That’s insane results. Never would have expected. The incendiary compound must somehow blow just enough of the ceramic out of the way allowing the core to pass through. 🤷♂️
Yeah there was another video of these rounds on steel and it had less spectacular results comparatively. They suggested it was designed as a spotter and to pierce armor but not be anti material.
Would it be possible to do a gel test on these rounds? I'm wondering especially if the AP version will function like m855a1, but the API would be interesting too.
I really think modern bullet tech has made a lot of calibers solid choices again. This is especially evident in the pistol calibers. The .38 was never that great of a round but with loadings like the Speer Gold dot with the short barrel powder loadings, it makes a round like the .38 a really solid choice. The same can be said for the 9mm. Twenty years ago the 9mm looked to be on its way out in favor of .40 and .357 Sig offerings. Now the 9mm is the go to choice for a self defense pistol round. When it comes to rifle rounds I am really impressed with all the development with the 5.56 round. Lots of great loadings that really increase the performance of the little 5.56.
7.62x54R is a beast of a round. I would love to see an EPR or some other high penetration round modernization of it. It would be awesome to get an main battle rifle version of 7.62x54R instead of NATO. It would make penetrating armor so much better.
Those b32s look like reloads, the b32 api I have is brass cased with a headstamp of 17 over 51. I pulled one because I didn't hear any powder shaking around but turns out they are filled to the brim of the case
A lot of the B32 ammo is reloaded. They used to sell it at machine gun shoots, and to me they often seem pretty downloaded when compared to the military loaded stuff and my own hand loads.
I have some Chinese B32 that's brass cased with a 17 over 53 head stamp. My Russian B32 is steel case/copper washed case's. Can't remember the head stamp on them off hand though. I know the Chinese stuff went clean through a 3/8 ar500 plate at 50yds out my 91/30
It seems like the alumina plates can be a little tougher and take multi hits better, but they are seemingly usually thicker too. Certainly much heavier. There’s always a compromise somewhere when you are talking about armor. that goes for the fancy and expensive light weight stuff too. Lots of great plates on the market these days.
@@hansgruber9685 Yes, I noticed that the silica and boron plates are a bit thinner. Personally, I don't really care about the weight savings. The more armor I have between the bullet and me the better! The same goes for regular AR 500 plates and their slightly thinner styles.
It would be hard to judge without making 3 identical plates and just swapping out the Alumina for B4C and SiC. It seems to me on average Alumina is thicker and handles multi hits better.
@6:00 Man, I would have bet those 2 rounds penned with that 29in but they didn't. They definitely are just a hair from penning. The deformation is huge on those comparatively. I bet if that round broke 3000fps it would penetrate. It looks like just 50 fps more it would penetrate! Hot load that to get 3000 or 3100 and I would bet that goes straight through!
Obviously if the api penned out the 20in wtf didn't it pen out the 29in but more then just 50fps more. 50fps is nothing. Each round can be over or under by more then 100fps...
There’s a informal test that claimed that two center shots of 308 M80 out of a 16.5” barrel spaced about 1-2” apart penetrated the LAPG plates cleanly. I would proceed with further ammo testing using LAPG/Botach…etc rebrand plates as a constant, with precaution in the future assuming the testing was legitimate and fair.
I saw that on Reddit today. I have quite a few LAPG plates that I continue to use for random testing like this. I'll be honest, the easiest way to defeat ceramic plates is close proximity hits.
Can you hot load these? I would love to see what a hot load could do with 3000fps. That might make them penetrate even level 4 plates. Making these comments as I watch so they might be semi dumb in 5 minutes haha

The anime? 🤔
I've heard it's good, but I haven't seen it myself.
7.62x54r is no joke even the basic mild steel stuff is nasty
Buffman range really delves into the details re: material composition of bullets. Thanks Buffman!
You are very welcome!
The results of the 29” surprised me for sure! Thanks for the “good good” as always!
Curiosity has bitten me, and I have to ask: could M993 AP fit in .300 win mag cases?
There may or may not be a case in my testing ammo box labeled #holygrail :D. Yes both are .308 caliber bullets.
I'll be damned impressed if anything is capable of stopping those
Trust me, i know a guy that did this with his and *chefs kiss* it was awesome
I have been watching these armor tests for years, and I was shocked by the results.
Thanks for the years of company!

It takes all my self control to not buy a few hundred rounds of the API.
There's 926 boxes at least according to Denver's inventory counter. That's a little over 18000 rounds of that, and 33K of the AP!
Surrender your self the the sweet, hot penetrations that the big hot russian 7.62x54r that military surplus ammo offers😏😏😏

Where do you find it?

Blunt damage would be devstating though....owww!!!
At the very least cracked ribs and bruised lungs I am guessing cause I fortunately haven't wore such a vest and been shot.
Very nice. Surprised the SBR API out of the 29in didn't go through.
You and me both!
Would it be possible to do a gel test on these rounds? I'm wondering especially if the AP version will function like m855a1, but the API would be interesting too.
It would be interesting. Bare and then maybe an 1/8" thick piece of some steel to set of the incendiary mix?
Honestly, your channel is so underrated that it hurts. And I like your collection of cool T-shirts :D
Thank you !
Anyone know if the PSA Rock will work with a flux brace? That's my idea for the AR7 type lightweight survival kit role.
Not sure! I've been telling everyone to go tell them to be kind and send me one :D
@@BuffRANGE sure, but share the means of destruction, comrade. Some of don't even have one quarter bore pistol.
Wow that’s very interesting! SBR also made an API of very similar design in 50 BMG which I believe was tested by Ukraine a few years ago.
Thanks for the info

Just here because I found some Czech Silver Tip boxes in my ammo cans from 20 years ago that I bought as regular surplus x54R.
Look at it this way, the API did its job.
I know it sounds crazy, but it would be cool to hear. A fly by a shot probably would sound crazy

That GDSB is a GREAT load for snubbies. I clocked it going 835 out of a 2” LCR. That’s pretty much ideal for a lot of situations.

I watched this video and the chopping block so much, and coming back,,
When I started this video, for ten seconds I wondered where the other guy was.
You say they came back online, does that insinuate they were taken off-line? If so why and how did they “come back online “ ?
For awhile they would only take phone orders.
OOOhh really like this B!!! I love the in depth analysis of the steel cores with Hrc readings thanks bro :-)))
It shows on Denver bullets that the AP round you showed is tungsten core?
They either got some new stuff or didn’t check it. This one is steel
That's a damn good plate.
Excellent. Gives firearm make, model. Velocity, detailed ammo description. Great video

Is alumina compound ceramic better or less effective than the silica or boron ceramic? Or is it just the weight difference??
