Someone has already done it. Saw it on NTD China in Focus, the Strange Fire also attacks palm trees, and many countries have had it happen. Iranian are taking bets where it hits next. Heavens Lightning consuming those that have lost faith?
The most plausible explanation I have seen, is that a nearby oil seep opened up after an earthquake and the liquid natural-gas condensate flowed into the valley. Imagine 100 LPG trucks dumping their cargo during a cool night. It flows downhill until it finds a candle inside the towns. Afterwards there is a very localized destruction without any obvious cause, like raiders.
*@JoergSprave* 7:10 What if you drill a conical hole at the end of the bolt, with the same conical angle as the bolt tip? Can that make the arrows "slot into" each other & behave more like a solid arrow when fired? AND, will they separate in mid flight or stay attached? (might need high speed camera for seeing that?)
Interesting concept. One thing you could test is if it is possible to shoot multiple arrows without the instant legolas. It seems if you make (from wood) a weak enclosing for the arrows that is NOT aerodynamic it might be possible to hold 3-5 bolts and appear as normal arrow. The forces should then disintegrate the enclosing leaving separate bolts to spread. If that works, it might be possible to use unmodified instant legolas with modified arrows. In any case, it seems bolts/arrow design is as important as the bow design :)
This was a very cool video Joerg. It covered history (well..at least mythology), answering a scholarly inquiry to determine if a weapon made of period correct materials could be made matching the requirements of the mythical weapon, and application of experience, good engineering, and curiousity. Well done!
He should look into rubber powered atlatls which fire fletched spears and javelins and even Swiss arrows. Keep up the good work man, you're an inspiration to history buffs, diy'ers and people who just like watching the destructive capabilities of the human brain!
Joerg, I used to do what is called in the UK "clout shooting". Or in normal words, "shooting at the clouds". We would lay a normal archery target flat on the ground and mark with a stick where it was. You can also tie a cloth to the stick for added guidance. Cut a piece of coloured adhesive tape into a small triangle and stick it on your bow somewhere below the grip. We usually did this at about 100 yds range. Now raise the bow, use the stick for direction and the triangular tape for elevation. If the shot misses move the tape up or down the bow. I hope this helps :)
It's unbelievable for German to use "steps" instead of using metric system. It's like Americans use kilometers instead of miles... Or like English use liters instead of horse bladders.
@@randomargument972 Yes one regular normal step is, but a slightly larger step is a meter and thats how we're taught to easily measure a distance more or less.
Maybe it would be possible to create a reverse tip on the flat end. It would greatly improve the arrows stacking in the "barrel", and prevent them from going all train crash.
A note to add. If you have two objects on end of a line, which is 100m long and both are going 10m/s they will meet in middle after 5s, which results in equivalent of 20m/s. So not only bigger poundage of a bow will add penetrarion but horse moving towards you will add some too. Surelly over a long distance an arrow will go under angle so it won't add up 100% of his speed.
Very interesting experiment. Shows the possibilities solving one issue at a time until success is achieved. Knowing something has been done gives confidence that there is a solution that works, even if your solution is not exactly the same.
I love whenever Jorge had videos based on historical/mythical. Inner of my favorites was the episode on the Roman sling and the mysterious holes drilled into the ammo and what their theoretical purpose was
Joerg, you got a nice Ardeshir there, excellent build. you could have also called it an "Ardi" which is a dimunitive form for Ardeshir :-):-):-):-) Anyway, my native language is Persian aka Farsi. Wanted to let you know that according to the name of the weapon I guess it would shoot five arrows instantly and at once rather than shooting five consecutive arrows. It might have been a technic rather than an actual weapon, but it could also be a different type of bow. Literally "Panj" in Farsi means five, and "Panjeh/Panja" means claws referring to the five fingers of a hand. "Gun/Gan" or "Goon" means similar or lookalike. "Panjagan" literally means claw-like or similar to a claw. The same form of wording also exists in the word zirconium which comes from the persian word "Zargan/Zargoon" which literally means gold-like or fool's gold. Enjoyed your show, keep up the good work.

Лучшая часть твоих видео - ведущий. Невероятно позитивный мужик!)
The best part of your videos is the host. Incredibly positive man!)
If Joerg would have been lived in ancient times, now we will read about him in history books like Archimede or Da Vinci!
"Isn't easy to draw because its 55lbs"
*Draws it with ease because you too swole to control 💪
This was a very cool video Joerg. It covered history (well..at least mythology), answering a scholarly inquiry to determine if a weapon made of period correct materials could be made matching the requirements of the mythical weapon, and application of experience, good engineering, and curiousity. Well done!
One look at thumbnail.... i already can hear his voice..
U know that.. "Hello and welcome to the slingshot channel"
Even by reading that u heard it.
He should look into rubber powered atlatls which fire fletched spears and javelins and even Swiss arrows. Keep up the good work man, you're an inspiration to history buffs, diy'ers and people who just like watching the destructive capabilities of the human brain!
those aren't arrows. They are pencils! :D
I know a lot about bows too, so you can't trick me :3
The persian army: We are well armed, we have wood and metal
Jörg: Laughs in plywood
Ahhh yes I’m commenting on this before it’s over cuz I’m a bit early and I want this guy who is a role model in my life to see this
I love watching your vids very informative n the history is great ...keep making its a pleasure
I enjoyed it's features.
13:12 Haha, I hope we find them.
13:20: So we did not find the arrows.
Lol
That is absolutely amazing very good video and well done
Where were you during the renaissance?
You’re explanations are never boring.
It's unbelievable for German to use "steps" instead of using metric system.
It's like Americans use kilometers instead of miles... Or like English use liters instead of horse bladders.
We use steps because one step is about equal to a meter, so yes it is using the metric system.
@@neophyte1994 1 Step = 0.762 Meter
So its around 3/4 of a meter.....
Not 1step ≠ 1 Meter (as you said)
@@randomargument972 Yes one regular normal step is, but a slightly larger step is a meter and thats how we're taught to easily measure a distance more or less.
Thank you Jörg, my English vocabulary is greater today.
I will start using your new word - "perfectionized" - (@ 16:52)
Sir, please watch indian film bahubali which might give you some idea
Any scene in particular? Links?
Maybe it would be possible to create a reverse tip on the flat end. It would greatly improve the arrows stacking in the "barrel", and prevent them from going all train crash.
Now that my dog has herd you're laugh he barks with a German Accent.
Just a small suggestion maybe you can try using some retroreflective tape on the vanes to make them high visibility.
If you were born 1000 years ago we’d all have deep voices and gorilla arms.

Inner of my favorites was the episode on the Roman sling and the mysterious holes drilled into the ammo and what their theoretical purpose was
You have to respect the amount of work this takes.
Indeed. All the time he spends inventing by thought and then by hand is certainly different in comparison to the usual youtuber.
The dude is strong, crazy smart and has a shit ton od deadly 'toys' at his disposal. Still the nicest dude on RUclips
Jeorg I just want to tell you that you are an amazing person you are very entertaining and I love all of your content stay just as perfect as you are!
Much love from Kenya joerg good work.
I’m getting a 100lb Persian bow will be excited to test it and speed shoot with it
Personally I love that he takes the initiative to explain things
Thanks Joerg talking about our old tech. We use your HK in modern times, though ;-) signed by a Persian.
I'm an Iranian fan. This was really great and you're a freaking genius.
You missed the drone! 😄
These historical investigations are your best work, I still remember the "wistling sling balls"
