I loved Feedback back in the day, he was cringe in the most wholesome way. He literally told Stan that he was his father figure, and he was being honest! The guy had no filter and was genuinely a good boy in the body of a man.
I REMEMBER THIS SHOW!!! It was really funny when they did the spelling bee thing and the one guy refused to play because the villain would only accept answers with “bee” in them.
Defuser is absolutely what cops think The Punisher is about
If anyone deserved to win, it was absolutely not him
this was genuinely my favorite show as a kid, I'm aware that its poorly aged and dumb but there's a lot of good memories of watching this with my dad
I unironically believe they should bring this show back. It would probably be really popular.
Have Grant Morrison host this time.
@@PosthumanHeresyOh YESSSS
@@PosthumanHeresywould Grant do it?
@@StudioInkblot Idk, I think they would just based on their whole Supergods thing. I could see Grant taking it seriously.
CGI generated Stan Lee, like how Zordon from power rangers gives missions and chooses rangers
My main reason for remembering this show is that one of the locals they visited was a level in THPS3 and it was the first time I'd seen a Tony Hawk location as it exists irl rather than as a bunch of polygons
I'd say Smokey the Bear has powers based on the fact that he's a bear. If he was a superhero who turned into a bear no one would say he doesn't have powers.
I think there is a Russian bear superhero in Marvel comics.
I fucking LOVED this show as a kid. When Feedback's movie turned out to just be a two second cameo in Megasnake I was DEVASTATED
Same
Same
i watched that whole movie for NOTHING
Watching this was a huge culture shock. So this show also existed in the UK, but it was a kids show and all the contestants were kids. Honestly, it was really wholesome watching this US version. I expected the adults to be less into it, and more embarrassed by the cheesy acting. But they all seem really into it and it's really sweet
I actually met one of the contestants! He was super cool :)
@@mintpalmer Oh nice! Do you remember which one?
@@JustMe-cn5bp I think he was dressed in silver?
By the way, in season 1, one of the "super heroes" turned into a "super villian."
Yes! “Rotiart spelled backwards was Traitor!” That twist shook me as a kid 😂
I actually watched this show when it was airing while I was in Highschool. One of my teammates on the cross country team really liked it, so most of the team watched it so we could all talk about it and make fun of it (in a jovial way) on our 10+ mile runs... We definitely needed lots of topics to keep us busy. Not sure any of us would've watched otherwise, but we made questionable decisions back then, like running 100 miles in a week to get an ugly T-shirt our coach printed up.
Excited to see Scott's commentary on this.
How is this show is not on Disney+. I'd love to drink some beers and binge watch this
Stars Stan Lee but not necessarily produced by Marvel entities
Iirc this was a SyFy production
Disney doesn't own SciFi or Syfy or whatever they're calling it these days. I believe this is owned by NBC Universal.
@kylecarter1599 oh, I'm aware. I was just further contextualizing in a rush so I wasn't thorough with my thought
@@mattiesavannahpahl9934 I didn't even read the replies before I commented lol
I remember watching this show with my mom every week; we kept trying to see if we could guess who'd stick around. It was nonsense, but it was beautiful nonsense.
I remember this show. It was good and hokey as all hell. The idea was to find someone who was more of a good person than a great superhero concept.
I remember there was a girl who's whole power was that she had a cellphone.
I mean, the first step to being a good hero is to be a good person.
Yeah the details of her powers is that she can teleport via cell phone line like for example in a ransom hostage situation she would be like swoops in a cops phone and then she would be there where the criminal is holding the hostage, i think her powers would be more dope and awesome if she brought along the whole police squad with her or even a swat team to surprise the criminals🤔🫡
@@GODi76667 Teleporting Via Cellphone line is an ability that has only gotten better with time!
The guy from Jury duty would win that show now
@@GODi76667 Like Airway?
I... tried out for season 2 of this show...
Learning the Defuser won felt like a shot in the gut
I mean, this is clearly a real show - I see the video. But... there's no way this was a real show.
My goofy ass 10 year old self loved that show and was genuinely surprised they canceled it. Different times.
i’m pretty sure i saw it on tv a few times but that can’t be real
Up there with that one WB American Idol parody show from 2004 where they gaslit people that couldn’t sing into thinking they were great, and during the live finale one of the producers told the audience the finalists were terminally ill people that wanted to win American Idol so they wouldn’t get mad when the truth was revealed to the winner
It used to air on the scifi channel back in the mid 2000s.
Oh it was real. It was dumb and fun and silly. Especially the first season. The first season had some really wholesome moments too.
I remember applying to audition for the first season of the show. I think that TD in the Defuser's zoom call is for Take Down which was his original name.
they should cover Stan Lee's Superhumans, where the flexible guy goes across the world to meet people with REAL SUPER POWERS!
I religiously watched both seasons as a kid and actually met a lot of the contestants at a couple comic conventions over the years!
Parthenon in particular was really nice.
So cool for bringing Emily on! You should do this again with the other Stan Lee reality superhero show.
If I had a nickel for every Stan Lee superhero reality show...
@@jayredd8340you'd have two nickels but it's weird it happened twice
*thumbs up* yes I also enjoy the content of Lady Emily
*spits out drink comically* wait! There's multiple Stan Lee reality shows?!?
Wait, there was TWO?!
I actually was friends with one of the people on the other show!!
soo.... I was super in to season 1, and a fan of Feedback. There was a group of us fans that he, himself was a part of that was known as the "Tech Support". He kept us mostly up to date on the progress and behind the scenes of his post-show activities, and even hosted a contest in collaboration with the crew in charge of the comic, to include a number of us in the comic series.
I remember this show! Specifically I remember the challenge where they had to cross a yard with an aggressive dog while wearing a protective suit (the dog attacked). I think only one of the contestants crossed and she took forever to get through but her persistence won her the challenge
Weirdly surreal to actually see Emily's face on camera. I'm so used to her just being a disembodied voice occasionally accompanied by an illustration.
This was one of the few "reality" shows I enjoyed. This one, and the special effects artists show on Syfy. They were both meant to be the typical reality show, "Enjoy watching people cut each other's throats to get a head!" But the contestants were creatives who like to do cool sh!t. So they'd help each other out. Loved it!
I watched this with my parents and we loved it. It was horrible but fun. Also, a lot of the cast now do the Convention Circuit. So that photo near the end is more than likely The Defuser at a con. I've actually met Feedback, Fat Momma, Lemuria, Parthenon, and Hygena. All of them were really nice people.
That’s amazing
30:05 Pretty sure the TD is short for Takedown
On that Defuser cover I thought he was applauding himself.
Alternate title: Scott and Emily shitting on cops for almost an hour
I worked at a comic shop back then, and we had way too many of those winner comics, we ended up giving them away with any purchase over $10.
I think I watched part of this video on nebula sometime this year. I am glad you mentioned the stuff about curiosity stream just not paying nebula creators because now I cancelled that subscription and just subscribe to nebula now. I never really used curiosity stream anyway if I had the spare $300 USD or $453.77 AUD I would treat myself to the lifetime plan. But I am a poor disabled person who can’t.
Stan Lee almost reach lvl 100, I wish he could have stayed around a little longer. Rest in peace, Mr Stan Lee.
I vividly remember Hyperstrike winning season 2. Even as a kid, something didn't sit right with me and that Defuser (TD). Must have been so disappointed by the results I blocked the idea of his victory out of my mind, like a traumatic memory.
I think there was a British version of this for kids I watched when I was younger, but I’m not sure if it was exactly the same concept. I don’t think Stan Lee was there either.
There was! It was a CBBC show I think!
Anyone remember Stan Lee's other Sci-Fi show, Fangasm? Its hilarious and awesome! Had George Takei and Elvira!❤ Shame that one fan insulted and couldn't recover lol!😂
Oh, How I do remember this insane show !!!! Thanks Scott😊
I do. Or at least I remember Fat Momma and her catchy jingle.
yhe constant shots at defuser was hilarious what a fun video cowriter emily is a great guest
Ah I remember this...back when I used to watch Sy-Fi more....anybody else remember the WEIRD ass show they had that pitted 'modern' living vs 'caveman' living? There was a glass wall that separated the two teams so they could look at each other, once side lived in what looked like a cave and had to 'live' primitively while the other side had a modern house. IIRC certain events would allow the people living in the cave to move to the house while other's would punish one of the modern house members to live in the cave. There were challenges and it was one of those shows where members would lose members of their team at certain points due to not having enough points or something....I remember the general idea but not the specifics as I can't remember the name of it to save my life lol.
I remember really being unto this show as a small child
I remember this show a very long time ago.
I would guess that the (TD) stands for "Takedown".
19:17 lol as soon as i heard that person's superhero name I was fully expecting that to happen
My favorite part of this show was a competition where they secretly included a lost child. It was the lost dog moment all over again, but several heroes helped her, and it was really sweet.
I went as far as to talk one of my professors into helping me film an audition for season 2 never sent it in because I really hated the idea of being forced to have a secret identity for my character
sometimes I remember this show and question if I made it up or not. glad somebody has validated my memory of it lol
I love the references in this video
I remember being vaguely aware that this existed, but being unable to watch for whatever reason. Fun video!
My favorite was during the quickchange challenge one guy just lays down next to a curb in tbe middle of the street like bro thats not good enough
31:08 That guy pulled a Ted Bundy having a total stranger help him put a package or something into his vehicle.
I haven't watched the video or the reality show, but the time I met Stan Lee was at the release party for Season 2.
I managed to find the Feedback one-shot like a decade ago. I hope I still have it, it could be worth dozens of cents now
I used to catch every episode of this show as a kid.
8:14 come on scott, we all know by comic-book naming conventions, your superhero name would be 'THE NICE-WONDER!' we don't even need to read between the panels for that!
When my family and I went on our only vacation to this day, I ended up watching this show on tv most of the time. lol
Going only from memory for the first season, the final 3 got to do the body scan and get made into an action figure just for them to have. Having never seen the second season, I am not sure if the winner got a few of them made for sale or not.
I remember season 1 from like 15 ago. I never new there was a season 2.
I have such good memories of watching the show with my Dad back when I was in my 20's. I actually bought both seasons a few years back. It's a fun and breezy watch honestly.
Funny thing is that the first challenge with the water... I would have done it with my back toward the water.
And that’s how curiosity stream lost a few thousand subscribers. Mine wasn’t due to re up until the 24th, but merry Christmas to nebula, because I’ve switched it up.
I genuinely loved this show, it was dumb and silly in the best ways.
I remember it was fun watch
I actually have both the first and second season on some dvds that I ripped off my DVR... somewhere in storage. I enjoyed this series so much back then. I still feel they did Matthew Atherton a dis-service with how Feedback was treated and portrayed. With proper licensing, Feedback could have been a legitimate comic book superhero, especially with how popular Darkhorse was becoming in 2006-08.
if a Hero loses the contest do they become the villain of the next Arc? now I want Alan Moore to write the downfall of Feedback.
I watched the first season of this show-as an adult. It just made me smile. The contestants just seemed so gosh darned committed! High silliness. 😂
The defuser has definitely murdered people
If you ever want to go into this show more, I should say: I have the second season on my iPod which I'd gotten off iTunes, so it should be the best quality you could have gotten at the time. For the first season, I have lower quality files, not from an official source. Now, when it comes to the BBC version, with children as the contestants, I have no idea how to watch that. I couldn't back in the day, nor now.
Also, season 1 was definitely better. Major Victory was by far the best contestant on the show.
Oh, I remember this show! I actually bought an autographed copy of the Season 2 DVD set from some of the contestants themselves at San Diego Comic Con the year the show came out; they had a table with The Defuser, Hygena, and Ms. Limelight in costume right near the front selling the DVDs and giving autographs, it was a neat experience.
(Hygena, Hyper-Strike, and Parthenon got _robbed_ IMO; any one of them would have been a _way_ better season winner than who we actually got. :-( Give me a full Hygena comic run, darn it!)
I want you to do a review episode by episode! Id love that! Bring your wife and or other guests if you like, but id hardcore watch yall have a good time reviewing
They used to play this show on the Sci Fi Channell.
Reality tv like this makes me sad for some reason
Lady Emily!! Omg I love her channel x
Yes I remember Stan Lee's goofy reality show I used to LOVE this show as a kid!
Stan: hey! You can't be in here!
And with that I'm glad Stan never had more than a cameo in basically any movie cause that line read...hoo boy...
When Emily said she only likes Batman, I felt so seen.
44:21 What the Heck is a Peace Song?
There was a kids version of this on UK tv when I was a kid loved it
I actually got to meet Fat Mama and Major Victory at Gen Con one year. I was volunteering in the kids room, and they came in to hang out with the kids. Probably some of the nicest people you could ever meet!
Smokey Bear doesn't have a middle name.
I'm rooting for the cop to lose.
Me who saw all the second season back when Sci-Fi had a marathon: yeah about that....
Once upon a time i had that cruddy Feedback comic. What a time to be alive 😂
Why does this remind me of Mystery Men (1999) movie btw total recommend to watch, this also is where i 1st heard Smash Mouth's All star music before shrek did.
I seriously wish they'd bring this show back. It was so goofy and fun! Feedback was such a great concept for a hero. I wonder whatever happened to that guy or any of these people really?
Oh, right, I did watch this months ago on Nebula!
Gods, I remember this show.
i really loved the version of this that Saw did for two movies as well
I watched this show after buying the whole first season in Apple and I watched it on my iPod video in middle school. The 2000’s were so weird.
Oh yeah I forgot to recommend this since your last video, but if you still have that GBA, I can recommend both Golden Sun games for that system.
The millionaire literally has all he needs to be Batman he doesn't need the show. He could just donit.
And here i was expecting stan lee's superhumans! Real two nickels moment, huh
So I absolutely loved this show as a kid!! I watched it with my dad!
The Defuser should be just Stryker from Mortal Kombat.
POLICE BRUTALITY COMING UP
Also, I doubt ill be seen, but I'd be down to see yall react more to this
Why you didn't mention that Marvel's Stan Lee is publishing this comics with the Dark Horse label? Maybe he didn't want to taint his company?
I swear to god no one talks about this show I was so into this a couple years ago, I hope one day it comes back even though there's no one in comics as well known as Stan Lee who could host it.
I am so glad other people know that this exists because it always sounded like a fever dream. It was crazy. The most outrageous is that one girl got kicked off the show because she tells people how she got onto the show. Just straight up booted. I remember seeing that and being like "But why, literally all these people did the same thing, she's just telling someone how she did it aka helping someone to maybe achieve their goals like a hero would." It melted my brain. Adding: I also remember the show constantly saying the winner would get their own comic and SciFi original movie so I can understand why the contestants were confused because they literally said it every episode and I was like "whatever happened to that movie?"
I had no idea this was a thing lol
I loved that show so much
So I’m here because I remember distinctly the first season and followed along religiously. Never knew if they did more but I had fun with the first.
Everyone say it with me, "...AND WHO WOULD WANNA PEG MR. MITZVAH"
