And the talent they have is more focused on defense than offense. Barkov is not an elite two way center. He is an elite defensive center. Bennett is better defensively. No defense can contain the best offense in hockey. And we have been fantastic defensively 5 on 5 and PK this year and postseason. I honestly think the Oilers are the better team and am not sure what people are seeing that favors Panthers beyond experience. Even the path was harder for Oilers. Nucks are much better than Bruins (besides Swayman being special) and Stars are better than Rangers (were supposed to be clear favorites in the playoffs). I think all the analysts are wrong again. McDavid and Drai have another level in them too. And we will see it.

LA and Tampa, identical, BOS and VAN, identical, RANGER and STARS, identical. the paths for both Oilers and Panthers are extremely similar. in fact i believe VAN was and is a tougher team than BOS and STARS and RANGERS are almost the exact same team in skill and depth. this is going to be a tight series!

As far as a Canadian team not winning for many years, the reality is, the money is not the same the tickets are in Can $ as is the Merch and travel. There is only one Toronto. For instance if you can get decent money in 20 cities in the US you are not going to stay in Winterpeg any longer than you have too, or Ottawa or Calgary. What I'm saying is there is a lot of discrepancies that make the league uneven with respect to Canada vs USA in recruiting and keeping players. Hockey is 2 or 3 or 4th on the list in US.
