Possibly your most important video to date. We've spoken at length about this too. I'm in that place, go down a route for huge views and vacant followers or stay my course and further benefit my loyal followers.
Even though I knew this in the back of my mind, this was a really good reminder to really start doing content that I can repeat. I once hit a jackpot but what happened after was exactly what you said.... Great video Jonny!
I actually went viral last week on twitter but I hope that because the content was just my regular, run of the mill stuff (art), the new followers will stick around and engage.
You're right in every word you have saying and I also try to be engaged with my followers but it still going to slow but I will keep trying until the it happened
Great explanation for the current programming of how the owners of platforms want then to run...... also another great way is i believe that people can't know if they'd like something or not if it isn't being showed to them 😢
I’ve gained a lot of followers through reels. These followers follow a couple thousand people (sometimes up to 6k people). I don’t feel like most of them see my stuff. I don’t get a lot of comments on my posts. I feel like going viral isn’t really worth it, is it? Has anyone any tips on how to get real engagement? (For context, I’m a character artist and post stuff about my comic and sometimes fan art) As an introvert, I feel like it’s really hard to connect with my followers. How do I get them to really interact and not just like my content, without changing what I draw?
Talking about your process and inviting questions can be a good way to start. It can feel cold to start with but as soon as you get comfortable with it, it starts to feel more natural.
I'm old so this makes me think of Newspapers. The front page splash -vs- 'Your' news delivered by the paperboy. The splash is what makes even your Nan pick up today's edition of a tabloid - and you'll never hear the end of it about her shock at the half naked girl on the 3rd page. 'Your' news, on the other hand - well you'll wonder about the paperboy if the paper isn't on the doormat in the morning.
Thanks for this. Our account had the extreme version of what you described getting 98 million views with one reel on Instagram. The result was 100k followers within 30 days and completely changed the audience on the account. We actually just created a RUclips video on this exact topic and agree wholeheartedly with what you said. There are definitely negative consequences much like how there are negative consequences after winning the lottery. Thanks again for your insight.
I noticed you have leaned away from the Landscape Photography content, in fact, removed it all together. Would love to see a video behind this decision, the impact the two types of content were having on your channel. Stuff like that fascinates me.
Hey Andy, I’m still making it. It’s all just being uploaded to a different channel. Unfortunately it just doesn’t get views on this channel. It’s crazy that a channel with 1.5k subs gets more views than this one. Audience fit is THAT important. youtube.com/@JonnyKeeleyPhoto?si=uj_5KTYcUZUrVyce
Potentially when posting both styles of content on here confused RUclips on who to push your content too. I feel now the Photography content is gone, there is a more clear defined audience for the channel.
Thanks for this incredible advice! I had lower views lately as I focused more on not viral trends but had way bigger comments engagement and building connections. Both have mixed feelings due to the lower reach. But 2k views and 30 relevant comments is better than 50k vies and 2 comments! Right?
this is the truest thing anyone has said about social media in awhile.
Thanks mate, I’m glad it came across that way.

Thanks man, I think everyone must’ve dealt with this at some point.
Impressed by the way you communicate…it’s like seeing a light at the end of a tunnel! … and a very nice background.
Love this Jonny. The description about the lottery win. I hate when clients say "we need a viral video"...
Right! Maybe in 2010.
Even though I knew this in the back of my mind, this was a really good reminder to really start doing content that I can repeat. I once hit a jackpot but what happened after was exactly what you said.... Great video Jonny!
Loved the delivery and appreciate you taking the time to make this video. It’s an important message that definitely resonated with me.
Thanks mate I’m glad.
Thank you for making this video and sharing this! I never thought about it, but makes complete sense.
This is great!! Basically, be yourself and share about what you love and the results will follow. "If you build it, they will come" 😁
I actually went viral last week on twitter but I hope that because the content was just my regular, run of the mill stuff (art), the new followers will stick around and engage.
Solid advice and messaging. Keep up the awesome work mate.
You sound so down on the earth. Your advise sound so genuine and resonate with me.

Nice analogy Justin.

I've been experimenting for a while so it may take a long time to build momentum again.
Interesting. I think you may well be right.
Dude you are the first person i that has let me understand this without wanting to stab myself with a spork. I dont have to be a fake asshole.
Am stuck in instagram niche what to choose
Any suggestion pls??
