How does someone seem so wholesome and nice while showing weaponry
By being passionate.
Wouldn't you like to know, Putin :p
its his Feature, if you didnt know
Because nice people have guns, hunt and target shoot.
Bc he loves what he does and lots of people come here just to see his eccentric personality, not even the weapons.

Your product demo videos are great, Jörg! Normally I tend to avoid promo-type stuff, but I always love watching these because we've seen you design almost all the things you show off from scratch, and the enthusiasm you have for them really shines through when you do. Plus they always work beautifully and kick a buncha ass which never hurts.
Love it! I'm always looking forward for the next great Mr Joerg Sprave's video. 🏹🎯

I think your example of someone wearing a biker jacket would be more suited to the broadhead. The bodkin point, if I'm remembering my medieval archery design correctly, works by cutting 4 flaps into the material so the shaft can push them away like petals rather than punching through with brute force (field/target tip) or trying to slice a straight slit (broadhead). This is mostly useful against a stiffer material like metal, which is more difficult to deform. Leather is essentially still flesh, so any style of tip (as long as it's sharp and has enough energy behind it) will be able to penetrate, but as you showed in the ballistic gelatin, the broadhead cuts a channel for the vanes to follow, so a broadhead would allow for the deepest (and widest and probably most damaging) penetration.
Short version: bodkins would be fine for self/home defense, but broadheads would probably be better unless you're expecting people actually wearing armor.
you got to remember that a lot of biker jackets have hardened plastic plates which the bodkin would tear through and the other tips wouldn't fair very well against them
@@combsmsb I didn't know about the plastic, I thought it was mostly just leather. That makes sense.
@@laser8389 its mostly the higher end jackets. The plastic plates are normally a similar hardness to a helmet plastic. Plus a lot of people don't wear the jackets with the plates, and only stick to thick leather.
The issue with bodkins for home defense is that they don’t cause much damage. The invader will just shoot you with his gun right after you hit him with the bodkins, so you’re dead 💀
@@videogazer801 nah not many intruders in the UK or most European countries have guns, mostly just higher end gangs who would be more interested in robbing corner shops and selling drugs. Most home invaders are crackheads who aren't even expecting anyone to be home so if you come downstairs with a crossbow you'll scare the shit out of them
War and hunting tips were very often the same thing. It really changed when armour came more prominent
Unless you are talking pre-history, armor has always been a thing. As far back as ancient Greece people were wearing armor and carrying great big shields. Even native islanders used to make armor from tree bark and bones. Hunting tips have always been brittle yet sharp starting with flint knapping onward and they are generally easy and fast to make. War tips/ field tips have always been durable and pointy for punching through hard surfaces. Also the shafts of war arrows are usually WAY thicker than hunting arrows to deliver more kinetic force. you 'can' hunt with a war arrow but generally going to war with hunting gear was not effective.
@@HeadCannonPrime I'm talking about arrowheads. Bodnick points have been used for both hunting and war for thousands of years
@mtman2 whoops meant broadheads yea you dont wanna use needle bodkins unless the deer is wearing mail lmao
@mtman2 well obviously unless you're hit in the face or heart
Imagine breaking into this guys house and him saying 'welcome to the slingshot channel' then pulls out his I stand legolas and says we're going to see if a burglar can stop a hunting Broadhead and does his sinister laugh and says 'ahh my poor target'

Learn to set up your bow, get CORRECT draw length, I repeat, correct DL! Learning to set up your ARROW is just as important as the bow. .... it's called "tuning the arrow." Also - "tune the broadhead" if you hunt!! Practice, practice, practice. If you go Traditional vs. Crossbow learn the idiosyncrasies of both. It is a science!!

Jorge is the friend I wish I always had and have never met. What a good man he is.
As I posted on the video you did about upgrading the Stinger, I found a simpler way to improve the cocking lever for those of us without your skills with woodwork, Joerg ;)
25mm aluminium pipe, 3mm thick walls, so very strong but light, cut about 11 inches long, sanded internal end of it, and end of the crossbow lever, epoxy glued the pipe over the lever
so it extends it making the stronger "tuning bow" WAY easier to cock, and, functions as a simple stock! :)
wrapped pipe in black electrical tape to improve grip and lock cooler ;)
added a common 25mm rubber end cap over the end of the pipe, easy to remove, plus you can store spare string or wax etc inside the pipe.
That's very cool! Leverage and storage, good improvements.
@@MonkeyJedi99 thanks! :) yes it is handy ;)
In the trades we call that a torque enhancement device.
@@kleinjahr I've heard it called a "cheater pipe", not to be confused with a "cheater bar".
The first is hollow to fit over the handle of your soon-to-be-broken tool, while the second is a long prying device, often to get a rock or stump out of the ground or separate two objects.
Either can be "reefed on" which will lead to one or more outcomes: successful removal/moving of the recalcitrant object, destroying a perfectly good tool, damaging the larger assembly, falling down, and/or hurting yourself (sometimes badly).
@@MonkeyJedi99 Well, torque enhancement device is for government service, so it costs ten times as much. Almost as good is the applied concussion device for loosening nuts, bolts and fittings.

At 16:13 16:49 17:46 17:52 17:54 and 19:05 there is definitely a lot of flex in the mechanism that holds the blade open. At one point, it looks like the blade is almost 30 degrees out of line with the handle. I think what is happening is when you thrust, you are applying force on the blade in the same direction it closes, thus working against the force of your hand holding the mechanism at the handle closed. Try turning the handle over in your hand, so that the force pushes the blade against the backstop instead of towards the closure.
Overall a nice design, but I think a locking mechanism holding the blade open might be a good idea.
Thanks for getting back to the traditional videos. More slingshot stuff would be great, but I get that it might be hard. The crossbow videos and everything were getting old, so I love that your getting back into the sponsored and non sponsored build videos. Love your videos man.
Who would have thought a guy building slingshots and shooting bows would gain such a huge following? Amazing. Well done sir!
17:44 be careful your hand is too close to the end, and every time you stab, the blade folds in to some degree (also in the end of the vindeo) , that handstopper you talked about is a good idea.
I would add a "second hand" function which locks the blade when the second hand is touching a switch on the upper part of the staff. (a steel tube which rotates/slides for example could do that locking)
This is a replica, the original does not sport a hand guard either. I am not trying to develop a new weapon, just wanted to see if I can replicate the one in the series.
I imagine it totally beautiful inside the barn, when the sunshine falls on it. Through all that holes....
Tod from Tod's Workshop also tested waxed arrows with the same results.
In a combat situation you want every advantage you can get, those extra couple of cm could mean a lot.
Not worth the extra effort for casual hobby shooting ofc, but the wax seems to certainly always have a positive effect.
Switchblade stick seems like a most capable weapon. I'm sure with your engineering expertise you could design a system where it locks in place. Really like the fact it's manufactured from a steel pole as it serves double duty as a blunt weapon :-)
I just ordered the stinger, was a little surprised that there is now a cheaper version... but in the end, I am sure, I would have chosen the metal version anyway 🙂👍 Thanks a lot for such a fast shipping! Should arrive on Monday! 👍 have a nice weekend!

Hallo Joerg. When do we get 150lbs upgdate limbs for Adder? I didn't find hunting arrows for Adder from GoGun online shop.
Just a thought, lock the trigger or the cocking mechanism if the magazine is empty. Possibly with an indicator at the back of the crossbow.
If the mag is empty, the system IS locked. You can't cock the bow anymore.
Awesome as always! If that switch sword is built precisely could sharpening stones installed inside with adjustable spring tension? When the blade is retracted it would sharpen.

It is worth noting, the point (pun intended) of field tips is also to MINIMIZE damage to the target. Archery targets, especially 3D foam ones, can be expensive and you don't want to replace them too often.
Personally I’d make the spear longer but it’s really cool. I could definitely see myself wanting to slide my hands up to get more force into a slash though
Ar 6 crossbow is what i like. Lighter weight is a bonus for when you carry it. Pity the Rx series crossbows bolts are spesific too the models wouldve liked too use a another manufacturer bolts
The way He says "WOR" is just Epic 🤙
It would be nice to see you testing the new Steambow war broadhead arrows
Makes total sense that the bobkin and field tip penetrates the same. As both arrow heads penetrate the full length of the ballistic medium there is nothing differentiating the bobkin from the field tip and all that determines how "deep" they penetrate is the friction against the shaft and the fletching and those are identical for both types of arrows.
Awesome content :)
been watching your videos for a while now, always been impressed. i have one comment on your spear, it looks great but have you thought about a guard for keeping your hand away from the edge of the blade as you close it. i know you said you should not need to worry about that as the other end of the spear is your locking hinge, but there is always "that one time you forget to choke down the handle and..." still love the orc blade.
Hi Joerg, naturally I also prefer the metal version of the steambow stinger. It's a nice little Sportgerät😂🤣
Wish you all the best and stay healthy😁😎
You're such a bloody cool guy mate . Another awesome vid 🤣
Jorg.... I just bought a Rajah ll from Cold Steel in March. Basically a Kukri folding pocket knife. It is beyond awesome. I have several non folding Kukri and they are incredible weapons.
I would love it if you would make a Kukri on a pole. Strong and secure. Something like a Nodachi from Cold Steel. I think they are fierce weapons, unmatched in potential.
Great video. I watched specifically for the spear knife.
The field tip penetrates soft tissue better than the bodkin. I’ve tested this and found it to be consistent.
The bodkin might be better for getting through something like chain mail (validated by your results at 6:43), but once you’re hitting soft target the field tip goes deeper. (hurries to re-install field tips on the bolts that lack broadheads, as intruders rarely wear chain mail nowadays)
Would field tips actually be effective against an intruder at all? (Certainly not as much as a broadhead lol)
That laugh is infectious 😂
@ JoergSprave
Great Job so far, i like your interpretation of that thing.
Might you be able to do something like a liner-lock which is automatically disengaged if you release the action-handle? Or another racheting-mechanism, which can be unlocked by a steel-cable. Basically like a Nut in a Crossbow?
So its locked when extended but still folds in when the Handle is released, so no stability issues when force is applied in closing-direction.

04:24 "lets look at the DÄMÄTSCH!"
18:00 Try adding a ring or something just short of the blade mechanism, to partially act as a makeshift crossguard or something.
Nothing big and fancy, just enough to feel where the mechanism is about to begin, without having to look at the shaft. In combat, you'll have enemies to keep eyes on.

Joerg...What if you put a small free floating weight inside the hollow bolt,of course when it is fired it will be in the back of the bolt but when it hits it will hammer forward driving the bolt deeper maybe...Just a thought...Thanks...From Kentucky USA...Your friend Steve Shoemaker...
For the folding spear, i still think it will be better with some kind of crossguard. And that tools is nice but I still prefer (short) conventional spear that the tip is stable. We can always cover it with some kind of leather or even cardboard as it's scabbard.
Paul Mauser would envy your inventions.
Nice signature laughing mr sling guy...I do love slingshot thats why I made my own...inspired by you...
Joerg Sprave: Gelatinous Cube Hunter
And my phone has coffee on it now
I think the bodkin penetrated the steel because of the triangular structure the full way round the arrow tip. Triangles are the strongest way to make things, hence why bridge supports are sometimes triangles. You might be wondering “then why didn’t the brow head penetrate?” Well it’s a lot lot more flimsier making it more of an animal hunting tip.
A form of a "lock" when the blade is switched to engage to stop the thing from fighting your grip to keep it clamped down as well as thrusting the weapon. Likened to how foldable knives tend to feature a frame lock or system to stop it from closing on you unless you really wish to.
Awesome crossbow. Is there a way to load a long arrow with a fishing tip ? Thanks.

Excellente pattents, this is real evolution jump in the archery sports.
I still dont have a crossbow with magazine, but I'm in love in this fenomenal weapons, Adder is my wish....soon I hope so! 🙂🙏
This war tip would go through mail, early plate armor, most Yoroi (Japanese armor) and most Brigandines (late medieval scale armor (you typically see rivets on leather or silk, the house of Stark from GoT had it as their default armor). That's very impressive for such a small crossbow!
PS: early plate armor was just 1mm as it stopped most threats! It also suffered from inconsistent heat-treatment. With heavy crossbows, longbow and obviously handguns, the armor became 2x as thick and heavily sloped, but in the end only the head and front plate could be made this thick without making the armor too heavy to be practical. This also explains why they are the last two pieces of armor many soldiers wore...
...

I missed it if it was mentioned....are those the 7.5" bolts?
I wish they would produce a Magazine for the Tomcat II pistol Crossbow..:-(
A repeating pistol crossbow for home defense is very metal. But what would be your preference for a CQB melee weapon?
All are fine tools for making your opponent change his mind.
I would argue that it is more effective then a bullet from a rifle (Okay arguably on that) or a handgun. I have both an AR and a Glock in my house for self defence but I personally think the Adder, when I buy it, will be my dedicated home defence weapon. The idea of not having to worry about killing my roommates or neighboors with a missed shot is appealing to me. Plus I think there would be a lot more mental stress on an attacker if he sees a crossbow bolt sticking out of his chest.
@@sebastianriz4703
I would use the AR.
@@calvingreene90 I probably would too or at least have my roomie backing me up with it but I do have a small fear of missing my shot and causing an accidental homicide or injury, plus I would rather not deal with going deaf and having my ears ring for a couple days. I already have tinitus, I dont need anymore lol..
I would be much more comfortable with my glock since I have the more pracitce with it. I only shot my AR once so far. It shot great but I dont have much practice yet.
cuz for me if I am in a situation where I need to defend my house, its going to be pure dark. I live upstairs with 4 other people surronding the walls and I have one living downstairs under my bedroom. By the time I notice someone breaking in and I get my weapon ready (Its by my door but still) the attacker is either going to be downstairs (and I am not going to go downstairs to clear it unfortunetly. Easiest way to get myself killed if the attacker is armed and dangerous) or he will already be upstairs in or around someone's room. I have ran the plan through my head a lot of times and its gonna be one tricky scenerio where if one thing goes wrong, someone is potentionally going to get seriously hurt.
Needs to have an option to lock at 90 degrees for double hand over the head swings to spike Boss Zombies in the top of the cranium
Hi Hi, Question??? Can you make a video that compares the Steambow Stinger Stock Limb vs Pro Limb, I want to know what is more practical for home defense, the laws are changing so fast here in the states I want to know the best option if fire arms become illegal, the thing to keep in mind, if they decide to make fire arms illegal, the bad guys will still be strapped. So power and time to get the next round down range is what counts
The waxed arrow went in A LOT deeper, considering it got only stopped by the widest point of the fletching which then nullified the remaining energy.
The knife shouldn’t be a problem for the hands. You would operate it like a traditional spear. Only issue with spear technique, is that you need your palm to reach to the bottom of the stick on a spear for the best stabbing. This however in a country with laws that prevent spear use is so amazing in my opinion
Here in Texas we can carry spears, double broad swords, or anything while walking in public so you may not see one of these around here.
Are you going to make a magazine for the crossbow next?
I liked the slash test because it shows that even some simple clothing is very hard to cut through without a very sharp weapon. It's not like in the movies where they do a slash through thick leather armor and kill someone. Not sure how much force, weapon mass, sharpness is required to deliver a slashing strike that cuts through leather armor and into flesh? I'm sure there are countless of tests showing this but haven't really seen any that comes to mind.
If my regular 245 fps crossbow doesn't work I have 2 20 round magazines of 9mm for the pistol. As an American living during record gun sales, I'm highly under armed. I have boxes of ammo, but the magazines don't load themselves.
150 lbs?
@JoergSprave Can you ceep the crossbow-bows strung for ever? if one can, it would make it far more useful for home defence. Or do you have to unstring it?
Leave crossbow strung, until you have to replace the string.
Could you make a bolt/arrow remover, that works like the ramrod puller on. Black powder rifles? With your wood working skill it would be majic

But the price is just very high for me, i know its more complex but like good enough hunting bow costs arround 110-125 Euro, so rather if i will have time i will make one myself from wood takeing your awsome idea if you dont mind.
Actually both are very reasonably priced. I wonder if it is lead to hunt with these, especially large games. Hogs maybe ok, because typically they are considered pest and don't require any license. But deer and elks may be different and they are also harder to kill.
