thanks for your feedback on this and the points raised on this episode, guys. i'm enjoying the constructive criticism and pointers for the future. lots of love! rob
I've been a regular viewer and patreon subscriber for many years and the last few vids have been the first I've waited a few days to watch and I've skipped several podcasts. I hate to harp on it but the low effort pods kinda killed my enthusiasm for the content. I definitely think protecting the brand with less content of higher quality is critical. Loved this pod though. Definitely in the right direction!
The conversation about algorithm is interesting, because that’s exactly how I found the channel originally with the coachella vid, it had no business being suggested to me at all Yet has provided me countless hours of entertainment since
Love the content as always, some of the best vids for me was just you guys being you. Hanging around and fkin about. Old school Leeds videos drinking with banter. The non sense that went down during lockdown was gold. It made me as the viewer feel the most relatable to you guys and the normal day to day grind.
Listen, well done Ben for carrying the podcast for 2024. Absolutely none of the feedback is against him personally. But it was on a downward trajectory for a while there. Glad to hear change is coming, this was a laugh
you're right about four people in the vids, it's just a better dynamic.there's more going on. also the three person poddy is loads better than two. two looks like you're doing your job, three looks like you're just chatting. keep it real boys.
I'm a Scotsman that watches vicariously from Australia, break that trip up by going to Japan first then hopping over to Australia. Still a long trip, my last one was 32 hours. Airport lounges are your saviour, worth every penny.
Crew size is such an interesting point - If I see you guys cover a festival that I don't think I'll be interested in, if there are multiple crew members in the video then I will watch regardless as SOMETHING is bound to happen, whether it's Mary getting lost, Briody being sick or Rob getting lost on the way back to camp. The festival is always second to personalities and people. Another point to make - I wonder if videos with you guys camping tend to perform better than when you're just visitng a day festival. What's actually happening at the festival doesn't matter, the camp dynamic and laughs is what we watch for!
I press play on this podcast the minute I see it. not a fan of political talk or world news stuff but the general banter, love it. Long live the podcast! Also, lots of "haunt" attractions in the u.s. for Halloween 👍🏻
Nashville, New Orleans, DC, Myrtle Beach, Orlando, Atlanta, NYC, Boston travel party who needs the festival if the crews partying and experiencing new places. You can only see Artic Monkeys, Foo Fighters. Metallica, and Iron Maiden so many times.
🙈My 2 cents :- 1. This channel serves like an extension of your main channel. When I got time, I watch it. It ain't easy to please everybody, Ben stepped up the plate to help out. My advice : Quality over Quantity. A lot of posters have been released over the past few weeks, so I'd be more inclined to hear about your thoughts (musically-related) rather than hearing about mundane things. Opinion of the line up/ Location/Go, Maybe or Pass? 2. Video views - Big festivals attract views, but I personally also like Camp Flog Gnaw, WWWY, Lolla Germany because they were fun to watch. Damnation, not so much. Because there's hardly any atmosphere. I guess it depends on how appealing it will be for viewers & the vibes. Taste is subjective. 3. If you guys are sick of repeating the same old festivals, it's time to travel far out to South East Asia. Hotel & food are affordable, plus no crazy tipping culture like in the US. Thailand has lots of things going on. You can build your travel around like The Hangover Crew (haha, not) plus set your sights if there's a major music festival worth checking out. If TPD TV make a video on that, it will be wicked 🔥The viewership in Asia is high, they love to watch people like you. The reason you still have slow subs count, is because you ain't out there yet. THE TIME IS NOW...😅
Been to a festival in Aus 3 days after I arrived there. Was real rough, 40c weather, plus not prepared for it to get freezing later on.. left about 9pm lol. Definitely a tough one.
I’d given up with the pods but this was easy listening, great stuff. Also PLEASE GO TO JAPAN. I’m going in October 2025 and would LOVE to see what you get up to and how.
Hey TPD TV Crew, I've been watching your vids since the first Coachella video got recommended to me on my home page back in 2022. Ive watched close to every video you've posted since, plus gone back and watched the old videos. Whilst I am a really big rock music fan, and loveee festivals, I think what's really kept me watching is the fact that I get a good laugh out of the content every time and I love it. At the start, it really fascinated me to have such an awesome insight into so many different festivals, but I think like Rob said, it is better with a bigger crew because there's just more funny shi going on, so maybe just do the festival stuff when a lot of the crew are up for it. I think you should definitely carry on with the festival vlogs, but try to integrate more travel vlogs, or things like the Wetherspoons challenge or 1975 tour I loved and just random stuff that the average person wouldn't normally get to do. If you guys are sick of the LA heat, try travel to colder climates so that weather isn't an issue. Like you say, Japan would be awesome. Maybe travel to some cheaper parts of the world like SE Asia or Eastern Europe? A weekend in a city like Krakow would be awesome - and wintery vibes so fits the seasonal content! Anyways, please carry on being yourselves because I reckon myself and a lot of others just love knowing there's a good laugh and a tpd vid to look forward to and cheer us up. You guys are our betterhelp 😆 Love from Australia 🦘
Said it again and again...but TPD make themselves seasonal. The moment they stop posting weekly content the hits hit a downward trajectory until weekly content is picked up again. Would love to see you switch to roadtrip / experiences in the winter on a weekly basis. Also, Briody is right, no one wants to watch a summer vlog in the middle of winter, so batch creating content doesn't work, heck if I've already watched a Reading vlog of 2024 before TPD's, I find it somewhat difficult to watch the Reading vlog once TPD release theirs (usually a week after the event) - And that is the video of the year! All love x
@@tomevans1388 absolutely spot on, it's all about the weekly, relevant content. I'd rather watch a short ADITL in winter than a batch processed summer vlog
Great podcast !!! I feel like the episodes w 3 or less are a little less interesting unfortunately. I love all the effort you put into TPDTV and the quality shows bro 😁😁 I also think that the RUclips algorithm sucks! The only reason I know there’s a new episode is bc I follow yall on socials. So maybe push socials more?
Tbf I've been enjoying the weekly catch up with Ben... Granted its not your core audience content but sometimes it's just being there and having a chat about sh!t
Gaming channel possibly? I’d watch tpdtv crew play GTA 6, or drunk trying to play non serious couch coop party games like overcooked/nintendo Wii/ ps2 Eye Play for example
For me, I didn't watch the Damnation video. I dunno how to explain it, I know you're a festival channel but I feel like I might be a bit burnt out on watching festival content for this year (even typing that sentence sounds daft but it's the only way I can explain it) and a festival where it's that sort of music doesn't interest me at all, which is probably more of a me thing than a content issue. Flognaw I watched the vid and there was nothing wrong with the content itself but I didn't feel I was engaged as I have been with previous vids. I think it genuinely might be just a volume of festival content issue rather than what you're doing as a group. For me and it probably is just me I'd have liked to have seen the footage of you being in Universal for the day, as it would have been something completely different. Hope this makes sense and isn't just a ramble
Ill be honest the last few podcasts seemed a bit lacking, i felt Bens frustration at not being able to get 3+ people on, with 2 it seemed to be more of a pressured conversation, 3 people feel a bit livelier. Id love to see more different days out on the channel, ghost hunting/Halloween would be funny, or a tour of the smaller uk theme parks, Butlins even 😂 Ive been watching this race across europe thing, where teams compete to reach a destination not using airplanes, that could be fun with a Benicassim or similar. I also agree with the comment above that an Asia or Australia tour would be an adventure, but i can imagine thats a whole headache to plan even who would go. Overall i love both channels, thank you guys for putting the effort in ❤
Not really related to the podcast at all, but would love to see you guys attend one of the bigger rock/metal festivals in the US next year! Some DWP ones mainly, like "Welcome to rockville", "sonic temple" or "aftershock". They are always 4 days of music, some of them have camping. I think they'd be some solid content, especially considering no one has made a in depth vlog of these festivals.
Yeah lads I think the festivals are getting tedious, they’re all kind of the same but with different music (excluding the triple A Glastonbury, Burning Man, festivals). Getting a bit boring. The random travel vlogs and the challenges are way more interesting.
Rob I can tell you now when you start to do these videos just for views it will be the downfall of this channel. I think you should just be doing stuff that the whole group thinks would be interesting. Also why don't you start to pivot into just doing travel videos etc, people don't watch for the festival people are watching for the group dynamic
lmao so basically i (rob) got home from my trip to see a nice big picture of donald trump front and centre on the channel... so i did some sensible damage control. just not a good look. if you wanna hear the original pod, it's unchanged on audio platforms.
Damnations the first video of yours I haven't even tried to watch in at least 5 years, as the only ones I've failed to finish in that time have all been metal fests. They make awful vids unless you are massively into the music simply as there's so little going on as sideshows (I'm not into modern hip hop either, but Flog Gnaw was an ace vid for all the games and prize collecting alone!) and the lineup/attendees both struggle to accept anyone or anything remotely diverse.
Nobody asked but I've said this in the comments of the last few videos and I say it with the most love, slam dunk and tramlines for the 7th year in a row is getting tired. I know you're a festival channel and its hard to coordinate, but less festivals and experimenting with some sidemen style content that sees a collaborative structure (like pub crawl monopoly and the chicken shop) might futureproof the channel. Also regarding Damnation - I didn't watch that video because even though the festival is new, the perspective never changes. Most of that isn't your fault though, because at the end of the day a festival is a festival imo and there's only so many ways you can use the TPD magic to manipulate that.
Need to do a northern lads do a southern tour of England Road trip or something rather then wales on a road trip this weekend lol. Bristol and towns u lot have never been before
You really need to big up content before you put it out in the off season.Things like Halloween mazes/scare fears,Christmas themed events, as long as they are events themed and not like the con Willy wonker one, with a few tables and terrible photo ops. You need a cool boarders reference and cool runnings, saying “ we are a Yorkshire bobsled team”. You need cultural references that your age group gets.as I am sure you find out your age demographic for your RUclips analytics. You also need good tag lines that get people to click on videos, “Snows beer and fears of the unknown” your tagline for Rise festival and you should go and see acts that you normal wouldn’t and that’s your point of making the video and your experience more interesting.
Having BOOMTOWN in the Beatherder title probably helped massively, and Damnation is so incredibly niche that a lower view ship for it is expected despite having many many loyal fans. Additionally, why is there so much focus on the squad for an event/video particularly from Rob? Always seems such a contrast of enjoyment from the video and then talking (moaning) about it all after, why not shine a light on it in the video?
To save travel and cash do some videos of local places not much content on North UK. When in the States vet some potentials and bring an American or two who can take a joke and give jokes would create a funny dinamic, you guys are music people why not do album reviews and local show promo/coverage. Maybe some guest interviewers now that youve blown up to get a dialog with them.
People who are into chug peck music aren't particularly known for their enthusiasm. Plus, one day festivals aren't festivals in my book. Maybe these add to whatever the reasons were as to why Damnation didn't land as well as you'd hoped. Maybe not. Dunno!
I love your material, especially to say I'm quite a bit older than you lads, but why don't you do more things like you said, like "Road Trips" or like idiot abroad stuff like going to the mardi gras or the Rio Carnival. Anyway, whatever videos you make I'll still watch them regardless. You're all very professional at what you do. All doing your own bits for the channel. Just Google "Worlds craziest places to visit" and do something like that for a change. However you've been doing festivals for years and your numbers have only gone up, so you're doing something right. But yeah, googling "Worlds craziest etc etc" would be class. Keep it up lads (And lass).
If you boys still have the same phone numbers from 2017ish, I think I still have your phone numbers lol Back when you boys would just hand each others numbers out on live stream as a prank hahaha
One bit of feedback: gonna struggle to stay relatable to the average Joe when Robs wearing £525 sunglasses at a festival in LA. The £4 gained back on the ticket price through carnival prizes can go towards the sunglasses 😎 .. so £521 Love you lads. Cheers 👍🏻👍🏻
Never base thoughts around this kinda thing off the top google shopping review! They were significantly less than that. Though not sure why I’m defending myself tho when that’s essentially the same price as like a PS5 which many people have 😅
thanks for your feedback on this and the points raised on this episode, guys. i'm enjoying the constructive criticism and pointers for the future. lots of love! rob
Christmas Swhbb Party livestream please Rob, for us freelancers who are not having a works do.
Love seeing OGs. Your banter isn't forced at all. More please!!
You’ll like the next main channel video then!

THANK YOU!! I KNOW IT WAS JOKES TO YOU AND HES YOUR FRIEND BUT FR, THANK YOU FOR REVIVING THIS CHANNEL🖤🖤🖤
You lads need a weekend in Nashville. You guys would love it for a mini vlog, country tunes, 90s rock bands and hattie B's

that's the point tho init? i acknowledge that in the conversation

This isn’t on Spotify Ben?
Sorry - sorted!
Yeah lads I think the festivals are getting tedious, they’re all kind of the same but with different music (excluding the triple A Glastonbury, Burning Man, festivals). Getting a bit boring. The random travel vlogs and the challenges are way more interesting.
More of that to come mate. Appreciate the insight!!!

@@poddy I’m starting to realise why you’re broke.
Who cares what the cost is of stuff they wear? Get a grip
Work hard, reward yourself! Otherwise, what's the point really.
Rob needs his own channel...
