Seriously impressive
Seriously, OLIERS have my support and im a bruins fan for life!
Getting bobrosky to go left and right will be easy peasey for these studs who score in edmonton. I can honestly see oilers smacking the chit outa FLA, because none of the teams FLA faced so far have threats to bob like the oilers do.

I am a passionate Oiler fan and like many of us have strong feelings against the biggest rivals in Calgary and now Vancouver too. These feelings are bred into us throughout our lives. That said, if either team make it to the final rounds of the playoffs I can set aside my feelings and I start cheering for the team representing Canada every time. I cheered for both Calgary in 05 and Vancouver in 10.
exactly
It disgusted me, living in Edmonton, how most people passionately cheered against the Canucks in 2011.
Struddy is great!
Struddy is a legend
Leafs fan since 91-92'. My buddy is an oilers fan. I completely joined the bandwagon to support a Canadian team to win it.

Love this guy!! 🏒
I was a child when Gretzky played for the Oilers and it was just electric here. They even added “city of champions” on the Welcome to Edmonton sign and remained in there until about 5 yrs ago it was removed. Now? We demand they replace it once again and say, “ Welcome to Oil Town!” This has been an incredibly emotional last 24 hrs as I bawled my eyes out unexpectedly when that buzzer went, it’s a dream come true to see our city rally once again.
City of Champions was added because of the cities response to the deadly black friday tornado in 87 that killed 27.. Lawrence Decore in a speech said " Edmonton truly is a city of Champions". Yeah Oilers had the cups and Eskies had the grey cup but he was referencing the community and how it came together.
@@TH-tl6sy thank you for this bit of history i didnt know thats actually really cool!!!
The “City of Champions” moniker was developed in Edmonton as a result of the community's response to a devastating tornado in 1987
@@TH-tl6sy oh wow I’m totally wrong on how that came to be. I was told as a young kid it was because of the Oilers success and the Esks were great too but I was also outside and saw the tornado going across my neighbours field and did not know it was a tornado. Nor did my aunt tell me when I asked what it was. I was 6 yrs old then so way too young to know either. Thanks again!
@@heatherm6105 don't feel bad most people don't. Even the dumb city council that voted to take the signs down after the decade of Darkness. The was the city had to say no more donations or volunteers please, we're at capacity for help. Rang true again. Oh well is what it is.
Physicality is a must and Vinny needs to remember this isn't peewee, hitting is allowed.
RNH is this generations Ryan Smyth. Let's hope it doesn't take quite the same path.
Thats what I was thinking too, will Vinny be back?
Oilers have the speed see if those 🐀 azz Panthers can catch them be physical
Hyman is this generations Smyth lol
Vinny gotta come in for this series
@@defstone999 It's kind of 2 different things. Ryan Smyth had 2 special identities that reverberate with Oilers fans. There's the side of him where he's a beast in front of the opposition's net and is determined to get the puck past the goalie by any means necessary, which resonates with Hyman for sure. The other side is the lifelong Oiler that lives, breathes and is everything that is being an Edmonton Oiler, and that resonates very clearly with Nuge. We're pretty spoiled as Oiler fans as they're all really excellent role models and figures to look up to.
What an insightful and remarkably articulate guest!
More than anything - all of Canada wants to see that pipsqueak Bettman eat his words - and choke on them!! I'm an ex-pat Canadian living in New Zealand for the last 50 years and have been an Oilers fan since 79-80 when they entered the NHL. Edmonton teams have been my favorite sports teams since we lived there from 60-66, with the Flyers and Oil Kings playing at the old Gardens (Sather and Pat Quinn played for the Oil Kings back then) to the Eskimos. THIS is your time Oilers - GO FOR IT!! This video is a damned good analysis by a very articulate guest - well done!
Of course, we do not know how this plays out. However, the Oilers have all the tools and experience they need to do it.

Listen, The Oilers were underdogs in the Vancouver series, They were underdogs in the Dallas series, and they’re underdogs in this series against the Panthers. That is fine by us. That’s why we play the games.

If they where “underdogs” to Vancouver in that series, then the oilers are doomed in the cup finals

Thanks for having strudwick on, fun guy. 😊 Go oilers! Oilers are a team people like to see win. Unlike toronto or new york lol.😂
The whole TSN panels picked Dallas, and now FLA. Of course Toronto hates Oilers.

That's because if Oilers win it reflects how inept Toronto is and it will be another 30 years till another Cdn team can beat the refs.
Duh.
@@duncanmac2195 Oilers dont need to win the Cup for us to know the Leafs are inept..
I mean, we don't need to be so sensitive as Oiler fans. It is possible that they're just picking the team that they feel has the best chance to win. Dallas was a solid choice to win that series as they have a really really good team, and Florida is in the same stratosphere. We as Oiler fans think that the Oilers should be the clear favorite to win, and maybe they are, but if someone picks Florida as their choice that they think will win it, it's not necessarily anti Oilers bias speaking, though in some cases it will be for sure. In their shoes, I don't know that I could jump on say a Flames' bandwagon either.
Thanks for this. Is there any team in the NHL with more Canadians than Edmonton? 24 on their Team Roster TWENTY FOUR Florida does have 13 but if you want Canadian you want Edmonton right now..
Leaf fans needed this. Go Oilers!!!
Oilers are being underrated. They won’t back down from the physicality one bit. They will feed on it. Oilers win game 1 and won’t lose in Alberta.
People acting like Oilers havent had plenty of experience slapping around Chucky and Bennet during their many BoA wins over the Flames. Kings and Flames were always highly physical teams that targeted Oilers players... the Panthers are exactly the type of team Oilers like to play against instead of Dallas that play a more respectable penalty-free game
I'd bet Turtlechuck is glad the Oilers no longer have Zac Kassian - he probably still has nightmares about that one!
I cheered for the flames in 04. I know lots that cheered for us in 06. They’re our eternal rivals but also provincial brothers. I wouldn’t be caught dead cheering for Vancouver or Toronto
It depends on Kane...how healthy he is.
And, how will the coach use Desharnis...

I know most people think the Panthers are going to steamroll the Oilers. That being said, I think the Oilers will surprise everyone and get it done in 7. We seen how physical they can be in the Canucks series and how dominant they can be. If we see that same team show up, I got my money on Edmonton. My biggest concern is which Skinner are we going to get this time?
Oilers in 6. McDavid has set his eyes on it. He will not be denied. Book it.

Agreed .
Welp Vancouver is not nearly as tough physically as the panthers. I honestly don't know what will happen.. I think Edmonton obviously has a shot just like the panthers but all I'm trying to say is the panthers will bring physicality that this team has not yet seen in this play off run whether it breaks the oilers or the oilers avoid it and win anyways is to be seen.
I really can't see the Panthers putting many pucks past Skinner. Guy has gone to a completely different level

Edmonton has NO IDEA the level of defense and forechecking they’re going to face. Four very talented lines that are going to bring it. Not sure what this guy is talking about. I hope Edmonton tries to play big. It will be a laugh.
Can’t see how the Oilers can match that same grind as the panthers. I don’t expect them to, they need to play a smart disciplined game and stay the course and not let the game within the game get to them.
If the Oilers can stay of out the box and take the abuse, the calls will favor them eventually.
Protect Skinner at all costs though, other than that, take the hits boys, make that tough plays to get the puck up ice.

Oilers can't win because their plus minus is so horrific. On all levels of players compared, Oilers lose brutally. Of course nobody is paying attention to this data except the planning of Florida Panthers whose plus minus is immaculate. If Oilers had a chance they would not play certain players such as Nurse -13, Desharnais -8, Foegele - 8, Derek Ryan - 6, Sam Carrick -11 (regular season), Brown -8 (reg), Perry -6 (reg), Kane -4 (reg). It makes you wonder how the Oilers even made the playoffs they suck so badly.

All I have to say is, playing LA was a tea party, Vancouver played a third string goalie with their best player was injured, and Dallas just plain shit the bed. If Oilers fans wish to see what they’re in for, simply watch some replays of the Panthers dominate Tampa, Boston, and then the Rangers. The Panthers beat three ELITE goaltenders in Vasilevsky, Swayman and Shisterken, - ya think Skinner is gonna intimidate the Florida Panthers? All year people have under estimated them, Oilers will soon find out that their final opponent is NOTHING like the previous three that they faced.
Panthers in five.
Didn't Dallas beat the last two champs in these playoffs Stars in 5 how's that going
I don't even think DAL shit the bed, I think all their old guys were worn out after defeating 2 west coast power houses. Beating LA and a beat up, young, inexperienced VAN team does not even come close to what they're about to face.
Where’s that cat meme of it going “ huh?”
Lazy and surface level analysis op. If you're fan of the Panthers that's fine, but don't pretend to break down games/teams you did not watch and had no interest in watching. Don't know why fans delude themselves at the start of these series. As an oilers fan I can admit to not watching almost any of the Panthers games this postseason and really have no idea the type of team they are. I hear they're physical and fore-check alot, we shall see.
Canucks kicked the crap out of Florida this season.
Panthers in 6, their forecheck will completely suffocate the Oilers just like everyone else.
Please do it. And you'll find out why that doesn't work against the Oilers
Edmonton’s counter punch is too strong. Panthers haven’t seen a real offensive powerhouse like Oilers yet.
@@user-cf1se1kk5xAnd the Oiler’s haven’t seen physicality, viciousness, and skill like the Panthers. Panthers will frustrate and wear down the Oilers. Tiredness and frustration will lead to mistakes. And mistakes will lead to the puck in the net.
@@johanstinson Who have the Oiler’s beaten? An LA team that they always beat? No challenge. A goalieless Vancouver? Lol took you 7 to beat them. A worn down and tired Stars? Yall let the 2 previous champs wear them down for you.
Panthers have shutdown the top PP (but admittedly on the downswing) Lightning. A vengeful Bruins who where last years Presidents trophy winner and who had the best goalie in the playoffs in Swayman. And finally this year’s Presidents trophy winner with the 2nd best goalie these playoffs in Igor.

Many of them have not followed hockey for decades, barely know the history of "their" team and can rarely give you anything meaningful in terms of player backgrounds or stats. If the Oilers go on to win the cup there will be many who say they were cheering for them(just for the appearance of being Canadian) If they lose, those same people will throw them under the bus and revert back to "their" team.... We sucked as a team for 10 years to build up this team. Now is the time to party 🥳
the heart has no problem seeing EDM win for the nuge, mcjesus, drai, etc.
the brain says FLA is the better constructed, better coached, better experienced team, that beat 3 better goalies to get to the 4th round.
the fan within wants 7 games, plus o/t sessions lol.
FLA can play any style you want. but the fact remains, their defense is better. EDM will be trying to score on a vezina finalist. bobrovsky has given up 2 or less goals in 13 of 17 games. pretty consistent. plus, the panthers will be trying to score on skinner who is nowhere near what shesterkin, swayman or vasilevskiy are. a bit different than talbot, silovs and oettinger.
while edmonton has higher end scoring talent, florida does have tkachuk, selke winner barkov and verhaghe, who can score big goals. unlike DAL, who had no game-breakers.
FLA will take care of their business as long as they stay out of the box and stick to their relentless forecheck, which had an average of 43.47 hits per game compared to the oilers at 31.2 hits per game in the p-off's.
2024 will be a great 4th round learning experience for EDM. it'll def make for a compelling argument for mcjesus and draisaitl to take another contract extension to stay with the oilers.
bottom line, FLA goes home 35 pounds heavier after game 6.
If you think Oettinger isn't as good as the Eastern goalies you noted... you can take all your couch analysis and light it on fire. Panthers played OK against the Rangers... who just lost their energy in the last few games. The Eastern was the Rangers' to lose... and they did. Most analysts are still scratching their collective heads.
Not saying the Panthers cannot win, but if you think the Oilers will roll over, well you'd best hang on to your britches, lol.
