The RUclips feed showed me your videos because of Instagram growth but I like your style, philosophy and aesthetic, so I’d be happy to see more of your different content on my feed :)
I think what resonates most with me about your content on this channel is your perspective. This video was 100x more valuable than a video about 0-1k followers on Instagram because the message helps people gain a healthier perspective about social media. If i had a million IG followers, i would have gotten the same great value from this as i did today with, uhh... not a million followers. Reminding people why they started wanting to share things on social media, before they were consumed with algorithms and such, is a powerful thing and you do a fantastic job of cutting through all of that.
This was exactly what I needed to hear today! In the past few weeks, I’ve watched hashtag performance tank and reach go way, way down (and I didn’t think it could get worse but it has!). Your analogy was spot on and I actually paused your video to rush over and capture all the ideas I suddenly got from all the inspiration I gained by listening to your encouraging words. Thanks again! Onward!
I was seriously considering quitting Instagram and haven't posted in weeks... but somehow this video is making me feel like I need to post right now! Thank you as always!
I'm on the same boat like everyone else, frustrated and agitated about not getting the followers and the reach, but you nailed it in the simplest way possible to make us all feel better. You truly inspire everyone the way it should be done. Thank You so much 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I couldn’t agree more. Making great art is the goal, not selling out an arena of consumers. What’s success: being stressed about the next epoch in reach or being happy learning & perfecting a craft? The love of our process will keep us motivated and innovative during the difficult times. Re: your question. I really enjoy your insight on how to improve engagement on IG. Making stories interactive was fun to hear about then try. In the future, I’d like to hear about the benefits of creating a RUclips channel; and the challenges a still photographer will face and conquer whilst adding high quality video to their portfolio.
I am not a photographer, however your take on Instagram tips I find very refreshing. Many Instagram tip channels that I have come across seem to talk in a very generic way, meaning as a creative a lot of the time the advice is not super relevant/appropriate. However, the thing I really like about your channel is your advice comes from the point of view of a creative. So even though I am in a different creative niche I have always found your videos super revelant. This video is a perfect reason why your channel stands out above all the others out there.
Great advice man! Not sure how your stuff popped up in my suggested videos, but glad it did. I personally enjoy all of it. I also struggle with that on my channel as well. I do a ton of different (but all photo/video related) stuff on my channel and was always worried about not being niche enough to really grow, but I think in the end it has actually helped me, because things like lockdowns and pandemics and burnout haven't affected me like my other more nichey RUclipsr friends. I'd say just try to keep it balanced and don't do too many of the same type of videos in a row.
This is a really great summary of the problem with focusing on follower growth. Thanks for making such a succinct video on the concept! I really hope that creators (especially budding artists) take this to heart.
What really helps me is your instagram tips, you have such a positive outlook on it all and it really encourages me. Your content to me translates as such, advice from a best friend "ok don't do that try this instead". A lot of instagram tips videos spend so much more time pointing out everything you do wrong and it can be super discouraging and there is none of that with you. Your product photo videos are incredibly helpful, even if you're a creative from another niche you can find something super helpful. Thank you so much for making these videos, I've seen a huge change in my IG and my perspective on growing there. Quality > quantity
Jonny, I am a photographer and have no intention of ever making Reels, no matter how many views they supposedly get. Your photography marketing content is most helpful to me 👍
I have to say that I enjoy all of your content. I initially came upon your page because of the Instagram tips but stayed because of your outdoor photography videos. I do like the variety of content on your page but truly enjoy you outdoors and going over what it is you do for a living.
I learn a lot when I click on your videos, so thank you for doing this. I'm a photographer who truly enjoys all your videos, and considering how IG keeps changing, your IG tips videos have really been helpful in understanding what's going on, what & what not to do on IG, and more importantly, get back to enjoying IG rather than stressing over it.
Been enjoying your perspectives on creativity and creating with purpose. Some slumps or habits are hard to break without something to ground or anchor you. The “why” for the hobby/practice. Your takes along those lines are like timely reminders in that sense haha
Honestly, if I spent the same amount of time creating content for myself/current following than I did researching how to get more - I’d probably have double the amount I do now. Only downside, I wouldn’t have discovered this channel, or you, Jonny Keeley - The Man, The Myth, The Legend ! hahaha Thanks for putting in the time to make this video.
Your videos came up in my recommended because I was looking at similar Instagram growth videos. I am not an artist or photographer. I decided to stay because I like your delivery.
I swear thank you for this video it really boosted my morale, because I always stress on why my instagram account is not growing while I’m trying my level best to create great content! I appreciate it a lot! And about your question on my side the instagram tips have been amazing
This is great advice. Seriously. Who else is watching this and quietly wondering if they have been going outside the venue to try and get new audience a little bit too much lately? We certainly are! I guess the question is…. (To continue this analogy) if you are a band performing in the same venue regularly to a broadly similar audience, gradually over time some of your core audience will more away or lose interest as their life circumstances change. So after time you will have to go out and get new audience members - I guess? Unless of course word of mouth sustains growth? So thought provoking thanks for sharing this!
I'm very grateful to find your channel. I needed to hear someone talk about social media from this perspective. I've watched a handful of your videos about Instagram, and it's how I found you. You are the first person I've come across that is being transparent about your own experience on social media. Your videos have given me the perspective shift I needed. Thank you very much you have been very helpful.
Great analogy. This is the first video of yours I've seen, it got on my feed because I've been searching tips on Instagram. Great video! I'm going to check your channel.
Hello from Singapore 🇸🇬!! You’re a life saver, Thank you for this great content. Really need to hear this, now I’m feeling better and I’m not gonna focus so much on the numbers of follower but getting engagement and create more great content. Love your video, everything in your channel, keep doing what you’re doing💕
Thank You..!!! Needed this... Been chasing the numbers and trying to know how can I get more numbers for the past few weeks, I think I'm gonna stop right now and focus for on my content and engage with my current audience. 🔥❤
You have lighten so many people up in this point of view, including me. As an artist, I’m also stuck in the desire of growing new followers and it has affected me negatively. So I’m thankful for your advices now that they remind me to focus on creating my art. 💚
I have never been into Instagram for money. I try and help educate. I took over an Instagram account for a group I belong to and, without knowing what I was doing, took the account from about 40 followers to at its peak to 25k followers. All of this without a penny in advertising. All I did was post content people liked and some hashtags. Please keep u[ the Instagram content. You are doing a great job.
Hi Jonny, I follow your YT channel becuase of the IG tips and tricks. I love how you approach to this journey you do not pretend to be an IG expert or guru. The advised you give I feel like coming from a friend! Thank you for sharing all your experties in such a reachable way!
For me, Jonny - I come to your channel for the photography and the photography tips. I'm not a big fan of IG, I just love photography, and you have a great way of breaking it down; showing it to us; and helping us be better photographers. I appreciate that. Tks mate.
I LOVE this advice!! It's so real and true. I don't have a large following but I noticed as soon as I changed my perspective on "growth" things changed.
I'm so glad you made this video, for a beat, I was worrying to much about getting more followers and less about making content worthy of the followers I already have. I do enjoy taking photos and drone shots and I'm going to carry on with that and not worry about getting more people to see them. If you like it.... Great and if you don't, that's also fine too. Thanks bud 👍
To answer the question you pose in this video, I would have to say that this advice felt nice. To focus more on your passion than who actually likes it.. because you can’t give your best if you’re not passionate about what you do. People who see that passion will want to “follow” or be close to it.. I think the struggle comes with the balance of the two. I’d like to just focus on my passion.. if I had someone to help focus on the social media part.😉 Thanks for sharing this video!😊💜✨
Once again, Jonny, thank you so much for all the tips and learning content you’ve been given to us. It’s a gift in fact. This video turns into the reason why we subscribe and follow your job…the way you share all the info makes this so much easier. To answer your question, in my case, definitely the outdoors photography and film videos are a must!! The way you show us your job is unique. Thanks once again and keep us posted about your upcoming work!!
This really hits the spot for someone who is a landscaoe photographer ln Instagram. Keep uo the great vids. Love the instagram tips and the out door photography vids keep them coming
Tough question to ask dude! I love they way your channel is now with tidbits of info from a few different fields that all, in one way or another, relate to each other.
My preference at the moment is Instagram, just building a new account. However I am an Fine Artist an interested in Photography. I wouldn't drop Instagram feed; I'm sure I'm not the only one who finds it extremely easy to listen and learn from 🌻
RUclips is the best platform where it seems as though we can really engage with you. Instagram is just for quick and simple things for those on the phone. Push your RUclips further beyond just Instagram content. Go to general photography and videography content that all of us want. Instagram seems as though it's in a mess at the moment. Looking forward to seeing more of your non Instagram related content
It’s all fantastic! I love the effort you put in. The lessons are great but your content is the greatest lesson. High quality is what we all need. No quick fixes just hard work like you put in.
This is the first time I've watched any of your content. I loved your analogies, so true. Your delivery is great. Social pages are so frustrating. So I hit subscribe to see what is coming next 😅
Gosh! Thank you for this! I've been following you for a bit and really appreciated your advice and thoughts. This, has been something I've been wrestling with and due to a couple of your other videos, I have tried to stop worrying about the insights of the account. So this video really put a brilliant spin on being a true creator and artist❣️📸 I've certainly enjoyed ALL your tips about IG & Outdoor photography. In fact, I've been really mulling over creating my own YT channel and would like a few tips on how to create that. I am currently struggling with an adequate YT name for my photography and Life chats...and how I'll coordinate that to include my love for music. I know, it's probably to many things to cover at once but I like to think I am unique enough to pull it off, so to speak. Thoughts?
Amazing thank you. In short YT is hard but worth it. In the begining it takes a huge amount of effort just to keep creating, but after time you listen to what people enjoy in the comments and keep doing that.
@@ItsJonnyKeeley thanks for giving this feed back❣️ I like how you think, throw it out there and see what sticks❣️📸🎶 curious, when you started on YT, Did you have an outline or general plan on the management of your channel?
as a Visual Artist, I'm interested in your point of view as a Photographer. There are tons of other people giving tips and showing how to gain followers and things like that, usually targeting a very generic audience, but you have a very different approach. Thanks so much for your excellent content !
I enjoy travel photography video but what brought me here was Instagram tips! so I must say Instagram but I also want to watch the photography ones for bringing some new skills into me.
But you can still give good quality and search for more followers, i understand your point which makes sense. One has to deliver and please their earlier followers and not lose track of what their purpose is, the problem is most people need a larger following especially if you're trying to make an income from instagram etc. 2000 followers for 5 years won't give you a decent income every month. 500,000 followers will attract bigger brands which means more cash.
I really appreciate this video! Even though my passion is youtube- it still applies. It let’s me know that I’m exactly where Im suppose to be. The level of happiness, creativity, motivation, gratitude, etc that I feel has never changed since my 1st subbie. Ps: my mom Thank you! ☺️✌🏼
Hi Jonny, hope you see this. Love your videos about IG. I think those are what make you stand out from others. Gear reviews are getting boring - DPReview TV's struggle is real, and you might not want to be in their shoes. Photography tips are nice, but only for so long, and for that niche group of beginners. It makes more sense to offer/create content for Photographers who are pro or pro-ish. Sure, you can drop in a few gear-related videos now and then, to grab new eyeballs, but I think you have something good going on here. Finally, I think there is a clear roadmap of what to avoid - don't be a Chris, Gerald, or Gorden. Don't talk about Photography like it is Art, then sell out to make product videos - and please never ever try to tell people to hold their thoughts in long rambling videos. Your content, pace, is just fine the way it is. Thank you.
Thanks so much for the insight Dennis. There will be cases where I will need to move into the spaces big YTs do just to keep moving forward and make the work financially viable but every step I will keep an eye how it's landing with people like yourself.
@@ItsJonnyKeeley of course you must move forward and keep work financially viable. i fully support that. i think the most obvious way is to grow viewership and subscriber base with the breath and depth of content. It starts with depth (ie. focus) and as you gather more momentum, feel free to expand sideways. ultimately you need to define and progressively redefine who your audiences are. if you want to keep it so focus on the photographic community, then, it can only get so big before it hits saturation point. but if you redefine yourself as helping people develope their presence of social media, your relevance immediately jumps up. at the end of the day, as long as you stay true to yourself, like-minded folks will find you and each other. take care.
Also for me, it's some of the instagram tips that I enjoy but mainly, I like the outdoor photography stuff you do.... I'm always interested to see what people like yourself, come up with. It gives me a sort of inspiration to be better. I especially love the huts and lodges content you do.... Some lovely spots in this great country of ours 👌
i really enjoy your videos, many thanks for all your efforts! in regards to content, love the instagram tips, also gear reviews, and creativity. i'll watch it all! on a side note, it's taken me 5 years to reach 429 followers. FIVE... YEARS. i just post what i shoot, i don't play the follow back game if i'm not interested, i block a lot of accounts that seem spammy. i'm happy with my content.
Thanks the very solid video. My feedback is as follows: your Instagram videos have contained elements all photographers can use. If you concentrated on gear reviews, you might lose my attention, since my interest is in shooting vintage film cameras. Also, RUclips is full to the gills with walkabout videos, so that is less likely to grab me as well. I'm drawn to universally applicable elements, as dull as that sounds, but you usually do a great job with that sort of thing.
Thanks. Probably what I need to hear. My Instagram is mostly made of Taiwanese followers since my wife is Taiwanese and has a popular FB account. Many of my followers are really just her followers. I keep trying to find my own audience but in the end maybe I should just keep doing what I’m doing and making content.
Thanks a lot for the content and tips! I like all your content, both Instagram and the outdoor photography tips! What I like about your content, is the way you share it, really clear and easy to understand! But most important and quoting you, do what you like the most, be yourself, be you! =)
The RUclips feed showed me your videos because of Instagram growth but I like your style, philosophy and aesthetic, so I’d be happy to see more of your different content on my feed :)

@@ItsJonnyKeeley thanks for giving this feed back❣️ I like how you think, throw it out there and see what sticks❣️📸🎶 curious, when you started on YT, Did you have an outline or general plan on the management of your channel?
Instagram videos! Thanks for sharing these valuable insights :)
Thank you Jonny for this wonderful video and message, I like all your content in social media in general.
Thank you Jonny, great advice!
Thanks for watching Craig!
Thank you for this! Been in a slump lately and this was a reminder of why I got onto social media. This video was needed
Loved this one! & you're extremely right!
Thanks buddy!
as a Visual Artist, I'm interested in your point of view as a Photographer. There are tons of other people giving tips and showing how to gain followers and things like that, usually targeting a very generic audience, but you have a very different approach.
Thanks so much for your excellent content !
Thanks David, I'm glad that comes across.
This hit home mate! I like all you content, everything explained well and to the point.
Thanks buddy!
I enjoy travel photography video but what brought me here was Instagram tips! so I must say Instagram but I also want to watch the photography ones for bringing some new skills into me.
Love this man! Needed to hear this. 👊🏼
This was very well said my guy!!
The Insta tips resonated the most with me
But you can still give good quality and search for more followers, i understand your point which makes sense.
Ps: my mom
Thank you! ☺️✌🏼
Awesome information, great examples to understand what we are doing with our Instagram account ...
Glad it was helpful!
That's a very good way to put it, awesome video, everything you said is very useful, it changed my perspective
That's great Sara!
Fantastic advice, thank you!!!
Absolutely brilliant insight.
That's cool, I've got a new Landscapes video dropping on Sunday.

This is really great advice thank you !
This is so good for newbies like me. I’m actually saving this video so that I can keep listening to this whenever that frustration kicks in!❤️
i really enjoy your videos, many thanks for all your efforts! in regards to content, love the instagram tips, also gear reviews, and creativity. i'll watch it all! on a side note, it's taken me 5 years to reach 429 followers. FIVE... YEARS. i just post what i shoot, i don't play the follow back game if i'm not interested, i block a lot of accounts that seem spammy. i'm happy with my content.
Thank you so much for this, I really needed to hear and it really resonated with me
My pleasure!
Perfect Secret to Success
Your tips bro n this video frl helped me out💯
This makes sense.. Thank you ❤️ I love your Instagram tips and your photography especially landscapes 😇
Thank you! I'm glad, new landscapes video dropping on Sunday.
@@ItsJonnyKeeley Thank you ..I will be looking forward to it 😇
I think you have the most healthy view on this Insa think. Grate content 🤙🏻
Exactly what I needed to hear right now.. Thank you 😊🙏
Thanks for watching Isha
Thanks Jonny. Like everyone else, this hits home.
I'm super glad Victor.
Great video, thanks for sharing this
Oh my God, you just illuminated me, thank you so much 🤝
Thanks the very solid video.
For sure Steve, keep your eye on what people enjoy and do more of it. (as long as that's what you want)
Thanks a lot for the content and tips! I like all your content, both Instagram and the outdoor photography tips! What I like about your content, is the way you share it, really clear and easy to understand! But most important and quoting you, do what you like the most, be yourself, be you! =)
Loved the video, Jonny. I subscribed to your channel a few months ago for your Instagram tips and creativity. :-)
Thank you 🙏
