Thanks for very detailed instructions and well made video. Couldn’t have done it without you. Thanks.
Excellent video.
Really like the part of you using a hammer and chisle to get the impeller off the shaft.
I would have been scared that I would have screwed something else up.
The was a very hard job for me because the nut was frozen on the shaft and I had to grind off the head and had to break off all the plastic parts. But it is an old machine and this is the first time I had problems with it.
I heard that the old machines are better than the newer ones but just make more noise.
Thanks again
Well, it gave me exactly the info I needed for a different but required repair to my friend's very old Inglis dishwasher, which needed a thorough cleaning. Thank you.🙂
Thanks for this great video with good details! I took my washer apart 4 times and didn't get the parts in in the right order until I watched your video. Thanks!
Thanks guys you walked this in mechanical man right through it and it works like a champ.
THANK YOU - thorough and clear. Exactly the information I needed.
Great video. Gave me enough confidence to tackle ours which was making a vibrating noise. Turns out a piece of plastic had worked it's way down by the impeller. Thanks for making it.
Awesome, glad the video helped you out!
Thank you. Your video helped me avoid a service call.
You're welcome! Glad we could save you the service call.
THANK YOU SIR! I don't have to replace the part you did but I am having a devil of a time getting that bolt out that is holding the screen/dome thing! My dishwasher is clogged with so much gunk --I ran it 3 times with ammonia and - nuthin'. I have to get that dome off and clear everything. Watching the video gave me some better ideas on how to hold the black circle in place to make my efforts more successful! I'll gather my arsenal and report back! Hahaha.
You're welcome!
I'm replacing the impeller. The shaft has a few visible dings on it at the edges of the flat sides. will this be a problem? For reference, at approx 4:52 it's recommended to take a file to the shaft to clean off the residue.
Very useful, precise instructions. Thanks
Extremely helpful, thank you!
So glad I found this video - this is my unit exactly (Whirlpool DU915PWPS0) - I would start dismantling per the video, but I have lots of water in the bottom of my unit. How can I drain out the water?
Have you checked for any clogs in the hoses?
@@appliancepartspros Thanks for replying! I finally got around to this: hoses are clear! Water pooled up as my hose drains upwards to disposer and washer broke down in the middle of a wash; I soaked up the water with towels, then I removed the drain pipe underneath washer and emptied the rest to a pan. Well midway dismantling it, I discovered my spring was all bent up - so I'll order the kit from APP and replace the parts. I (and my wife!) look forward to getting my unit running again. Thank you again!
Good video, I liked it. Thank you. The gasket you did not used go where the white balls are.
I have a Kenmore 66515... model and this part looks to be identical - thanks for the video - I also have got the bolt spinning but impeller held problem. I have ordered a kit so will be happy to try to destroy the wash impeller. 😂
I tried to follow the directions on removing the screw while using the wrench to keep the base from spinning, but it didn't work. The black base spun and the wrench basically stripped a bunch of the material (plastic, I guess?) right off. So I not only couldn't get the screw out, I also messed up the black piece surrounding the screw. So frustrating.
I had the same problem. What worked for me is taking a set of vice grips to hold the black piece and took my Dewalt with driver bit to take the screw out. It's still difficult to get to it but the vice grips were able to get a better bite than I could hold with with hand and pliers. In another video I saw from Appliance Parts Pro's they did say that it may need to be chiseled off.
I drilled in a screw to grip with vice grips as the plastic piece was also chewed off the same as yours.
@@chrismartin3072 thanks

Kenmore ultra wash spots out water at the corners after filling, when first starting than runs fine without anymore leaks any suggestions would be great THS.
Can't seem to lift out the part at 2:29. I got the screw out but not the black impeller. Any options if it's stuck?
I saw a demo video where the guy put a screwdriver down the side of the wash impeller and pushed it from different positions all round... guessing a squirt of WD40 might help too?
great vid and how do u cleanin the drain vents i used towels and shop vack
Glad we could help!
I have the exact same model, why does there always some water left at the bottom?
It drains it all but always gets some standing water left.
Mine does it too. Its The reason I watched thia video
I’ve taken all the old parts out as shown on the video, however, the shaft that comes up from the motor does did not turn. Using pliers I got it to turn reasonably well. To see it would continue to turn, I closed the dishwasher door and pushed the cancel/drain button. The dishwasher made a scratch like noise and is back to the shaft not turning -- unless I use pliers. What next?
This was very similar to my issue, it would not turn initially, but after removing the part that was chiseled off (great tip, I nipped it to pieces with pliers) it spun smoothly when I pushed the cancel button. I'm replacing these parts and hoping it continues to work with the parts installed :).
mine is draining out as fast as it fills... the position of the 2 white balls do not make sense to me, i dont see how it stops the water from running down into drain impeller and out the drain. 1 ball seems jammed into the bottom of the casing once you put the cover on, and then drop the ball on top??
Help! I can not remove the impeller part. I got the bolt off and part is tightly fixed there. I have tried prying it up w/no luck. The plastic is getting very stripped from my multiple attempts. Video time 2:11-2:13
I can't get the pump screw to come out, it turns but won't come up.
Probably need to chisel off the wash impeller...
my dishwasher is leaking after performing all of these steps. not sure why but it’s leaking bad and can’t see where from? what could it be?
You will need to determine where the water is coming from. Here is a link to a troubleshooting video that may help you find the issue: ruclips.net/video/KU7898nPXAg/видео.html
i can't for the life of me get the impeller off. any tips for an extra stubborn screw??
+belogtoob I would soak it with penetrating oil and hope it breaks free. You may have to break the impeller out and really soak where the bolt goes into the shaft. If the bolt is so rusted to the motor shaft that it cannot be removed you may have to replace the motor.
AppliancePartsPros
On older dishwashers the torque needed to remove the bolt may be so great that the adjustable wrench slips off the wash impeller hub no matter how tight I make it and no matter how hard I hold it in place. To solve this problem I use a 31/32" shower-valve socket wrench on the wash impeller hub. The wrench is hollow so I can run a 1/4" socket on a an extension rod down through the hollow to get the bolt. Sometimes the torque is so great it seems like the bolt is going to shear off, but those bolts must be made of super tough steel because I've never had one break or be so stuck that I've had to replace the motor. Also, this trick avoids having to drill out the hub of the wash impeller to remove it. If I did that, I would still be left with the problem of holding the motor shaft as I tried to remove the bolt. In that case I would put the wash impeller (with drilled out hub) back on, and now with the filter assembly removed I would have good access to grab the wash-impeller hub with the adjustable wrench. Still, the shower-valve wrench is the better solution because it's never going to slip on the wash-impeller hub.
I should mention that I often have to destroy the drain impeller to get it off, If I did that and still had the bolt stuck in the shaft, I would grab the doubly flatted shaft with an adjustable wrench, but that would risk damaging the shaft, so the shower valve socket wrench is still the better solution.
The nominal size of the hex on the wash impeller looks like 1", so I have to use a little force to get the 31/32" socket down on it, but that's good because then I get a really tight no-slip fit. The next size larger is 1-1/32" and that's a little loose and that could allow it to slip under the huge torque needed to break free the bolt. So 31/32" is better.
My local hardware store has the complete set of 6 shower-valve socket wrenches for $28 and the individual wrenches for $8. The set comes with a cross bar for a handle, but if you buy the single socket, you'll have to use a screwdriver or some such thing as a handle, or you can grab the socket (more accessible than the wash-impeller hub) with an adjustable wrench.
I'm having the same issue I was able to get the screw to turn however it just keeps turning and won't come out.
@@FruitfulEden You are turning the motor to via the shaft... as mentioned above you will probably need to chisel the wash impeller (black part) off to get to the parts underneath?
how do you change the filter on this model?

I can't get the bolt out of the upper impeller....
You can try soaking it with some penetrating oil.
The stack of washers at 4:58 was taken out but not put back when re-assembled. What give?
Thank you for letting us know!
lower drain impeller gasket , do you have it ??????????
You can go to our website and enter your appliance model number to view the parts breakdowns to be sure you get the correct part for your model. www.appliancepartspros.com/
Where is the filter on this dishwasher?
What is the model number of your dishwasher?
Thanks
You are welcome!
How do we know this is why the dishwasher is not draining and not the actual Pump that has gone bad??
You will need to do some testing to determine what part has failed. What is your model number?
Kenmore
We will need the model number of your appliance to look up any specific troubleshooting information.
