The Insta360 X3 is here! The upgrade to the very popular Insta360 One X2. I've been using the Insta360 X3 for the past few weeks and in this video I'm going to show the difference between the new X3 and the One X2
The Insta360 X3 brings several new features including new 1/2 Inch sensors, 8K Timelapse videos, Active HDR Mode, Me Mode, 72MP Photos and more.
In this video I go through the new features to see if they are worth getting the camera for. I'll also show you side side video comparisons between the X3 and the One X2.

That is the tiniest difference in low light. I am absolutely happy with the X2 at daytime or with enough light at night, but the improvement of the x3 seems very little at low light. Not disappointed but definitely not overwhelmed by the x3. Gonna hold on to my x2 for a while. I actually like the smaller screen because it needs less energy and makes filming in public a little less obvious. Hope the x4 will finally allow shots at low light but anyway, at least I can hold on to my money for a bit.
I'm also pretty happy with my X2 and won't upgrade this time around. Next week GoPro will release their new 360 camera and I'll take a look, but my X2 is fine for now.
X2 is still great! probably get some cheap now too
i dunno, theres the RS range and the X series , seems the X is designed with action in mind and RS to be a more prosumer level.

I even find that the low light shots of the X3 - at least from what I see in this video - are underexposed, way too dark!
Thanks for taking the time to do this - has pushed me into moving to the X3 from the X2 after being a little disappointed with the low light performance on my last video.
Excellent review. I think I'll stick with the X2 for a while longer though. The main appeal of the X3 would be the bigger screen, but for another £500 - nope!

I want to buy one and I think the x2 is better for me. I want to always carry it so thinner and lighter, less worry about the screen and less likely to be noticed

Please consider providing raw sample image so we could play it around and see how good the DYnamic range is on this camera.
I drowned my X2 and thought I'd buy an X3. But looking at the video examples. I think I will buy the X2 again as it has a smaller screen, is more stylish, draws less attention, is much cheaper and overall a more harmonious camera than the X3. Given that the difference with the X3 and the alleged advantages of this camera do not seem to me to a large extent attractive.

I haven't used either but the small screen seems annoying to use. That doesn't sound harmonious to me and more clunky. I also really like the HDR mode on the x3. The draw attention aspect is basically the same on both.

What I have seen is
Screen should be little bit smaller and lil bit bigger than X2
Sensor is maybe lil bit large but there is no big difference.
Total pixels are still the same.
But x3 night/dark performance is better
I think no need to upgrade.

You have been the ONLY REVIEWER to include low light footage testing!! Is Insta360 telling reviewers not to show low light?? Why is no one else doing it?
The X2 seems to respect natural colors better, it's brighter in my opinion. Afterwards, for the grain visible in the image, filming in the dark does not really help much.
For the greatest number of users, it is also the most accessible X2 in terms of price (less than €300 at the start of 2024) compared to almost €600 for the X3, the choice is quickly made.
Thanks for the comparison. x2 is better. I watched other videos besides this video. I think x3 is not enough performance insta x3 only has sound performance and screen advantages .The technology that provides 8K video support when outputting video is currently insufficient. That's why it's best to continue with x2
They appear to be stuck on 5.7k for most video. Surely if Kandao could make 8k over two years ago it should be possible for Insta to able to match it.
Generation after generation, they release 5.7k@30fps camera. Insta360 needs another competitor to start making drastic improvements.
I think the X3 looked better with HDR off. Looking at distant stuff like the bridge had more detail on the x2 and the x3 looked soft. Most of the time I think the x3 had better colors but I see no reason to upgrade.
If the phone app exports everything at 1080p, then where is the 4k or 5.7k realized? Do we need to transfer the files directly to the desktop and do our editing there?
I like the loop mode, which I wish they would add to the X2 via a firmware upgrade (seems like it would be possible to provide).
The lack of built-in GPS / telemetry sensors is disappointing
a little bit disappointed on not much upgrade on x3 compare to x2 ，only cmos bigger and 4k for pov. but that fare enough since too many product line for insta this year. can‘t wait to check the result of x3 video at night or dark ，and waterproof ，lens durable .
If low lighting videos is much better than the X2 than I definitely would upgrade.
More megapixel more noise, The one X2 save much more details in low light and with a denoiser you can have a much better result. it seams to be better but only because it cuts off all the shadows.
Would love to see a review of the 4k forward facing single lens on the x3 vs the 4k boost mod on the one rs. Would be great to help me decide between the two.

The marketing mumbo jumbo on photo resolution on a small sensor these days are ridiculous😂 my 15 year old 12megapix full frame dslr are leaps ahead on image quality vs these action cameras of today.

I took advantage of the price drop of the X2. The features are too similar for me, so the difference is not enough for me to justify the price difference. I'm also a beginner in 360 filming, so I'm fine with learning on the X2, then will upgrade when there are more features.

Great new camera, but now the one x2 batteries dont fit anymore as well as the external microphone adapter. So now you have to purchase all new accessoires.

My only one question is, does it work with the Google Street View app for taking spherical panoramas with GPS data on interval mode?
I think the big screen is a disadvantage, it probably has a bad impact on battery life. I have an X2 and I rarely look at the screen. It would be better to make a smaller and lighter camera.
X3 battery is larger so it's negated. bothr are rated for the same. Larger sensors are always welcome imo and it's still pocketable.
I was really hoping for 1" sensors and 6K res like the latest OneR.
Then the price will skyrocket and it will be very thick
5.7k to 6k isnt really a big deal tbh

@@r00kiet80 true, but the sensor is what makes the difference, this one looks like a rehoused version of the x2 with no real visible improvement, even if the technical specs say the sensor is slightly bigger.

but the ONE X2 has 1/2.3" sensors and the X3 has 1/2" Sensors

yeah i forgot that! the mics are about the same. ok for vlogs but not much else. X2 is still pretty good. X3 is more future proof though, much better design

The larger screen on the X3 just seems like its asking to be damaged - Plus the X2 is about £120 cheaper currently. Cheers for the comparison - think I'll be going for the X2 (Currently been using the Xiaomi Mijia 360 but its getting a little tired)

Mine got damaged a month or two after buying when the premium lens guard popped open when the camera hit the floor due to the wind

1:20 "twice as large" is a BS sensor in X3 is 1/2 in X2 is 1/2.3 its only 15% larger.

I only dislike this very wide angle in single lens mode. DJI Osmo pocket has more cinematic focal length. Unfortunately, on Insta360 can't be this change 😭😭😭😭😭

Correction : the Xphase Pro X2 shoots 200 MPIX (25 sensors x 8 MPIX) still shots (which is cca 134 MPIX after stitching), but this does not make any video whatsoever, still shots only.

I bought the X2 about 3 months ago, and have YET to see a review or a comparison, or even an honest reviewer who justifies upgrading to the X3. The only real upgrade is the RS one inch, hope that helps.
I would return it. My X2 is in for repair for a month now. They don't have the parts to fix a damaged lens. At least the X3 would have the parts in current production if needed.
Let’s wait for Action 3 and GoPro 11 before making the purchase decision.

Hey ... do you know if there are premium lens guards available for the X3 as I have scoured the interenet and cannot find any and don't relly fancy putting those sticky ones on?
Where is the noticeable stitch point on the video on the x3? I notice that my one x2 has the stitch point near the top of the sphere, so I cant point it straight and walk as it would ruin the footage.
I find the audio off my One X2 is great once you disable the wind mode.
Are the batteries interchangeable?

it's in the camera. you don't need to use the app or any editing software

@@The360Guy ooooh gotcha underatand better how it works now. May not work for vlogging therefore. It’s a shame because even the tracking function only works well with defined objects not object that the frame cuts out like myself in the shot
@@BenEncounters i think it could work great with vlogging. Just extend the stick longer. I'll make a vid about how to use this feature soon so maybe that will help you decide.
Great overview. The Active HDR seems to be enough to justify upgrading. So far, only the removal of some frame rates and apparently h.265 encoding seems to be a step back.

For common people is more than enough, for creators like me it's not enough. The dynamic range, the resolution and the Stabilization of ONE X3 are overpriced.
