I will admit as a nucks fan that what those people sent him are wrong, stupid, and disgusting, and he has a right to be mad but to go as far as calling the actual TEAM losers, and saying the teams a joke is crossing the line. Not to mention how unprofessional it is for the stage he is in with HNIC. He called the team a joke and Canucks twitter a bunch of losers which let’s be honest here, he was targeting the trolls who were harassing him for a congratulatory tweet. Twitter or X is pretty much nothing but trolls. Did anyone catch what Whit said about the Oilers in November? Pretty much the same thing towards the team itself, and we accepted him back. I remember after Edmonton was swept in 2022 by Colorado, Sportsnet and The Score posted memes defacing the Oilers logo to read Losers and other derogatory pokes. I believe the Edmonton media choked a bit on that, but the actual fans I knew anyway, chalked it up to eastern media bias and went on their miserable ways to sulk from the sweep.

You weren’t looking at the same social media I was if you didn’t see what a lot of Canucks fans were posting. They have a rep for being particularly brutal with zero restraint. It was pretty bad. He reacted personally on a podcast cuz ppl were posting to his personal account. Fair imo and I’m not a fan of either team.
While watching the playoffs so far, I thought both partisans (Gazdic and Bieksa) had done an admirable job up until now knowing where the line is. However, this was a HUGE judgment error by Gazdic, and it honestly puts his credibility in question. I am curious to see how the network handles this.
Also want to mention that Craig Simpson was an Oiler, but has showed his veteran broadcasting professionalism throughout. I’m sure these younger guys will learn their lessons from this.
Undoubtedly, Gazdic received messages that were vile and went so far over the line that you could no longer see that line in the rear view mirror.
That said, his response was arrogant, offensive, immature and totally unprofessional. Unless he grows up real quick, he has no place on a national NHL broadcast.

It’s ironic that Kevin Bieksa sits on the same panel, does not hide the affinity he has for his former team but faces no vitriol from anyone at large scale. People know he’s biased but the majority recognize you can still treat those you disagree with respectfully or at the least with some decorum. It seems many Canuck fans don’t recognize that to non Canuck fans Bieksa is biased as they’re talking about Gazdic as if he’s the only one.
Regardless Gazdic has made a huge mistake because when you engage on a platform where hiding your identity is the default those who go to the lowest depths cannot be held accountable whereas if you’re a public figure and offend you’re in for it. I expect the Canucks cancel culture machine to get this man fired for a non violent or criminal mistake. Par for the course in 2024, well done 👍
I don't really get why you think what Gadzic said reflects badly on Oilers Nation to the point where you won't even say the name of the podcast. Gadz went on there live and said what he said unprompted. I listen to the show pretty regularly and I was pretty surprised when I heard it live.
As an Oilers fan I love Gadz but I totally agree he went about addressing the trolls in the worst way he could have. Especially as a SN employee. Hope he learns from it and doesn't lose his spot there.

Great post.....love all the chirping BUT Gazdic, as a national HNIC broadcaster, can't be trashing teams like that. He needs to stick to making hockey observations, and he's free to be blunt as long as he's "equal opportunity blunt" and treats everyone the same.
What he did was REACT, and when someone reacts like that, especially a national sports figure, it's gonna go viral and he'll need to take his lumps.

Oiler fan here, i love Gaz but I do hope he apologizes to the Canuck organization. I get it, there are a LOT and i mean a LOT of nucks trolls. Probably just a knee jerk reaction on his part, but I dont want him to lose his spot on HNIC.
I watched that stream live and even cheered him on, but in retrospect only the trolls shouldve gotten the heat. Also, if the PUBLIC trolling was all about trashing the Oilers, the fans, and the city.. one could only wonder what was being sent to his DM's as a former player (i think we can guess). Still, not the greatest move to include the organization and the entire fanbase.

Canucks overachieved this season. At times magical. They however squandered their chance to do something very special. It was inexcusable and disappointing to learn that I care more than the actual Canuck players do. They played fraidy-cat hockey for nearly 6 periods and decided to only play the last few minutes of game 7. There is either actual collusion in the league - Rogers/ Betway. Or they don't care to show up when it actually matters. either way they lost me as fan. NHL = WWF
I'd love it if Gazdic is the new Don Cherry. All these commentators have such milquetoast commentary. Bieksa and Gazdic are two guys on the panel who are insightful and actually show their personality. Don Cherry was always open about his bias. I wish more people would be.
Also, Bieksa slammed the Edmonton media calling them the "meat" which clearly shows his bias too. Guess what? I loved it. It's awesome to hear the actual opinion of media personalities.

I hate to say it but he's not wrong. I've genuinely never seen a fanbase cry as much as Canucks fans this season. I don't just hate on fanbases for fun and I know there are good Canucks fans out there, but it's still a really bad look.
I called out a Canucks fan on reddit during the Oilers series for being a total a-hole and an embarrassment to our fanbase in the game 7 thread and he told me to go ef myself and then blocked me. I am a Canucks fan. I don't hang out in other teams groups so I don't know if they are as bad, but we have some pro-level a-holes in ours.
I commented on McDavid not getting called for cutting Hughes with a high stick, and an Oiler fan private messaged me, calling me a douche (I'm female). So Oiler fans aren't exactly saints either. Some of their comments are way out of line.
Double standards are crazy. Oilers fans are just as toxic and cry too. One even posted Boeser dad and said “why is he taking a picture with a dead person.” Oilers went from one of my least hated teams, to my most hated team just in a span of weeks.

I don't think there is anything wrong with being a 'homeboy'. Canucks fans had no issue with Kevin Bieska being on the Sportsnet panel and favoring the Canucks as an ex-Canuck from the 2011 cup run. Double standards.
The only real issue here is that Gadzic labelled the Canucks Twitter as all fans and claiming the Oilers dusted the Canucks. It's just not true. But this was on an Oilers Nation broadcast, one of the major Oilers facebook media groups about the Oilers. Of course he's going to give a favorable view to the Oilers as an ex Oiler on an Oilers podcast. All Canadian sports teams have toxic fans, not just Canucks.
