      Late reply, apologies. Besides reading the Airplane Flying Handbook and watching videos from aviation resources, I'd suggest finding a different instructor for that maneuver or more.

    Has there ever been a time that your luggage was lost that happened to a friend of mine and she ended up having to wear her pilot uniform the whole trip ?

      No, but I've heard some horror stories about luggage getting taken. My husbands got taken out of the cabin by a passenger, but he noticed it and was able to run after them.

    I live in CO and want to become an airline pilot with a regional that flies in the sky out west... I have my PP, IFR, and Commercial from my local mom and pop flight school, but am trying to decided if its worth it to stay there and instruct or go to a school like ATP. In your experience, and those you work with, does the background at ATP hold any extra value, or as long as you have the hours and ratings it doesn't matter where you get them? In addition, is it worth it to join programs like ATP to be eligible for airline cadet programs? Thanks for your insight!

    • @ReyVolare
      @ReyVolare  3 года назад

      Hey, Taylor. Thanks for your questions! In my experience, I don't think WHERE you got your experience matters much if at all to the airlines. The experience is what counts alongside your personality, character, and decision making skills. I think the cadet programs provide a small benefit, but only really in employee seniority for traveling. Your pilot seniority will be how your pay scale and domicile seniority are calculated. I think if you could get the experience required at your mom and pop school in the time frame you want, it's worth it. I know instructing at ATP in my time went really quick and you could get to the airlines fairly quickly. That would be one incentive, but they're not known for being the best pay. I am not updated on their pay scales now though.

    Pertaining to tattoos and sleeves what are the rules for airline pilots as far as what can they have showing?

      She talked about her tattoos in the last video. Basically if you can cover it with your work shirt it’s fine but you will have to wear long sleeve shirts if you have tattoos lower on your arms.

    I want to thank you for making these videos about your experience in the aviation field. I have been watching your videos for the past year and a half and have often found myself watching your videos for motivation in between brutal study sessions. When you talk about your struggles and how you felt during training, I can very much relate and it makes me feel like I'm not alone out here. I have been through or at least experienced a little bit of each route including ATP, college, and independent flight schools. It's really helpful to hear about your opinions and advice to other aspiring pilots including the lifestyle of an airline pilot. I just wanted to thank you and say you are an inspiration to me and other women in this field!

    Rachel great tips! Let me add to the one if I may....as a check airman at my company where we do Type Ratings and ATPs....I see so many pilots cram night before and then they are not as sharp because they’re tired! If you don’t know it because you didn’t study earlier, you probably won’t that day. Also, if your brain is tired you won’t answer questions during the oral part. Let alone fly the aircraft or Sim for the ride!
    Study early and get a good nights rest before!

    • @ReyVolare
      @ReyVolare  3 года назад +2

      Couldn't agree more! It's hard to draw that line between needing to stop studying to sleep and cram because you want to fill your brain up more. It's a wash at some point because you won't be able to recall the information anyway if you're fatigued.

    Great series Rachael. I am a PPL in airplane and rotorcraft. Looking back to my training I remember trying to get the landing visual down to know when to flare my 172. In the type of jet you fly is the flare a visual indicator or something else. How do you know when to flare your jet on landing? Thx

    • @ReyVolare
      @ReyVolare  3 года назад

      It's very much the same as when I flew the Cessna 172. It's a sight picture. We do get verbal callouts for the altitude above the field elevation as a good heads up.

    Thanks for answering my questions in-depth. Really helps me a lot with what to expect in the future. By the way, a frozen ATPL is how my program allows us to obtain an ATPL without first having 2000 hours by ensuring we're trained specifically in ways that can match the experience of older ATPL pilots. I think it's only a Canadian thing...

    Heyy Queen!!!! Yasss you hit the nail. Long distance only test how geniune both partners are. If you really love someone (no other individual has access to your intimacy), you wont cheat. It can work. There are many married international flight attendants with children.
    The majors require a bachelors degree but ive heard there is a slight chance of getting to american airlines through the subsidary flow through programs without one but its highly risky and the chace is limited!

    • @ReyVolare
      @ReyVolare  3 года назад +1

      The bachelors degree is definitely preferred, but most all of the airlines don't actually require it. The need for pilots and understanding that a degree doesn't dictate your skill in being a professional pilot seems to be what they're all gravitating to.

    Good advice on studying for check rides. When you get to an airline, they schedule your oral and check-ride. No rescheduling because you are not ready or need more study time.
    Until you get to the airlines YOU are the customer. You are paying so if you get lazy, the cost is on YOU. If that does not motivate people, hope may be lost when they get to the airlines. At the airlines you are no longer the customer , they are. They are paying you to go through training in which they are paying for. They invest 10's of thousands of $$ on training you. There is help for those working hard,, but the lazy ones do not make it unless they were just born as aviation master minds.

      Our company flies all over the country, but our employee domiciles dictate what regions WE may be operating within on a given trip. Any flights west of Texas are fair game to find me flying these days. Every now and then I may make it out to Chicago, Alabama, Tennessee, etc.
