As a American I am so embarrassed by Indy car. From the dogsh*t race announcers of Townsend Bell and James Hinchcliff to the quality of the racing on track. It's downright boring. INDY car has to prioritize specific teams or manufacturer's ability to individually upgrade at least 1 part of the car to attempt to get an edge. It has to be more like F1.
I am looking forward to St. Petersburg too but there is no way it's going to live up to the race this year. That race had everything. I still can't believe how crazy that was.
Brilliant race. Sheer entertainment. Dixon has to be the greatest open wheeler alive. Loved the season, but now it’s over. Only the over hyped F1 to take a passing interest in. Come on! - Power steering isn’t racing.
In a race where everyone was running into each other or going off the track....somehow Sting Ray kept it clean the entire race and was pretty much never even mentioned.
Current f1 cars have no conditions to race at laguna seca bcoz of: 1. Corkscrew (obvs) 2. Track width needs to be at least 12 metres (necessary for a "new track")
@@L.internet8 is the elevation change any more than spa, or the banked turns at the Dutch gp? What about the width of Monaco? At least at Leguna they have run off areas
Dixon earned that win. He got two penalties, one for a starting grid violation and one for contact in one of the early cautions, that really didn't look like his fault. Also, congratulations on Sting Ray following you, lets just hope the following stays online!
That early one was definitely his fault. Not leaving space for Herta and punting Veekay off was definitely worth a penalty. He was a jackass to OWard earlier this season for the same kind of shenanigans

Biggest thing is Callum Ilott is now never allowed to enter Argentina cuz Canapino made a mistake and broke his wing by hitting Callum's car... Cuz Argentinian fans are worse than the goddamn Tifosi, you can imagine what has been thrown at Callum since.
Callum made the mistake making an unnecessary move on his team mate, cost him the position and also more important, money for the team (which they need) Also he's brit so he would probably get death threated anyway, still bad

Hey look on the bright side, was at the London double header for Formula E this year and the Sunday race was delayed by well over an hour waiting for the track to stop its impersonation of the Thames... Probably a good thing FE cars have halos rather than aero screens or you'd have had to equip the drivers with snorkels!
I feel like if they had moved the restart zone to the front stretch a few 100 feet from the start finish line they would have had a lot less cautions and accidents
Yeah, im argentinian but illot dont deserve death threats, that crash was race incident, but illot was very agresive in the race with that reincorporation that almost crashed Rossi and that weird sbin in pit lane
Chaotic race really. Palou and Grosjean were the fastest apparently but the usual crashtest guys did not let them win. Dixon winning this one is crazy given his walkthrough/early pit strategy.
It's just not a traditional season of IndyCar without Dixon defying reality and sneaking in the back door to take the top step on the podium on more than one occasion at least
Is anyone else still trying to figure out how Dixon won. I straight said to myself "holy shit, Dixon is going to win with 23 laps left and I am still not sure how he did it.
I stopped watching IndyCar after the split, back in the late 90s. Haven’t watched any of it since, that is until I discovered your channel. Thanks for this, it’s great to see the series rising back from the ashes!

I didn't manage to catch the whole race, but saw about 3 of the cautions. I had no idea about needing to refuel the safety car though 😂. Excellent video once again Will, it'll be interesting to see if any of the remaining F1 races can be this entertaining.

Pato O'Ward missed 3rd in the championship by 4 points. He ended up beating Newgarden who was in 3rd, but Mclaughlin swooped in and beat both of them leaping from 5th to 3rd.
Did not watch the race, but was following the standings... Can someone explain why Pato had to pit when he was leading? I mean, they knew he was going to drop to the back right? what happened... same with Gorsjean...

A few weeks ago I was watching the Monterrey Classic races, and the commentators kept talking about how great the new surface would be for the indycars, how they'll have so much grip and be very fast. So watching none of that happen was hilarious. Also Grosjean had a very clean race, everyone else however...
Crazee race!!!! Laguna is a proper race track. Grosjean had a super strong race... always at or near the front and was leading when he had to pit for fuel. Romain can be amazing on Street /Road courses. C'mon Romain!!!!

I mean, the entire entertainment this race provided was counting how many people either spun out, crashed, beached the car in the gravel and, my personal favorite, how many times the engine starter tool was taken out of the truck on track. I'm gonna be honest, I lost track of all the statistics around 4th caution when I stood up to get myself a beer...
I really really really think you should do at least one comedy review about a race here in Argentina. I recomend either Turismo Nacional (small hatches and sedans driven by maniacs) or Turismo Carretera (the most popular category here).

Talking about Headout being able to give us a free trip to see a F1 race. In before they send you an email asking to attend :) Not that I think it is possible as the Europe races are over But beside covering F1, then you could cover F2 or F3 when they are racing as well

@@shannon5373 yeah..and it has 33 cars and 3 hours...and i don t wanna talk about the track layout because man you can fit 3-5 cars alonsides...if on a track like zandoort we had almost 190 passes, 329 is rlly a poor stat
F1 averages about 32 overtakes a race, so if F1 had 186 overtakes at Zandoort, imagine if Indycar ran there. Indycar averages more than twice the overtakes on a road course because the racing is way closer. There were 264 overtakes for position yesterday at Laguna Seca and that’s a road course. And there’s usually only 1 or 2 lead changes in F1 per race, especially this year. Yesterdays Indycar race alone at had 6 lead changes amongst 6 different drivers, and that’s just one race. You don’t see that in F1.
Lots of aggression on the restarts was a problem - but I think the new pavement in combo with where they are released to "green" needs to be addressed. Either the green needs to be taken closer to the flag stand or they need to move it back further from the final corner to separate the field more. As it was - it was too easy to dive bomb that last corner once it was green and it cause multiple stack ups. Something IndyCar and Laguna Seca need to look at for 2024.
I would love an IMSA mx-5 cup review. It's probably my favorite racing series of all time. The amount of action and unpredictability every race is unlike any other series. And I watch pretty much everything, from F1 and Indy, to WEC to GT and touring, and MotoGP and superbikes.
Indycar ends the season early so they don't compete with the NFL. Motorsport TV ratings here in the states usually plummet big time once football season gets going.
To add on to what I was saying from my previous comment, Indycar on NBC averaged about 1 million viewers this season. This past Sunday, Laguna Seca was on at the same time as week 1 of the NFL, and only got 500K viewers.

I really thought for a brief minute, what I'd been waiting for since lotus would happen. The firey driver would do it, and I'm kinda sad he wasn't able to win this one. Then again, if someone didn't steam into the side of him he probably would've won the season opener
The safety car needing refueling really encapsulates this whole race
I was shocked the safety car didn't cause a yellow, seems like every other car on track did.
Looks like they learned from Nashville that they need to bring extra fuel for the pace car.

According to Roman Grosjean, F1 cars front wing is too low to run a Laguna. They can’t get through the cork screw without damage.

I used to live in Riverside so when I heard Laguna was turned into an ice rink, I had to rewind. Wasn't paying attention and panicked! lol

Either the green needs to be taken closer to the flag stand or they need to move it back further from the final corner to separate the field more. As it was - it was too easy to dive bomb that last corner once it was green and it cause multiple stack ups. Something IndyCar and Laguna Seca need to look at for 2024.

I would love an IMSA mx-5 cup review. It's probably my favorite racing series of all time. The amount of action and unpredictability every race is unlike any other series. And I watch pretty much everything, from F1 and Indy, to WEC to GT and touring, and MotoGP and superbikes.

I think it's because the fall is such a busy time for other sports in America.
Indycar ends the season early so they don't compete with the NFL. Motorsport TV ratings here in the states usually plummet big time once football season gets going.
Texas has about a dozen college football teams that bring in more TV ratings than IndyCar :(
To add on to what I was saying from my previous comment, Indycar on NBC averaged about 1 million viewers this season. This past Sunday, Laguna Seca was on at the same time as week 1 of the NFL, and only got 500K viewers.

I really thought for a brief minute, what I'd been waiting for since lotus would happen. The firey driver would do it, and I'm kinda sad he wasn't able to win this one. Then again, if someone didn't steam into the side of him he probably would've won the season opener
