This is an excellent MIDI tutorial. I knew much of this already but it was a good reminder, very well presented.

You should make this video a prerequisite for your Ample Guitar course. I spent the whole time thinking that CC values were single numbers that you entered somewhere on the low notes of the piano roll. You’re a terrific teacher.

One quick question. When I drag from Chorder to Reaper, the current chord does not come along. Do I need to go Chorder > Riffer > Reaper?

Very nice and well-organised video. Thanks! Perhaps it would be worth mentioning that in better virtual instruments expression and velocity affect not only the volume (“amplitude “) of a note, but also how it sounds. E.g., a trumpet played louder gains harmonics, may distort a bit, and so on. (I’m sure you know this, but some in your audience may not.) Thanks again for this post, and I look forward to the next one, as a useful refresher!

Great video. Perhaps worthwhile to mention the difference between tremelo, which is a variation in amplitude (volume) vs vibrato, which is a variation in frequency (pitch). Looking forward to future videos.

Trying to explain to my friends why a keyboard controller has no sound makes their eyes gloss over. It is at those times I refer them to Rubin's videos.

Hi Ruben, i have bought your online lessons and following you for months. Apart from the ample sound tutorials, can you make some videos about the tone of midi guitar? For example, using Guitar Rig/ AmpliTube/ dsp neural after programming the midi ample sound guitar? Any recommended setting/pedal for different genre? I am able to program the ample sound plugin after taking your lessons, but I have been struggling with the tone of different genre for a long time and still dont have a solution. Your works is much appreciated!!
