Thanks for the comment - editing 360 is a tough learning curve so stick with it and ask questions when needed. I don’t see replies so start a new comment if you need to ask anything else or you can DM me on instagram. Once you’ve transferred to your phone you need to reframe the videos if you don’t want them in 360 so you tell the software which way you want the camera to look. To share to social media it’s easier to export the video and save it to your phones photo album and then open up instagram etc and create a post and select the video from your phones album. Hope this helps. PS if you want an immersive 360 video where you can look around you still have to export it from the app but you choose 360 instead. Immersive 360 videos can be uploaded to RUclips and Facebook.
good stuff! If I could add a one x tip... I always put it on a mini tripod AND cover the camera with a soft cover, while downloading to my pc.

When I was working on databases and web applications, my team were mostly young graduates, but most of our users were closer to my generation and did not understand computers, so I had to use completely different language when talking to them. I retired about 8 years ago when I realised that I could no longer keep up with the advances in technology, and my understanding has not improved since then.
This video sounds like it is intended for the youngsters who have grown up with computers and uses jargon that makes no sense to me. The Insta360 was recommended to me, and I believe I will eventually make sense of it, but I will have to work through it at my own pace, and that may take several weeks. It does not help that the touch screen is designed for young eyes and nimble fingers. It seems that modern devices are deliberately designed to be unusable by anyone over retirement age and who has not grown up in the computer age.

Update: one of our grandchildren was here yesterday with the Insta360 and showed me how easy it can be for a young person. As an example of my problems, I was convinced that my phone cannot read QR codes, and it's true in my shaky hands, but not in the hands of a teenager. After that, he showed me how to control the camera from my phone, which is much easier than trying to use its tiny screen. It really is an amazing device, but old fools like me should not rightly be meddling such things.

Very good. But any suggestions on the labarinthine software part of this. I can't get camera to connect to my Samsung phone. People say it works auto with iPhone but so far I can't get it to connect at all. Can't record because camera says I need to have app, but what app and why isn't it in the camera. thanks. t
You need to download the insta360 app and then open the app and connect the camera that way

How are you? I'm new to insta360 products and I was wondering with one do you recommend, should I get this one ur reviewing or insta360 go 2?
The Go2 is a single lens action camera and not a 360 camera so it depends what you need. If you need 360 so you can see all around and then reframe using the app then the one x2 maybe a better choice.
It has the most annoying stupid screen and menu structure.
I dislike this camera and regret that I didn’t stick to the go pro brand.
To be fair to it … the image quality is good, (it’s just that you have to crop the files so much to get something without distortion)
They are hard to get hold of at the moment so you’d find it easy to sell secondhand I’m sure 👍🏼

I'm needing to rotate my 360 time-lapse video 180 degrees because I mounted upside down hoping I can just rotate. Is that possible, can't find it anywhere.
In the app go to add a keyframe using the plus icon then swipe to the left on the icons and you’ll see a rotate icon which you can use to flip the image
hi, i'd like ti know if is it possible using ONE X2 for straming live with a smartphone (i've both iPhone and Android mobile) on Skype or Instagram; i'm afraid that this could it possible only on RUclips or Facebook...i hope i'm wrong

Hi, can use under water like water park without any case? Bought the dive case but hate the facts that can see bottom of case on footage
Yes it’s waterproof to 33 feet without a case - you just have to be careful of the lenses

How is best to set audio for One X2? ''360 Direction Focus'' or ''Wind Direction'' mode? I dont use any external mic.
You should only use wind direction if there is wind otherwise it will muffle the sound slightly

Getting an X2 for Xmas. Already know that for a fact (my mom and dad always get me one item every year, so I can go expensive to a few hundred bucks.) We're a little different in that my dad and stepmom are the ONLY members of the family who never know what they'll get cause they tell us what the other really wants...Othetwise its pretty much say what you want and wait 2 months. So instead of wondering WHETHER I get the X2, I'm just waiting in anticipation for Xmas day! And brushing up on how to get started quick with vids like this so...EDITING VIDEO PLEASE! lol

No not essential unless it’s on a helmet mount maybe or somewhere out of reach and you can’t use your phone

With the same price more over...which one do you think better i take because i only able to take 1..... this GPS remote or utility frame that i can mount to stick ?

It’s usually hard to change the settings afterwards. It depends what you’ve done and what you were trying to do. You’ll be able to change speed but not resolution.

Quick question how long can you record videos hyperlaps,regular and so on
With a power bank and large sd card many hours - it records for 30 min continuously and then automatically starts a new clip so there may be a short gap

How long should my selfie stick extend to in order to capture entire me while I’m running? I’m thinking of getting one but don’t want to have the stick out too long and might hit someone 😂🤣
The easiest way is to look at the app and see what the minimum is you’ll get away with - you don’t have to extend too far in front so you’ll only need a short selfie stick like the insta compact one

is the video encoding for the camera is H.265? wouldnt that make the file heavier?
If you choose the same bit rate as h.264 it would be a bigger file but because the compression is more efficient you can have a lower bit rate but the same quality. However I still go for a higher bit rate anyway to get maximum quality possible. That’s my understanding anyway.

yep, watching this again... (good job there is no charge !) just to share that I have found using my voice to STOP RECORDING has got me out of needing to pull the battery if the camera ever freezes or will not obey the app.

What size sd card do you recommend?
I usually use 64gb cards which just helps safeguard your footage if you lose it or it gets corrupted. This should be okay for most things unless you are recording long road trip videos or concerts. I rarely run out of space on the card. I always use sandisk extreme or extreme pro.

Great tips! I recently bought a one x2 but it gets really warm after only 2-3 minutes when recording in 360. Is this normal ?
Yes it is normal to get hot, all the insta cameras do - it’s the same as when you use your phone for something demanding on the processor it can get hot pretty quickly

Yes it’s limited especially for social media - you can use RUclips, Facebook, Flickr VR and the Vresh app if it still exists.
Hi, great video, need your advice , still thinking of getting x2 , if i were to use neck mount (walking videos) it will be upside down , hand mount (jogging/hiking) side ways, by using the horizon lock video recorded will still be properly align?

Hi Rich, Is the Steady Cam mode comparable to Gopro or Osmo Action at 1080p? Video quality?Would the field of view be too wide? Any 60 or higher fps for this mode and resolution?
I haven’t done any comparisons but I think the quality will be higher simply because you can record in 1440p and 1080p both at 50 FPS - I will be doing more tests soon on this.
Thx for the quick start guide! Question: After connecting my phone to the camera, somehow the wifi icon on my phone would disappear and turn into the 4G icon. Does that the mean the camera and the app are both using my phone’s mobile network instead of the wifi? Any idea how to fix it? Thanks!
I don’t think it can use the mobile network- it’s probably just a glitch - This has happened to me as well - I think you can check your mobile data in the phones setting and see if it’s been used by the camera
Couple of questions
1) Can I import photos from my iPhone library into stories the insta app.
2) if I’ve edited a 360video can I save it some where to retrieve it later to add more videos
Yes you can go to All at the top and select from your phone - the app will save the edit in the app itself so long as you downloaded it to the app to edit it in the first place /- always export it to save a back up anyway
I just got my x2 and not very satisfied with the built in stabilizer. I've seen many videos on RUclips showing how smooth this camera records but mine is a mess. Shaky as hell. Do I have a setting off or something?
In single lens steadicam mode make sure you use Pro mode for best stabilisation. For 360 use the stabilisation should be on but make sure in the app that flowstate hasn’t been turned off accidentally.

The stabilization is so smooth now that it even made the video it recorded when my daughter dropped my x2 look like a butterfly smooth scene from a action movie. Cam got dropped a day after I got it. How bout that lol. I'm lucky the lense didn't get damaged. Anyways thanks for the help man

Is there anyway to mute the microphones all together?
Either on the app or on the camera itself?
I use it for flying and all I get is wind and prop noise, even when adding music the sound ruins the video?
Do I have a way to mute or turn off the microphones?
I cannot find a single youtube video demonstrating a mute function.
No, not on the camera but if you take your footage into the story editor there is a slider that mixes between music and the camera sound and you can mute it there.

on .5x playback speed, your still way too fast to follow for a beginner
H.265 will not bring any better video quality than H.264 - it will only reduce file size. H.265 is also much more heavy format for editing on phone or computer - so my suggestion is to stay with H.264.

how to pair one x 2 to phone?
When you first connect there will be a message on the camera that says confirm pairing or something like that. Sometimes you have to go directly to WiFi settings and select the camera and then come back to the app. If you are on android then you are better to post the question on the insta Facebook group with your phone model number.

Hi Rich, I use an Insta 360 ONE X2 (along with a GoPro HERO9) on my motorbike. I find it really frustrating that the Insta360 discards the created date/time information (using both app and Studio software) . It makes editing the clips later in FCPX an organisational nightmare. How do you deal with this issue, any tips? Cheers
I think this is down to no internal backup battery in the camera so before recording for the first time that day and whenever you do a battery change connect to the app first and this should kickstart the real time and date. Unfortunately you can’t adjust all the correct dates later. The workaround in fcpx is to put both cameras on the timeline (I’m assuming you record both at the same time) and then put burnt in timecode across both clips so that the times are identical and the time will appear as a graphic on top of the clip. Once you’ve finished the edit you can simply delete the timecode effect. It’s a workaround but still a pain. I hope I’ve understood the issue and I hope this helps.
@@EatSleep360 Thanks for the timecode overlay tip Rich. My issue is that the camera knows the correct time/date of recording (I can see it both in the app and Studio software) it's just that it discards this info on export. It makes it very difficult to edit a multi-day trip afterwards as the created date/time has been stripped and replaced with the date/time that the file was exported (which is useless).
How to off the gyro mode?
You can turn off flowstate stabilisation in the app by selecting the three dots top right when you open your clip

I have OPPO Reno 4 Pro , Snapdragon 720, RAM 8 GB.
I think insta list the minimum spec on their website but the best bet is to ask this question on their Facebook page and see if anyone else uses the same phone - I use iPhone XS which is fast enough.

Yes definitely high end with a lot of storage but I’m not sure what phones that includes

Any idea why I only can export video as 75bit max and not 100? I don't get that alternative. I film at h265 5.7k 30fps and still the option doesn't come. I've seen other export videos at 100bit for best quality. I feel the video quality is pretty bad.. 🤔
My export options are inconsistent- sometimes I get 75 other times 125 - I haven’t figured out why yet

No I haven’t received them yet - I know insta aren’t entirely happy with them and are redesigning them
