I would put a greater emphasis on working on the craft of filmmaking including storytelling. Have you gotten coverage for your scripts? Do you understand how to write a tight enough script that you can build onto? Yes, you should work on directing but if you want to be a writer/director you also need to work on your craft and defining what your style is.

You're right, and that's what a lot of this year is about: learning the craft through a project. My goal is to join writing classes & enter/submit to competitions, I've bought a bunch of books specifically on writing, I'm volunteering my time to short films in any role I can get just for the experience as well as networking opportunity, and through mini projects I can work on over the year develop my style as a filmmaker.
While sure, there's the aspect of cutting edge tech I want to delve into; that's not really the overarching goal of what to take from this year. It is, however, much easier to make videos about those things when I've spent a 10+ year career doing them haha
There'll be videos about tech for sure, but I do plan to mix that in with theory and reflective content about the journey of making a film in every regard.

Writing is what I do best. Let me know if you need any help in crafting the perfect screenplay or if you just want to talk about scripts in general. The whole Covid thing has me at a creative stalemate and I'm trying to break out of it in any way possible.

@@noteem5726 If you have any book or resource suggestions that would be great as I'm always keen to learn more.
I'll probably be looking at doing another pass at the script in a few months time just to refresh myself with it, so I'll probably do a video about that; but always down for discussion. I'm always checking twitter if you have it as it's easier to have a convo than YT comment threads haha
