your videos. I am having problem with Insta360 one X2 need your advice. I have a problem editing files on my mobile phone. The export has quality problems, I realized that the image is no longer sharp and clear, it's like only 360 resolution... Please advise me, thanks
The turtle icon is usually slow motion so make sure you have selected the correct mode. For 360 mode it would say 5.7k/30 on the screen. Slow motion is in steadicam 150 mode so if it says 150 on the front then tap it and change it to 360. If you want single lens mode but just not slow motion then tap at the bottom of screen and change the frame rate to 25 or 30 dependent on what country you are in. Hope this helps
Question: My 360 1 X used to forget the date and time, each time I replaced the battery or the battery went dead. The only way to get it back on was to reconnect to a phone or tablet. So does this X 2 remember the time and date when the battery dies?
Great question - PureShot in 360 is not found on the one r. Other features ate design features such as integrated 1/4” thread, built in steadycam mode to allow you to switch to single lens shooting without changing a mod. Horizon levelling in single lens mode. Most of the features are on both cameras it’s more the design and the stitch line which is very different.
Thanks for reply, I am certainly on a massive learning curve, I have managed to send to whatspp but then it is not in 360 mode just straight like a normal phone footage, I need to put a morning aside and have a proper play.
I always use sandisk extreme or extreme pro but I only use up to 128gb - strange yours isnt working, maybe try a smaller card just in case it’s different.
@@EatSleep360 yeah I felt strange too.. When I started recording, the camera show a red message of "The SD card is too slow to record"... :( And it's not a fake, I payed the full price on my country :P
@@EatSleep360 do you have a single lense file on your desktop that you can open to check? if it is an *.insv file it should be able to be reframed, because it should record in 1440p x 1440p - correct?

Yes using the app or insta360 studio - when you export make sure you select 360 video in the app. In studio make sure you are on the 360 edit page which is the right tab in the middle at the top.
@@EatSleep360 Beautiful! Thanks! That might mitigate my concerns with overheating during prolonged shoots in hotter environments. I've been teetering on the fence about buying one. Your videos are a great resource.
No you don’t need it - it would be more of a want than need. If you only had the one x I would say it’s a big upgrade - although a lot would argue it isn’t 😂
Thanks for your reply mate. Good to know you agree with mu decision. I liked.the gopro but i thought the stitching was terrible in videos. Whats your thoughts on gopro stitching?
Yes I agree the stitching is terrible - I did a comparison here ruclips.net/video/HXxaOO_o1R8/видео.html - I love GoPro as a brand and really wanted this camera to be better, I think the look, feel, design and screen are excellent but they just don’t care enough about 360 - 2 updates in a year is ridiculous.
ruclips.net/video/I61znHD11bM/видео.html this was an example of the bad stitching on my max. I had a fusion before that which was pretty good. Just hard workflow
I think there was two years in between the fusion and Max so I doubt a new one will be out any time soon - and they don’t seem that bothered about updating the Max either - it’s been forgotten, only one update since launch
I'm so annoyed that I bought the One R only 3 months ago - this is a superior camera for my needs and I'm pretty p!553d off to be honest.. Good video round up by the way Rich.!
Yeah it’s always difficult buying new tech - the one x2 is essentially the same camera as the one r in terms of most features - the biggest difference other than the design is the single lens shooting. You could still sell your one r, take a small loss and then buy the x2.
@@EatSleep360 I'm thinking about it. I have the twin edition and am not using the GoPro esque camera module. I like that this one has the updated camera and features and has the slimmer more handy One X shape. Also after a small filming outing today, I have finally decided the audio on the One R is almost unusabe in any sort of a breeze. Maybe a small hit is in order. I have a DJI Osmo Pocket thats gathering some dust so maybe I should get shot of both now.
You forgot to mention in order to activate the camera with the mobile app you have to have a high end smartphone to download the app which may cost as much as the camera itself.!!!!

Yes I remember that issue - that’s a good question and I’m not sure. I’ll have to test it.
Can you record while you charging over the Typ c Kabel? Nice video thumbs up ;-)
Yes you can - I often use a power bank
@@EatSleep360 thanks that is cool and nice to know greetings from Germany :-)
Can you charge and record timelapses at the same time?
Yes you can plug in a power bank
@@EatSleep360 thank you!
I have heard that the insta over heats. Do you know if this is an issue with the insta two?
I haven’t experienced it with insta 2 but then I don’t shoot for long periods - the one r definitely gets crazy hot but doesn’t cut out
Which feature is unique to the One X2? Which is not found on the Insta360 One R
So how do I do a time lapse if the battery only last an hour and a half?
You can plug in a power bank
Thanks for reply, I am certainly on a massive learning curve, I have managed to send to whatspp but then it is not in 360 mode just straight like a normal phone footage, I need to put a morning aside and have a proper play.
WhatsApp won’t interpret it as a 360 video but if you upload it to facebook or RUclips this supports 360
Hello ! What SD Card do you use on One X2? I bought a Extreme Pro 512 gb (V30 A2) and the camera is saying is not fast enought.... :(
I always use sandisk extreme or extreme pro but I only use up to 128gb - strange yours isnt working, maybe try a smaller card just in case it’s different.
@@EatSleep360 yeah I felt strange too.. When I started recording, the camera show a red message of "The SD card is too slow to record"... :( And it's not a fake, I payed the full price on my country :P
@@EatSleep360 But well thanks! I will try the literal model of the Extreme 256 on the Insta360 side then. Hopefully it will work... Thanks!!
can you reframe the single lense mode 1440p 50fps with insta studio?
I think you can but I haven’t tried it - you can probably switch from linear, wide etc
@@EatSleep360 do you have a single lense file on your desktop that you can open to check? if it is an *.insv file it should be able to be reframed, because it should record in 1440p x 1440p - correct?
I’m away on a shoot this week so can’t check but I’m sure it can be reframed on both the app and studio
Too fast to catch up
I need to stop and repeat it
I received my camera and need help
When switch it off the green light still on and shut down after moments
How to rectify
Thanks
Try a master reset by holding the on button for 20 sec - if not please contact insta360
tip 30 is my fav... lots to try now I've seen all these tips! Cheers Rich.
Question 34: Internal storage of the device?
None unfortunately
@@EatSleep360 thanks, btw that's strange as the lower models like go have
I just bought an Insta 360 one x2 and the audio is very low, any idea of how can I fix it without having to spend money on a wireless mic?
Unless you are close to the camera the audio won’t be great. Make sure you don’t have the wind filter on if it isn’t windy.
@@EatSleep360 Thank you sir!
can i export 360 vr video for youtube using this camera ??
Yes using the app or insta360 studio - when you export make sure you select 360 video in the app. In studio make sure you are on the 360 edit page which is the right tab in the middle at the top.
@@EatSleep360 thank you bro
I have a question that you could perhaps answer, Will the X2 work on USB power with the battery removed?
Yes it will
@@EatSleep360 Beautiful! Thanks! That might mitigate my concerns with overheating during prolonged shoots in hotter environments. I've been teetering on the fence about buying one. Your videos are a great resource.
Does the camera come with battery
Yes one battery
Is it better than dji osmo pocket 2 camera?
I haven’t tested the pocket 2 sorry
Hi does it do ghost town mode?nevermind thx lol
What will be the size of 15 minutes, 5.7k 30fps 360 video...???
I think around 12gb
GPS overlays through Apple Watch possible?
Good question - I’m not sure but that would be useful
Eat Sleep 360 insta360 confirmed it positive. Apple Watch can be used for GPS.
@@Hanssupansnow excellent thanks for letting me know - now just need to get an apple watch 😃
I love in-depth reviews!
I've the Go and OneR do I need the One X 2?
No you don’t need it - it would be more of a want than need. If you only had the one x I would say it’s a big upgrade - although a lot would argue it isn’t 😂
@@EatSleep360 deffo want it 🙈
@@DroningaboutIreland you wanted me to tell you that you needed it didn’t you? 😂
@@EatSleep360 yes, evidence for the other half to justify it, if Rich says I need it then I need it 😂
Is x2 compatible with ipad pro 2020 using usb-c?
Negative. Wireless only.
Please tell me i made the right decision trading selling my gopro max for one x2. I havnt received it yet
There are lots of differing opinions but I personally would say it’s the right decision-.
Do you think that gopro will make a new 360 camera soon?
@@TimFromWales I need to test the one x2 audio in wind so hopefully it will be better
@@EatSleep360 David Manning did a test and seemed to be impressed.
You forgot to mention in order to activate the camera with the mobile app you have to have a high end smartphone to download the app which may cost
as much as the camera itself.!!!!
